Arsenal must achieve a feat last accomplished in the European Cup in 1969 if they are to qualify for the last eight of the Champions League.
Not since Ajax overturned the odds against Benfica have a side performed such a feat, and Arsenal must replicate that at the Nou Camp against the holders and Europe’s most formidable attack.
For 70 minutes in the first leg of this tie Arsene Wenger’s side had held firm against Barcelona, threatening on the break and limiting their opponents to just a few chances.
But then Lionel Messi struck twice, profiting off perhaps the only two mistakes the hosts made, and Arsenal were left facing a near-certain exit.

Wenger will be forced into several changes from the side that performed so admirably for the first three-quarters of their clash with Barcelona last month. Petr Cech, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Aaron Ramsey have all joined the list of absentees since then.
Laurent Koscielny remains a doubt four games after he was forced to miss the Swansea clash with a “slight calf problem”, meaning Gabriel and Per Mertesacker are likely to continue their struggling defensive partnership.
Barcelona will be without Gerard Pique after he picked up a one-game ban in the dying minutes of the first leg.
