Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Torture Test: Knives, Bending And Open Flame by ahmedreceives11: 7:30am On Mar 11, 2016
This team managed to get their hands on the devices early and have already started to put them through torture tests. Samsung’s Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge didn’t launch until March 11, but a few people have them.

YouTuber JerryRigEverything is one of those guys. In his latest video, he scratches, burns and bends a Galaxy S7 Edge to see how durable it is.

In the scratch test, he takes several picks to the S7 Edge’s front and back glass to see where it falls on the Mohs scale. JerryRigEverything concludes the S7 Edge’s Gorilla Glass 4 display is on par with many other flagship smartphones.

THE BACKSIDE, HOWEVER, IS MORE PRONE TO SCRATCHES THAN THE FRONTSIDE.

We also learn the S7 Edge’s back camera lens is protected by a scratch-resistant glass cover, but the flash module and heart rate sensor are only shielded with a plastic cover, which isn't as scratch-resistant.

In the burn tests, he takes a lighter to the phone’s screen for a few seconds. It appears to survive just fine.

Bending the phone does crack open the frame, but only if you’re applying a ton of pressure on it. Under normal usage, it should hold up quite nicely in your skinny jeans. There’s no need to fear #bendgate.

While these stress tests do reveal how solid Samsung’s new flagship phone is, the tests were also performed in a very specific order. It’s entirely possible the heat applied to the screen could have compromised the structural rigidity of the aluminum frame, making it easier to crack slightly open during the bend test.

Still, it looks like Samsung’s crafted some tough smartphones. And let’s not forget, the S7 and S7 Edge are also water-resistant, too.
