Have you try safe mode toluxa1

f8 on start up

then safe mode

if you can, you"ll be
laughing as this give us
chance to auto repair the
corrupted
files

Other wise follow the advice you have received from
myself and my colleagues

deji2009:

right click anywhere on the desktop>
properties>settings>advanced>general
and then you set the dpi to 96.

everything in your computer
displays smaller

If no joy try

Right clicking the MSN Accelerator icon in your system
tray and set the level to none

Good luck

@deji2009: how do i find the MSN Accelerator Icon? I've tried the dpi thing and still no joy, man

Re: Post Your Computer (PC) Troubles Here. by toluxa1(m): 5:35pm On May 15, 2010
@deji. Thanks for your reply. The system maker is not Mercury but I don't think that's important as it is not a Branded system. Secondly, the system can't enter safe mode. It keeps restarting when safe mode is trying to load. Thirdly, It was Service Pack 3 I was using before and the XP CD I am using to try to format is also a Service Pack 3. What I want to do now is to try another CD incase the one I'm using is bad. Or do you have any other idea. At least its clear now that it is not my HDD. Can it be my RAM?
Re: Post Your Computer (PC) Troubles Here. by shilohboy(m): 5:37pm On May 15, 2010
@deji2009: I have fixed the problem. I deleted my entirebrowsing history, cache and all.
Everything just went back to normal.
thanks for your help.

@Deji. I eventually went to buy a Windows 7 Cd and as I am typing this now, it is successfully installing. I'll update you when I am done. But the issue of my former HDD is still there. I have to recover my files from it. Remember I am using the New SATA HDD I just bought when I thougt the problem was with the HDD.

@deji2009: You wont believe this . I found a permanent solution to the fuzzy image thing with browsers. I stumbled on this Dell forum and i tried out the Registry tweak for creating a registry value on notepad. Voila!! All my images, whether thumbnail or otherwise are crispy clear.
Here is the link

If anyone has this problem, please dont hesitate to use this tweak

Dear Stag,

Thank you for the above enquiry and do appreciate your explanations.
Trying to format C: from a Command Prompt within Windows can't be done.

Basically you are asking windows to destroty itself take for example, if i ask you
to put your finger inside a fire.would you do so ?

I think what you did was click on start > run > cmd you then typed chkdsk /f

Could you specify make and model of computer so we can tell whether an
installation disk is needed
e.g. HP 530 Windows Vista.

Good luck

sorry bro but that thing is as good as a door stop. The water must have reached the board and shorted out most of the circuitry. you might want to get a new mother board for that laptop.

i found this online dont know if you have a floppy drive or maybe if you research the software they might have an updated one to help you

I got the same problems like you guys before, but when I got the program PQ Magic 7.0(version 8.0 is available now), every thing is solved. You can format any hard drive.
To do it, you got to copy PQ Magic to a floopy disk, then start your computer in MS_DOs by the floopy disk, then run PQ Magic 7.0, it allows you to format hard drive even if the hard drive is NTFS.
Hope I can help you guys some how

In reference to the above, we can try something make sure charger is plug in
restart laptop and keep pressing f11 or f10 until you see windows is loading files
and follow on screen instructions. This should be possible if you haven't install
another operating system ontop of the original copy. e.g. xp over vista

This will erase your data and put everything back to how it was purchased

Good luck

Dear Nymph,

Thank you for the above. I would suggest you google up network xp
and vista or vice versa, this is the simplest and professional way in
doing it. using of third party software can/could create problems for other users.
This also means you"ll be able to get support as this what most people are use to

Good luck

^^ did you mean slow? instead on now

if slow you can do some maintenance like cleaning out your cache and defragmentting your hard drive also you might want to run a good anti virus and anti malware to clean and thing that you may not know about which uses up a lot of your computer processing capabilities. hope that helps

well one thing i could think of is that your hd is less cause you downloaded lots of things movies, games etc and your RAM may be low because your video shares that memory and your video seemd low because you probably were using some video processing (using the video memory) when you checked the status of your memory. I mean if it's no problem keep keeping on.
