I think that the idea of a health forum is excellent. The state of Health in Nigeria is deplorable and it is encouraging to see great minds that are interested in making a difference.

I have noticed that people tend to think/believe that health advice/suggestions from this site can be a replacement for regular hospital/clinic visit. Sometimes definitive diagnoses and treatments are prescribed for posters to follow. And it doesn't help in Nigeria that anything can be bought over the counter.

These things happening could actually worsen the bad situation that the forum was trying to improve. I know it is a virtual environment, and you may be limited in so many ways.

But i suggest that a very strong and visible disclaimer be made that doing anything you read here is at your own risk. Nigeria is still a very naive society, but we are not going to remain there for very long.

thanks for the observation. the doctors always make it a point of duty to remind posters to visit the hospitals when necessary. its going to be an uphill task trying to convince them not to self-medicate or try out new and alternate treatments. i will find time to put up a disclaimer soon . thanks once again.

REASON? IVE GOT SICKLECELL ANEAMIA.
its kinda hard to explain hw it feels to b one. when i was younger it probably was just inferiority complex seein d "healthy" people doin sports nd all while i was treated like an egg bt nw tht im all grown up (27) i noticed lifes actually more complex fr "us" thn i thot.
spiritually its been tough bt i cant help thinkin i cld die b4 im 40 and tht makes life vain!ive known some friends who died along d way.
this reflected in my studies aswel and i dropd out of my posrgrad here in london
relationships av had its ups n downs and i wonder who will axtually settle fr a SS u knw
I need to knw if im alone on this or do every ss patient feel this way?

awww, my sympathies. i know a lot of sicklers who are doing very well and are not allowing their condition be limitations to them. you can make yourself an inspiration to sicklers around you.
