I was among those that criticised Maigari but I must confess, that man knew his job and what he was doing. Pinnick just thinks of money 24/7 and his cohorts occupying positions.

Did the Greek manager ever come out to say his team was going to beat any single team in that competition before a game?
But he never came out to say they aren't good enough. That's the main point. Coaches rarely come out to say they'd beat a team. They know too well to be that arrogant. At the same time they don't also beat their team down by suggesting either expressly or subtly that the opposition is better or talk any other form of put downs.

What is said to the media is different from what is said on the training grounds and dressing rooms guys. Surely you know this.

It is being shrewd. It has been part of the game right from the beginning of time. You have to be tactical in speech in every walk of life.

Villarreal is better and playing in the champions league

Villarreal won the Europa league also

Lille won league 1 was Lille propels players far better than Villarreal.

So what’s your argument Lille is by far superior to Villarreal when it comes to players growth.

He's played just 2 tournament, do you think he should have won the world cup?

So

We re looking @ d duration bro..d two most successful coaches in eagles tenure,d 1st spent 5years and d 2nd,an indigenous coach spent 2years and some months,u knw deir achievements..

Rohr is about using 6years,nothing yet to shoe for it;developmental /trophy wise.. So u think if rohr were to b an Enugu or osun man,by now he would be addressed as an ex-eagles coach!. smiley

The players do not live on Mars. They hear what is said in the media. That kind of mind game is counter productive in my estimation. Simple rule: In public do not put down your team, do not hype your team.

Have you ever heard a manager tell the media his team is the favourite to win any competition?

Lille is not a better club than Villarreal anywhere anyway and anytime

Lille is a selling club so they will always be stagnant, even coach wey won Ligue 1 don comot

I agree about players growth only .

Villarreal is a far superior club. But when was the last time they sold a black player above 50.

Lille is the Dortmund of France. Every scout and clubs knows it. So they’re paying more attention to Lille than Villarreal.

That's the point I am making. Have you heard a manager tell the media in not so subtle ways that they'd get beat?
Look at the Ukraine team at this Euros. The players are young. Did you hear Shevchenko say anything suggesting that they are naive, they are inexperienced? My point is not that a coach should hype his team. No! At the same time don't put your team down.

Fair enough. I agree with that. As a manager you don't have to put your team down. But you surely can downplay their ability. See the below press conference given by Mourinho for example. If that was Rohr we will be up in arms.

Yes but Villarreal also sold Ekambi to Lyon in the middle of the season. I believe the deal could get done. Lille have money from Osimhen's transfer (which I'm sure will magically reappear due to the law suit) and money from getting into the champions league. They r capable of doing the deal.

You are right Lille have the money and they might
Still make some sales again

And here we entrust our under 20 team with failure like Aigbogun, who failed in his last sojourn none of the players from the last campaign made it so far and now he is still the under 20 coach because he is Pinnick's man

For me if Chukwueze goes to Lille that's a very nice move

Chukwueze is gonna dominate the French league

I wonder why Pinnick is wasting money on these old cargoes in Npfl he should use that money in organizing a friendlies for our U20s it will go a long way in helping out football

May be not. But did he say that his team stand no chance because their players are not playing for top European clubs?

If as a father you keep telling your children that they can't make it because of one reason or the other, 90 percent of them would end up not trying to make it.
Very apt analogy

Plus he has arguably achieved the highest honor he could possibly attain with Villareal. I see where people disagree on this but this move can be beneficial.

You know, I sat down to watch some of the Euro coaches make pre match interviews and I discovered that quite a number of coaches talk and make similar comments like Rohr.
