…and The First Street Store In Nigeria Was A Success. by omolomolarinero: 11:22am On Mar 27, 2016
The Street Store in Ibadan, was a success as lots of people came out for shopping spree at no cost. Of course the Sabo community has in the past witnessed different community development programs from both governmental and non-governmental organizations, but the event of last Sunday 20th March, 2016 will forever remain an indelible memory in the hearts of both the old and the young in the Sabo community as they played host to the first ever “Street Store” in Nigeria. The initiative was brought to Nigeria by Geo Meridien International; an Event, Travels and Community Service Company in Nigeria and India. The Street Store started in South Africa as the world’s first rent – free, premises – free, free “pop – up” clothing store for the needy, found entirely on the street and curated by everyone. It has been held in over 180 countries and now in Nigeria for the first time. This first edition witnessed a huge turnout of volunteers from the community and representatives of different organizations. Over 1000 pieces of clothes, shoes, bags, toys, gadgets, accessories, gifts, and household items were donated by well-meaning individuals. These were set up in a store-like setting for the community to come and shop for free. More than 500 individuals including women, men, boys and girls benefited from the donations.

The next street store might pop up in your Area. Donations, ideas and other relevant information are welcome. Kindly call the numbers to donate/volunteer, etc. +234 7015866695, +234 8032907566.
