Rivers isn't Sambisa forest and the militant in Rivers can't stand the heat from the military. There is a full blown warfare going on in Sambisa with Boko Haram that has international links with ISIS and Al-Queeda. There is no war in Rivers so we can't be talking of killing officers of the Nigerian army.

If that same war is brought to Rivers, the state will stop to exist.

However, when the expected military onslaught commences, even Wike will be begging for a state of emergency.

Buhari needs 2/3 votes from the Senate to declare a state of emergency which he will never get. Would you rather the people sit and watch their votes stolen?

The Commander in Chief doesn't need a State of Emergency to deplore troops to quell such insurrection. He can use executive powers which can serve same purpose even when all democratic institutions are in place. In such situation Wike will remain governor but the military would suppress social and economic activities. There was no State of Emergency in Odi or Zaka Biam
