Hi Tech guys Just trying to help my aunty here, she got a netbook so abandoned here working Laptop for about a month or so So yesterday she tried using the laptop, it came on for about 5minutes or so then the battery started blinking, we plugged in the charger but it still went off. so i told her to charge it for some hours then try again- though i notice the charging light doesnt even come on, so up till now it still wont come up, the only light that comes on is the one by the battery pack but it seems its not getting to the laptop itself or is the batter dead? |

@Falansa have you checked Program Files under your hard-drive? This should contain your softwares if they are still on your computer. You can also try the add or remove program under control panel, which show all the installed softwares on your computer. Any software you can't find by these is no more on your computer. |

Hi guys and girls, I am trying to configure a laptop to from the Sony website and got confused when I was told to choose a Hard drive. Now there is the "128 GB Ultra SATA Flash SSD" which is the most expensive (£320) and there is the "500 GB Serial ATA (7200 rpm)" which is £50. From my little knowledge about drives, 500GB is obviously bigger than 128GB so I could not understand why the astronomical difference in prize. I read up a little about the Solid State Drive and all I could get from it is that it is faster and has no moving parts and hence is less prone to damage and that it is silent. Now my question is will a 128GB Solid State Drive contain more data than a 128GB Serial ATA drive (Doesn't sound like to me) or is it just for the speed and stability that makes it more than 6 times more expensive? What else is the added advantage of the Solid State Drive apart from what I mentioned above? Please I would like someone to enlighten me. Cheers |

@lemmyt. What does it shows before you press ENTER or ESC? State that. It's probably the BIOS settings. |

i have a clevo m54, something. it has been working fine until one day when my sister fell it down from a stool. i switched it one and didnt get any display on the screen, everything seems to work fine. do u know if the caplocks led will display if the that type of problem occurs/ i have tried on external output but no display too.then wen i remove the ram and place it back it works fine but now that wont work. i tried the ram with other system and the ram works. so wat culd be the problem. |

@ zimdrill, thanks for the link, will go tru it. i again need help here with a compaq notebook that the hard disk failed diagnostics test carried out on from the BIOS. i performed the test because i couldn't repair nor format the drive. i concluded that the hard disk is crashed because of the test result. is there anything i can do to revive the hard disk? Note that i have tried reformatting with windows98 bootable disk with the same result. If the hard disk is confirmed crashed, what other method can i use to retrieve the data on the disk apart from using easyrecovery software? I still want to try to slave the disk on another laptop if i would have access to the data. |
Re: Post Your Computer (PC) Troubles Here. by ZIMDRILL(m): 9:00pm On Jan 18, 2011 |
Equity7: is the OS your disk win98 OR you tried your lucky with WIN98 CD? someone here once said only WIN98 can be slave to another pc not sure on that my advice is to hook it to an external hard drive and access your data |
Re: Post Your Computer (PC) Troubles Here. by ZIMDRILL(m): 9:11pm On Jan 18, 2011 |
FILEBE: i think the problem is connection wires to the display becoz when took out the ram and put it back it worked roughly meaning it made a connection when you turn around when taking off the ram which OS is on the pc with windows xp you have to manually change the setting to use an external display, for vitsa i dont know but for win 7 it detects it automatically when connect the cables |
Re: Post Your Computer (PC) Troubles Here. by Equity7: 9:23pm On Jan 18, 2011 |
thanks again zimdrill, no the OS is not win98 but you can force a format on a hard disk that has refused to be formatted with any of the higher OSes and then upgrade from there to any of the higher ones, provided that the HDD is still good. ill try and slave it. thanks. |
Re: Post Your Computer (PC) Troubles Here. by ZIMDRILL(m): 9:38pm On Jan 18, 2011 |
Equity7: explain how it refused to format so why did you try to format using win98 when the OS wasnt win98 the pc would not format becoz it is downgrading as long the drive is good you can format it by hooking it to external drive or by using the same OS disc of your OS |
