and try to brows through the port i meaning using cable it won't indicate the port, except through hi-fi or usb?

Yes @ DL , I tried those different external drives on my other laptop that is also on XP professional and it recognizes them. It's a CompaqHP nc6400, Dual Core, 2.00GHZ Processor speed,1G RAM.

Some laptops don't have enough power for the external hd to work even though you may see the hdd led on, if you have the usb cord with two connection points to Pc/laptop try to connect with both at the same time. Flash drives require less power to operate.

go to the HP website and enter your computer's make and model in their support section. That would take you to the page that has the driver for your dvd/cd drive download it and install it and you should be good to go

Hi Kay-baba,

This behaviour can occur if disk cleanup was used or hiberfil.sys file was mistakenly
deleted. what is hiberfil.sys ? The term hiberfil.sys controls the way your computer hibernate.
Here's your diagnostics in getting hibernation back. click start > run > cmd > and type in

powercfg -h on  then press enter > restart your computer for changes to take effect then test
