@Dalo4u I work as a Directional Drilling Engineer, typically Sub-sea engineers are very competent in mechanics and designing. a lot of what they do is in mechanical engineering and i would say you have a good start with your M.E degree. However getting into Sub-sea engineering is very tough. its one of the highest paying engineering fields out there where you can earn up to $$400,000 a year or N64mil. Typically a Sub-sea engineering training school in Norway or in the UK is a sure way to get into Sub-sea engineering but be advised its expensive, classes range from $3,000 to $6000 a class. |

Thank you very much for your advice. For some one without experience in the oil and gas sector, since the training for subsea is a bit out of reach now , will courses under drilling suffice? |

Which do u advise me to go for, considering the employment opportunity each offers and d fact dt d seond option is not close to my field @ first degree compared to the first. Please i'm a graduate of Peroleum Engineering from FUTO.(2.2) and i live in lagos. It's been 4 months since i finished service and i realised that it's very difiicult getting into the industry. Even though i didn't make 2.1, i believe i know as much as a 2.1 should. Because my passion for the course has always been my strength. Please if there is any kind of help i can get from the house(ranging from casual to any position) that'll enable me aquire the skill to compete in the industry will be greatly appreciated. Since i intend to build a career, i know i have to start from scratch. Please i know there are many here that can assist me cos i have been following this thread from the day it started. please, i don't have any connection in the industry and my efforts to establish some have not been forth coming(since i don't have the money to go places). Thanks you can reach me through : chris.ikpat@yahoo.com |

I love this thread ve also been reading it since it was created. I have a Masters degree in Petroleum Engineering in one of d best schools offering d course in the UK. Studying petroleum Engineering exposed me to a bit of industry experience wit d knowledge of quite a lot of industry Simulators. So my question to the experienced petroleum engineers in d house how can we fresh graduates of petroleum engineering get into the industry without connections coz I don't mind starting as a roustabout on the rig or working with small contractors.Pls will be grateful for any help rendered. |
