Representatives of Member States, UN entities, and accredited non-governmental organizations (NGOs) from all regions of the world are participating in the session The theme of the session is Women’s Empowerment and its link to Sustainable Development. Senator Alhassan has been championing the advocacy for women empowerment in Nigeria and according to her ”it is the surest and fastest route to sustainable development.” Tinubu is attending the session in her capacity as the chairperson of the Senate committee on women affairs. Senator Alhassan also made Nigeria proud when she chaired the Commonwealth Annual Consultation of National Women’s Machineries at the UN headquarters yesterday, March 14.
