zicky: to be honest....rohr really need to save his Job and reputation... many of so called experience players like onazi need to start sitting on the bench....even the musa upon his introduction yesterday still played rubbish... likewise elderson echiejie |

The major lesson I picked from this game is that we need our experienced players. Apart from guys like Moses Ikeme Balogun and Mikel who didn't make it due to injuries, we need to bring back Ideye, Sone and Enyema. We need a mix of experience and youth. Someone suggested we start #bringbackenyeama campaign on twitter, I think it's time we take that suggestion serious. 5 Likes |

TheGoodJoe:to be honest....wit you wit no offence I think those indigenous assistants working wit rohr are empty skulls especially that agu and Yusuf u see RSA had to go call rantie to come play because of his past precedent playing Nigeria... Yusuf claim to have been around for so long and still inexperienced 1 Like |

An excerpt from Papa Guus Hiddink on Mikel Obi during the resurgence of Chelsea creates a picture of the deep role instructions. For the midfielder, the instructions are crystal clear now. "He's good in short passing. I don't expect and I don't ask him to make the decisive final pass. He can but no, we let the other players do that. The talented players can then explore their qualities." There is a big reason for that "NO". Doing that affects the team's balance. Instead Onazi did it all game. Going for long balls and neglecting the simple short passes. |

Humility017:I think Rohr wanted a little bit of power and muscle in midfield that was why Etebor was preferred in the middle. I hope this will be the last Kelechi is seen playing the lone striker role. I have always said he's a liability up front on his own. Yesterday was one of such nights again. 1 Like |

goldfish80: Kelechi Iheanacho was an asset up front yesterday. Unfortunately we did not have the right personnel in midfield to use him to cause damage. If not, we would have been two or three goals up first half. |

Humility017:Please the Nigerian assistants wouldn't have done anything. Rohr was the man in charge, the buck stops at his office, he makes all the decision. Why not mention Rohr's foreign assistants? 2 Likes |

Humility017: I will be honest with you, I think they are also the problem. It makes Rohr a bit lenient on the old brigade and keeper role during selection. They are African coaches and they are suppose to have inside intel on the South African team. |

TheGoodJoe:Don't start abeg. What exactly did he do yesterday? How many shots on target did he muster? How many shots off target did he have? If it was Ideye who had such poor stats, everyone would have been all over him. I have always told you people not make demi gods off these players. You're not helping them. 6 Likes |

TheGoodJoe:no doubt ndidi is a good dmf but he's better playing as a roaming midfielder a big man is most suitable for the deep playing role I would prefer a midfield that consist of iwobi or ajagun (in mikel's absence) ndidi, onazi or etebo(roaming midfielder) john ogu,Mikel agu or esiti(deep role MF). By the way I don't know why rohr can't invite igali or this our boy that plays in Spain have forgotten his name sef.Cus sentiments apart akpeyi is wack. |

cromz: Keep in mind, two exceptional defensive shields were Mascherano at Liverpool and Makalele at Chelsea. Flamini in his hay days was exceptional too. Gatusso did a fantastic work shielding the Milan defence. So it must not be a big man, although most good fours are big men. Players like Busquets, Mikel Obi, Edmilson, Casemiro, Wanyama, Nzonzi etc. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 8:56am On Jun 11, 2017 |
cromz: I feel Ndidi should take the role. Become the next Oliseh. Stay disciplined. We have a lot of talented midfielders for Ndidi to bother himself with that. He should just sit deep and recycle the ball. He can do it and it will go a long way in helping the team succeed. |

Good players dey rohr no go invite na academy players baba dey find here are some players I think should have been invited to the national team. Manuel akanji (it's so sad we lost these one) igali sone aluko ajagun ideye(hasn't been invited in recent times) Thiago ilori (dude would play the RB role better than the players we have) nedum onuoha (experienced CB) |

goldfish80: Kelechi Iheanacho's positioning and runs were precise. Unfortunately we did not have the right personnel to deliver the right passes for him to tear the South Africans apart. You can not blame an attacker when the midfield supplied little to no balls. Watch the match again and see how many times Iheanacho was through on goal. Unfortunately the final balls were wrong. |

goldfish80: I agree wit you the lad play better when played as a SS let me tell you...rohr won't forbid those indigenous coaches input if they've any Yusuf seems clueless I remember back in school where I was always made assistants or deputy leader.. my boss never for once refuse my inputs even at that most of the landsliding achievements we recorded all those times...were my initiative and ideas |

goldfish80: from the previous match played in uyo prior the one of yesterday.....a good coach need no one to tell him that it takes a midfielders who read games and a creative midfield to outsmart the RSA defense...that's why aluko could Savage the day in our last meeting... I was expecting the assistants like Yusuf who have been very much around to proffer the needed advice and also...rohr watch of past clips.... the play pattern wasn't different from our last outing you wanna beat the South Africans....then score them first |

Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by cromz(m): 9:15am On Jun 11, 2017 |
TheGoodJoe:I am not talking about only experience am also talking about quality elderson played woefully as LB,our forwards lacked the creativity to create deadly chances, the passes by our midfielders were too simple and predictable, the defenders lacked a leader someone who could instruct them to play well. our blocking dmf wasn't just good enough. The players I mentioned here if given the chance would perform better than those that played. The wings isn't all about speed and shooting our wingers lackrf vision and creativity they were just running aimlessly. An aluko would hv changed that game. slow calm and visionary wingers are very important to a team. So is the deep Dmf an experienced defender and a good goal keeper all this we lacked in the starting xi against SA yesterday. |

Humility017: Ironically, during the game yesterday I told someone if Aluko was in this team we would tear the South African's defence. Sad we have failed to use that man's talent in our team. |

TheGoodJoe:which of our midfielders have d qualities of masherano or gatuso?? but we have big men who can do the job the likes of ogu, esiti,Mikel agu etc |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by komekn(m): 9:19am On Jun 11, 2017 |
solonnachi: Add to that Sone Aluko proven tested and established quality player. I suggested on this thread ages ago that he brings more to the table than Iwobi. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 9:20am On Jun 11, 2017 |
cromz: An Iwobi in front of the defensive midfield earlier would have created better chances than Etebo, Onazi and Ndidi. Ndidi or Mikel Agu sitting deep in midfield would have provided better shielding. Echiejile playing in a disciplined/defence first fashion would have reduced the gaps in the left side of our defence. That is why I feel we had enough quality to execute the game. With better arrangement we would go far. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 9:22am On Jun 11, 2017 |
cromz: I am talking in respect of Ndidi. Ndidi has exceptional qualities and if he plays in a disciplined fashion and make the shielding responsibility his own, we would have a gem in our hands. |

cromz: Go home, u are drunk. U Contradicted ur academy claim with Akanji suggestion (though he's been capped by the swiss) Tiago Ilori? Are you for real? Do u even know how he has been faring ever since he left Sporting? Another academy player(at Liverpool) and now a bench warmer at Reading in the Championship. Nedum Onuoha? Experienced CB? What international football experience does Nedum have? BTW, have u ever seen Nedum suited up as a CB? Nedum is average at best and his position is RB. Nedum isn't as good as what we already have, besides he ditched us when he was a bit above average, I would rather we brought back Ambrose than give Nedum a call up, lest for remain patient till Aina's case is sorted out. We also have Nura in the pipeline. Ligali if throughly he is a Nigerian, check Ideye the hustler, check Aluko, check Ajagun? I would go for Azu Okechukwu instead. |

Dedebanky85: This is the heart of the problem discarding tried, tested and proven quality experienced players. For young upstarts who play in youth teams in low level teams and leagues and or are confirmed bench warmers. If you are not making waves in your club how on earth are you supposed to make waves in the SE. There are exceptions if you are in Real Madrid, Chelsea with top world class players limiting your opportunities. |

Dedebanky85: This is the heart of the problem discarding tried, tested and proven quality experienced players. For assumed new emerging talent, Mbappe, Rashford, Dele, these are classed as new emerging talent not players who are on the bench or youth team players. We have a warped definition of new talent. For young upstarts who play in youth teams in low level teams and leagues and or are confirmed bench warmers. If you are not making waves in your club how on earth are you supposed to make waves in the SE. There are exceptions if you are in Real Madrid, Chelsea, etc, with top world class players limiting your opportunities. |
