Stating the effects of fuel scarcity in Nigeria will be something that is endless. You can go on and on and on and on and you can't just conclude. The effect on Nigerians cannot be overemphersized. Especially in Abuja and lagos.

The fuel scarcity in FCT Abuja has lasted more than two weeks. Coupled with poor power supply and the very hot weather, Abuja residents have been groaning under the effects. These are some of the responses of Abuja residence and some shoppers, who were at Ceddi Plaza for the re-opening of Spar Abuja, three ways the fuel scarcity has affected them.

1. Movement

The long queues at fuel stations and the exorbitant price of the product in the “black market” has meant an increase in transport fare. Most Abuja residents have taken to regulating their comings and goings to reduce the amount the spend on transportation.

2. Productivity

One of our respondents noted that queuing at the fuel stations also affects productivity. “When you spend an entire day at the filling station, you are left with little time to do anything else,” she said. Some car owners have complained about the hours that they have add to spend on queues. A taxi driver said on Friday that he was on a queue from 10 a.m. to around 6 p.m.; that is a total of eight hours.
