Genk have expressed confidence that newly signed defender Mujaid Sadick Aliu is ready to take the next big step of his career. The Belgian club have signed 21-year-old central defender Sadick, whose father is Nigerian and mother Ghanaian, from Spanish club Deportivo La Coruna for the next four seasons. “Mujaid is ready to take it one step further,” Genk Sports director Dimitri De Conde said. “We believe he has a bright future ahead of him. He is young and strong, very fast and unyielding as a defender. “Our schedule next season will be a lot more filled with European football. we need a slightly wider selection. Mujaid gives us extra options in the back. “ Sadick was born in Logroño, in the northeast of Spain. He has a Nigerian father and a Ghanaian mother. He has the Spanish and Nigerian nationality, but has already represented Spain at the national U18 and U19. He turned 21 in March. Five years ago he entered the Deportivo youth categories. Two years later, then trainer Clarence Seedorf made him debut in the Primera División. Sadick has remained loyal to Depor in recent turbulent seasons and developed into a strong modern central defender at the club. 2 Likes |

Swedish club Hammarby IF have placed a price tag of 50 million Swedish Krona (about six million Euros) on Nigeria sensation Akinkunmi Amoo. Hammarby may have only paid Amoo’s Nigerian club 100,000 Euros, but they have already rejected a bid of four million Euros from Belgian champions Club Brugge. According to SportExpressen, the Swedish club are prepared to cash in big time on the exciting youngster, who signed a long-term contract last year when he clocked 18. ‘Akin’ has scored three goals and provided an assist in the first six rounds of matches in the new season. His sparkling form has alerted top clubs across Europe, from Atletico Madrid to Leicester City. 1 Like |

Most may not remember this lad but he played in La Liga as a teen about 2-3 seasons ago I think. Just recently wrapped up the regular season with Deportivo La Coruna in the Spanish third tier alongside Uche Agbo. A young defensive prospect. charlesemeka85 3 Likes |

chrisooblog: Talking about fear and reality. There were two realities from one of the last times France and Nigeria played also. France vs Nigeria (2009 friendly in St.Ettienne) France's Starting XI: S.Mandanda, J.Escude, S.Squillaci, Patrice Evra, R.Fanni, Patrick Vieira, A.Diarra, Franck Ribery, Loic Remy, Karim Benzema, Nicolas Anelka. Subs: Hugo Lloris, J.Boumsong, Eric Abidal, Bacary Sagna, Philippe Mexes, Florent Malouda, Yohann Gourcuff, Sidney Govou, Jeremy Toulalan, A.Diaby, Andre Pierre Gignac, C.Carrasso Nigeria's Starting XI: Vincent Enyeama, Olubayo Adefemi, Elderson Echiejile, Sam Sodje, Seyi Olofinjana, Dickson Etuhu, Kalu Uche, Nwankwo Kanu, Joseph Akpala, Ikechukwu Uche, Peter Osaze Odemwingie. Subs: Austin Whose, Onyekachi Apam, Danny Shitty, Yusuf Mohammed, Obinna Nwaneri, Sabi Kaita, Atanda Ayila Yusuf, Dele Adeleye, Michael Eneramo, Victor Obinna Nsofor. Now if we look at the starting Lineups of both sides that day, it is clear that on paper, we stood Zero chance. Number 1 reality: France had much better quality than us and were gonna maul us. Number 2 reality: Shockingly, it didn't happen. Nigeria ended up the victors Just one of the countless lessons of the beautiful game. 6 Likes

TheSuperNerd:iheanacho's numbers are crazy, at first it looked like a purple patch but now even a blind man will agree that he's in red hot form. Ndidi's number isn't good enough at least according to our football expert, as a DM he should be dropping 10 goals and 15 assists |

In 2014, the reality shone through in the end as they were expected to win (and did win). But don't forget they only won after they had Onazi taken out in planned mafia style by Matuidi. France with all their quality struggled against us and resorted to dirty plays to win. They won after taking out the one player breaking up their plays and making life hard for them. chrisooblog: 4 Likes 1 Share |

Super Eagles, Super Strikers: A Century of Goals in 20/21. Like someone here have already posted, five of the six invited Super Eagles strikers from some of the Topflight leagues of Europe (EPL, Serie A, Ligue 1, Belgian Jupiler League Pro) now have 100 goals combined in 20/21 season in all Competitions. The sixth invited Striker is Sadiq Umar who is now on 27 goals in all Competitions in 20/21 from 52 games (45 starts). So the five + Sadiq makes it 127 goals for our six invited strikers for the Friendlies next month and in early July. But Focusing only on the five from the top flight leagues alone, we have a 100-goals-attack invited for the Friendlies. Graphic Courtesy: @SoarSuperEagles 7 Likes 2 Shares

Liverpool are ready to sell Taiwo Awoniyi this summer. The Liverpool Echo says the Nigerian striker has been granted a UK work permit. After spending the current season with Union Berlin, the 23-year-old has played the required quota of Bundesliga matches to meet the new GBE work permit criteria for next season. A number of English clubs have contacted Liverpool to register interest in the 23-year-old, having followed his progress closely this season, with Goal reporting initial discussions have been held with Fulham, West Brom and Stoke City, with the Reds also fielding enquiries from Union Berlin, Stuttgart and Wolfsburg. Liverpool are not actively looking to sell the striker, and remained in close contact with Awoniyi over the course of the season. But it is understood they would expect to receive a fee of £8m-£10m for his services having rejected a £5m offer from Anderlecht in the past. |
