Hi guys,
how do i get rid of dis virus that turns all my folders to shortcut ?
you will need to download two things on to a flash drive (usb thumb drive)
1. rkill
2. malwarebytes

then you will need to start your computer in safe mode (when you hit the power button start pressing F8) make sure you select "safe mode with networking" because you will need to download updates for the malwarebytes.

after you login under your account with the issues, ( i like to use a flash drive or thumb drive depends on what you call it) put the flash drive in your computer and double click on the "rkill" software. This will stop every virus or malware activity on your computer.

After it gives you a result, then install malwarebytes. Let it update and then do a quick scan. when done you would be prompted to restart your computer. (hopfully this will take care of whats on your computer)

Now the last part is after you have restarted, click start-control panel- look for folder named "folder options"
in the folder options folder, click the second tab which is "view" - under the "hidden files and folders" options you will see a radio button that says "show hidden files, folders and drives"

click on that to show all your hidden folders which should now appear on your desktop.

important part: Now you know which of your folders are missing correct? right click on the folders that you know were missing and click on properties and "uncheck" the hidden option for the files you were looking for.

when done, do not delete anything you dont recognize. Go back to the folder option folder and uncheck the show hidden files folder etc

Finish! hope that helps

so i dont know much about macs but found this online for you, use at your own risk:

option 1
Ok, I had this problem and it worked for me!!!

So switch the mac off, then switch it back on again but as soon as you have switched it on hold down the Apple cmd button + S, untill the booting screen comes up.

Once that has loaded

type:

/sbin/mount -uw /

then type:

chmod 775 /

then type:

exit

this re-boots the mac. should work and I didn't lose anything!!!

hope it helps!

option 2

"i solved the problem with an original Mac OS X 10.6.3 for MacBook Pro 13INCH. i did full system restore. if you have data on your HDD remove the HDD and connect to usb on another Mac and backup your data. then do a full system restore by pressing C at startup Before the CHIM sound. Good Luck"

If you tried the above without success probably you would have to replace the HDD. I have had same problem for more than two occasions only to find out that bad HDD was the culprit.

it almost sounds like your bios date might be wrong which might be conflicting with your OS date.

i would suggest to check your bios date and time. make sure those are set to the correct date.

to enter your bios start pressing F2 before you see the windows logo when you power on your computer (F2 works for some computers)
when you get to the bios look for the "main" tab and using the arrow keys navigate to the date and make sure its set correctly.
Note: be careful NOT to change anything else in there follow the instructions written in there which might be press F10 to save and exit.

then set your computers time after the restart and hope that works for you

i have done wat u suggested and restart the system. it doesnt solve the prob.

Have you tried to replace the CMOS battery with new one? Probably the battery is failing. However, the problem is coming from the CMOS setup.

and discover that the number you gave them is fake?? u think they are that stupid?? Una come off it,

you can't overclock the prcessor of your laptop because laptop processors are usually clocked to their maxed with consideration for heat and output so no on the processor. if you want a faster processor you will need a new laptop with the processor you want.

as for the video card, it is possible as long as your laptop is not one of those laptops with an imbedded video card (stuck on the motherboard)
To find this out would require opening your laptop which is difficult and i would never advice even a desktop tech who has never opened a laptop to try this because it's sometimes hard to deal with. you should find a person with experience working on laptops to help you find out if your video card is imbedded or if its switchable.

i have dealt with such issues many times the most common issue aint nothing to do with processor like suggested but the air ducts on the fan being blocked no fresh air would be is coming in and hot air is blocked in hence it switches its self to protects its self the coppers plate that are support to be cooled would be hot and are sitting on the top processor hence switching off to protect the processor make sure that when cleaned new heatsink paste should applied at the back of the processor and the copper plates

I am wondering where electronics, especially computers and cell phones are dumped in Nigeria? does anyone have an idea of the firms that dump electronics in Nigeria?

Furthermore, do we have a market where gold is sold in Lagos or in Abuja?
Finally, how does investment in stock market work in Nigeria?

Does anyone know how I can do marketing in Nigeria?

The truth is that even when the fan is in good condition and there is accumulated dirt on the microprocessor and its surroundings, you are still going to encounter intermittent switching off of the system. Before you apply paste on top of the Microprocessor (not the heat-zinc) you would need to dust it up first. Don't ever ignore this little trick - small debris on the microprocessor and environment can trigger the system to switching off for overheating, even when the fan is in good working condition.

Hi guys,
how do i get rid of dis virus that turns all my folders to shortcut ?
really this is such a harmless worm with simple instructions, all it does is:hide your active folders and replace them with the links that wont open the target folder, and later propagate itself into removable devices
solution for your computer:
open a command prompt(type cmd from run)
type attrib -h -s /S /D *.* then press enter (it would restore all your folders back)
when done, type del *.lnk (to del all the empty links)

solution for removable devices:
open a command prompt(type cmd from run)
type the drive name with a colon(fsmiley
type attrib -h -s /S /D *.* then press enter (it would restore all your folders back)
when done, type del *.lnk (to del all the empty links)

best way to remove the worm is to scan your hard drive with either an updated rescue disk on startup or u remove your harddrive and scan from a clean system

point taken but with all my experience i have never seen a processor that has accumulated more dust than than copper coolers and the air vents, the vents are the one which blocks then dust covers the coppers cooler by then you computer will switch on within 60 seconds it will switch off becoz the heat aint exscaping through the copper coolers and aslo the fun aint bring in fresh air becoz its blocked
