The giant of Africa, light of Africa, Africa's most populated nation. I could go on and on. These are the names Nigerians call their country to explain the perception they have about their country .
Make no mistakes, Nigeria was at a time rated the fastest growing African economy and also boasts both the richest man and lady in Africa. Nigerian brands have also gone multi-national with brands like Dangote, Globacom, UBA, GTB and Zenith bank mention a few. Even in Europe and America, Nigerians have not disappointed as they have shown when given certain responsibilities.

This brings us to the issue at hand which is that despite all these feats by Nigerians , they are actually passing through hard times. This is despite the fact that they are the biggest exporters of crude oil in Africa. It is because of this, that it becomes disheartening to learn that 172 Nigerians were recently deported from Libya which is presently a war thorn country, since the forceful exit of former dictator Moumar Gaddafi. These Nigerians have deliberately or innocently given the country a bad name and image not only in Libya but worldwide . This is not the first time it is happening as Nigerians are daily repatriated from different countries. One is therefore forced to ask if these individuals are to blame for their acts or rather the former rulers of the country who made a mess of the country. This is because, despite the the abundance of natural and human resources that resides in the country, yet there has really been nothing much to show for it.

While it natural to condemn the acts of these individuals who have not only shamed the country but taken it's name to the cleaners. The purpose of this article though is to ask who is the real culprit
of this show of shame : leaders or the repatriated ? With unemployment presently on the high and businesses closing up, there is really not much to help one resist the temptation of moving abroad to live a better life even if such dreams might end up a mirage .

In conclusion , one should not be seen encouraging vices or negatives, hence those repatriated must be condemned but also it is not fair when the leaders are not included in the criticism . It's a case however of equal blame and one that must be looked into.
