Hello Alleybuy. The I-20 and SEVIS records are designed to accompany the applicant throughout their educational career. Naturally, passport and visa numbers will change over time. Alleybuy: |

Hello VO, I am new here and I am happy to be here. My question goes thus: I am 31years old. I work as a medical sales representative. My marriage is a month old. I am going for a master degree in USA. Am I eligible for F1 visa? I just got my I20 from a school in USA and I am planning to schedule an appointment by the end of the month. Please am I eligible for F1 visa considering how long I am married.? |

Hello foxus. Your marital status is not pertinent to the student visa application process. foxus: |

abujaniv: I love this! Please, the Consular Officer. Can you suggest what went wrong about my own case when I was rejected for a F1 visa? I have asked the question previously, I am not married! and my plan for wedding is on but towards next year during the summer break!. However, I cant lie to the VO about my marital status!! Why then was my visa denied. The only thing I could have gotten wrong on the day was that I didn't state my background information, my previous and present information, all these I though the VO could get from the system through my DS-160 confirmation slip. As well, I was succinct on why I am going for my PhD program. Please, could all these be the reasons for my refusal? I need to know because, I want to schedule an appointment soon!. |

Dear VO Please I wish to apply for an F1 visa using my cousin as the sponsor. The funds are adequate, about twice the amount needed, cousin lives in Nigeria, but we don't share the same surname. All other requirments are satisfactory. Cousin is also a highly placed politician and is using the official letterhead for the sponsorship letter. Please will using my cousin as a sponsor affect my eligibility status?? |

abujaniv: hello abujaniv Please I would like to state here that I was denied f1 visa three weeks ago based on the fact that I couldn't list more subjects I would be taking for my UG studies but now I want to reapply and book an appointment next week but nothing has changed in my status but I have indepth knowledge now about it. Please when asked, what has changed in your status? What could be the possible response, as nothing has changed whatsoever? Thanks |

Good morning, seunban. We can not go into details about specific cases. The positive or negative result of a visa application rarely hinges on one single factor, so I would not advise you to agonize over one thing or another. seunban: |

abujaniv:Thanks the VO for this. Candidly, your info here has been okay. It's just that one would keep wondering when a visa is refused. Please, the last questions for today: 1. What is the perfect answer to why do you want to go for PhD? If I wanted to answer,I could have started by stating a little about my background, experiences, my present position and then relate to my future plan. Will I be wrong to state these? Another person would have just go straight to what would be gained from the PhD program and then relate to the future plan Please let me know! 2. If asked if something has changed from the last interview, will it be okay for someone to say: Yes, that one has new information. As well, are all these answers dependent on individual officer? I would appreciate your response to each of the question. Regards |

We can't go into specific details of any case. Telling the truth about one's marital status is never wrong. There's rarely any single factor that makes the difference between a visa approval or denial. seunban: |
Re: U.S. Student Visa (F1, M1, & J1) Forum - We're Listening by abujaniv: 1:33pm On Jun 05, 2017 |
Hello Motari. It's up to the applicant and their school to figure out how to pay for the educational expenses. It is unlikely the visa officer will examine any sponsorship letter. Motari: |

Hello asiwaju87. Nobody knows your life and circumstances better than you. We can not advise you on what has changed in your own life. The reason we ask that question is because we want to give recently denied applicants a chance to say anything they may have left out from the previous interview. But in most cases, the adjudication result is the same. asiwaju87: |

Hello Abujaniv, is it true that a F-1 visa application should not be made until a month to resumption date of the school? Eg School resumes in August and i am being advised to schedule a visa interview date for July and not earlier. Is this true? |
Re: U.S. Student Visa (F1, M1, & J1) Forum - We're Listening by abujaniv: 10:45pm On Jun 05, 2017 |
Hello amah1905. That is incorrect. You may apply for the visa as soon as you are issued in I-20 from your desired school. If the student visa is issued, you may not enter the US on that visa more than 30 days before the start of classes. amah1905: 1 Like |

Hello the VO, Good morning. You getting me scare here about reapplying. I was not opportune to give some information in my last interview. Why did you say that in most of cases the adjudication of the result is the same? Are you saying the consular officer already has a decision on that person application. Will it not be okay to judge from the current interview? Do consular officers consider the new information presented to them as invalid? Please let me know. 1 Like |

abujaniv: Kindly verify the bolded because the 'Class start date' and 'Program start date' (this one is earlier) are different dates (like in my i20). International students orientation come up before the classes start. Thanks. |
Re: U.S. Student Visa (F1, M1, & J1) Forum - We're Listening by abujaniv: 1:11pm On Jun 06, 2017 |
The decision to reapply is yours alone. Every application is given a fresh look, but visa officers are given the same training are sworn to uphold the same laws and regulations. That is why the result is usually the same when applicants reapply. foxus: |

Re: U.S. Student Visa (F1, M1, & J1) Forum - We're Listening by foxus: 7:43am On Jun 07, 2017 |
abujaniv:Thanks. I understand what you mean. If one does it differently from the previous interview and the same rules and regulations are used, one may likely get it. But if done the same way as the first interview and the same rules and regulations are used, then the result would be the same. What is your stance about the leniency of a consular officer compare to others even when applying the same laws and regulations? |

You've asked variations on the same question several times now. Our answer is not going to be different. You may apply again if you like. The result will likely be the same unless you provide compelling, new evidence in support of your application. foxus: |

abujaniv:Yea. But I am okay with the whole information. I have reviewed my case, and noticed I didn't present personal circumstances in the best way possible. I was so brief without detail that the reason for denial was the quickest and easiest answer. Thanks the VO for your time. |

Good day, Please I need help! I filled the ds-160 form for student visa to USA but didn't make payments for visa appointment because of urgent reasons. I want to make payments now, but my question is, do I need to fill a new ds-160 form? and if yes I have something to change which is my job, I was working but I'm resigned now. Would that affect me? Secondly, My school states gmat and gre is not a requirement to get an admission but must attain it before the end of the first semester, does that affect my chances. I'm not so good with maths, work wasn't letting me but now I'm busy as IV resigned. With affect my chances Pls help me with a reply will be grateful Regards |

Hello floriane. You would need to contact customer service regarding technical questions about your online profile. Test requirements are specific to the school and don't impact the visa process. In general, better schools tend to require test scores before admission. We don't discuss chances on this forum. floraine: 1 Like |
