Football at a time was purely a man's sport due to the intensity and it's energy sapping nature. So,women as weaker vessels weren't deemed fit to participate in such high level energy sport.
Women's football has a longer history than most people would expect,it is recorded that as early as 1985 they were ladies playing football before the English FA banned female football labelling it "unsuitable for females".After the ban was lifted, the first major competition that took place was the female world cup in 1991 hosted by USA and since then female football has grown in leaps and bounds
Female football especially in Africa especially in Nigeria was seen to be a sport for non-attractive ladies. Threats of disownment rang alarms for defiant females who were bent on earning their living from football. Interestingly, female football has come to stay, as at September 2014, 2.6 million women and gals were reported to be playing football in England alone.Female football has now become a profession where good looking females make their living.
Iam a die heart fan of female football,I love the noise they make,every tackle, shot,foul goes with an equivalent sound.In fact, they talk more than they play.The 2011 women's world cup stands as the best female football competition for me,this is largely due to the numerous beautiful faces and intelligent footballs that graced that edition..
