2000 personnel of the NSCDC officials has been approved by the commandant general of NSCDC Abdullahi Gana Muhammadu to monitor the electoral processes of the Rivers state re-run election coming up soon.

In the commandant general's words '' I trust that the strong presence of the NSCDC personnel with other security operatives in the Rivers State re-run election will bring about a hitch-free election, as all focus will be on the election,'' he said.

Rivers has been in a state of violence before and after the presidential elections with several killings of citizens and politicians alike. It has become incumbent to deploy a lot of security personnel in any election that will take place in rivers.
