I am currently undergoing the mandatory NYSC programme in Akwa-Ibom which will be coming to an end in April-14-2016 (Reppin Batch A15).
After spending 3weeks in Nsit-Atai as a camper, I was posted to Ibeno LGA near Eket.
Ther are 2 towns in Ibeno LGA namely Upenekang & Mkpanak.
In Upenekang, we av got the local govt office plus one state secondary school known as Secondary Grammar School, Ibeno and about 3 private pry/sec school as place of primary assignment. N:B I served(because i aint resuming next term with them due to the coming POP come april 14 after being offered retainment) in Secondary Grammar School, Upenekang.
In Mkpanak, we av got the popular oil & gas terminal-ExxonMobil and one technical secondary school known as Ss Peter & Paul School (though a missionary school).

Here are expository facts about the LGA & its environs.
1). There are 2 major roads that leads to Ibeno LGA; Thru CRECC Rd & Thru Esit-Eket Rd.
CRECC Rd is short but a bad half way tarred road while Esit-Eket Rd is a tarred but long road.

2). Ibeno Beach is a major center of attraction in Mkpanak Ibeno LGA. Kai, come and see how people flood the beach on weekends(saturdays & sundays) especially during celebrations such as Xmas, New Year, Valentine & Easter.

3). The popular oil & gas company-ExxonMobil Qua Iboe Terminal premises (in & out) is a site to behold especially @ night.

4). Majority of the indegenes do not fancy furthering their education after secondary school due to their "oyel moni" motto.

5). Their main best food is eba & fufu with fine 'esitam' or 'afang' soup spiced with crayfish & periwinkles. Be careful not to suck worms frm d periwinkle if u knw wat i mean(jus kiddin).

6). Ibeno LGA(Mkpanak especially) has the highest yoruba(mostly ilajes) race dominating the place due to the beach and their fishing occupation. It has gotten to a stage whereby if a yoruba woman gives birth, her child might not really understand the yoruba language but will very much understand thw ibeno language which is IBIBIO.

7). The indegenes especially the traders believes Corp Members are rich due to the facr that we are paid stable peanut as allawee which is mind boggling to them.

. As a corp member, you can easily get a free ride called 'Nso Nso' (Thank U) to wherever you are going to but this largely depends on the gender driving the car. In other words, men are much nicer compared to women in giving corp members a lift though keep in mind that you can stand hours before eventually hitching a ride.

9). Ibeno LGA is located off the coast of the atlantic ocean to the south, little wonder why the rain here na die thru May to September.... Jeez na weather for two oooooo...

10). Trust me, if you are a corp member serving in ibeno lga, you will be respected by the Police, Army, NSCDC and whatever around there because you go dey pass road block and given prefential treatment unlike lagos where corper is seen like mere civilian.....
