He is one of the leading Black men in Hollywood. British actor Idris Elba was honored at Buckingham Palace in London last week for his contributions to drama.

He received the Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (OBE) award from Prince William.

He was accompanied by his mother, and he was proud to show her in his tweet.

Elba, made history in January when he became the first male actor to take home two Screen Actors Guild awards in one night.

He is well known for his portrayal of Detective John Luther in the BBC One series Luther, and Nelson Mandela in the 2013 biographical film Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom. He has been nominated five times for a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Miniseries or Television Film, and won one, as well being nominated four times for a Primetime Emmy Award.
