THOSE calling for the sack of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor,  Emefiele have been described as “palm wine drinkers” by the Edo state governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole . 

The governor, who spoke in Abuja Wednesday, said the CBN has ended the nefarious career of those benefitting from an illegal capital market and other anti growth rackets. 

According to him, those are people who want the CBN boss out of the way by sponsoring spurious petition.

He said, “we all know what used to happen and how some people were busy dealing in currency rackeetering. It is this practice that Mr. Emefiele has seriously curbed by advocating policies that would minimize capital flight. So how can anyone now call for the sack of such a performing governor. ”

The governor further stated that the CBN under the current dispensation has blocked many drain pipes in the economy, by safe guarding the naira from decline. 

He noted that were it not for the quick interventions of the nation’s apex bank, the economy would have run into troubled waters with the naira getting badly hurt.

The Edo state helmsman therefore  called on President Muhammadu Buhari to ignore the calls. 

“The presidency”, he said “doesn’t make a decision based on faceless Facebook activists motivated by ignorance. I believe the president is sound enough and purposeful to discern the machinations of these individuals who don’t mean well for Nigeria.”
