I'm following this thread with great enthusiasm, though i'm not from the north, but i have some friends from the north. Arewa has the most trustworthy Nigerians that you can ever think of. I don't think education is the bane of northern progress, rather it's religion. I think the crop of leaders in the north are doing their best in the area of education. Most northern states have free education, with multiple scholarships for those interested. it's so pertinent to note that, if the people of the south have the same educational support of the north, MIT won't contain those looking for such opportunity. Some imams in the north should be held accountable for the religious violence in the north. Talk about polio vaccine, VVF, marrying more than one wife, going to Mecca, to fulfill all religious righteousness. But, such doesn't happen in the SW. There's no religious book that doesn't have negative view of its non adherents. I have seen seen a corp member behaving as such. Don't say education can do it all, but rather proactive measures like the El Rufai's religious bill. I think the north needs serious reorientation. Please don't mind the typos.

I didn't stay in Kona, I stayed in mayo-dasa. I rented a room and parlour self con with a friend at #70k. Its expensive then because house is very scarce due to the influx of people from Adamawa and Borno because of boko haram. I'm not sure of the price now but u can stay in mayo Dasa, its not far to Kona.

I am from the North West,Kaduna to be precise. My favourite dish is Tuwon shinkafa & Taushe soup.We,the northerners are known for our simple way of life and accomodative nature.we are hospitable- u can't take dat away from us.That's why yu can come from anywhere and thrive in d north. However our major problems,in my opinion,are illiteracy,ethnicity,lack of sincere leadership,poverty and hence d huge disparity btw d elites nd d poor.

Well, as a northerner, am proud of my region nd at d same tym, i feel so bad nd bitter abt how some of us (hausa & fulani) behave nd relate to others.


We av 2 major problems in d north nd they are.. ILLITERACY & POVERTY.

4• I like the igbos because they are industrious, wise and I like them for their doggedness once it comes to businesses.

I like the Yorubas because, they are accommodating, friendly, jovial, homely and they don't joke with education


5• the main problems facing the north are: fanaticism, illiteracy, mediocracy, sentiments and a whole lot more.

the only solution is to go back to the drawing board, dust up the files that contain the policies initiated by sardauna, balewa, Aminu kano and their likes.


Once this policies have been dust up, a regional conference should be organised with proper representation, no religion, ethnicity, tribe or political party should be left out.

the conference should be charged with implementing these policies.
