Guys, do we play better with two strikers upfront or with a single striker? I wanna know y'all opinions. Osimhen was kinda off in the Liberia game. Man got me doubting his reliability. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by 12large1: 11:31pm On Sep 08, 2021 |
Stormtrooper11:It depends on your opponents. For example, if we're playing a superior opponent (Fifa ranking wise) 352 will be more balanced and adequate while when playing and inferior opponent, 442, 433 can be utilized. I want kelechi and osimehn partnership to continue but it should be done in a 352 formation 3 Likes |

Meliforme: I mean Ndidi can play and act as CM as it's noticeable in his going forward in recent games just like kante does for Chelsea. Then aribo can steb back while he does and vice versa |

12large1: You are correct, but there are instances where crossing the ball Is sine qua non. |

12large1:I understand. But don't you feel that 352 exposes our defensive weaknesses? |

Stormtrooper11: Not really. 352 when attacking and 532 while defending is such a solid formation if your RWB and LWB understand thier position, has a powerful Fitness level and can cross the ball. |

joelsteron: Aribo shouldn't step back for Ndiidi, Aribo has better offensive qualities. This kind of switching will affect the way our team is set up. Our opponents will take advantage of this and deal with us. 1 Like |

Meliforme: He is a dribbler, so it is easy for him to read body language. Dribbling goes both ways, both offensively and defensively. His only problem is his stamina. He gasses out to quickly and then gets lost. 2 Likes |

samtol4: Well I think Ejuke has played himself into the team It's Onyekuru that's not quite sure for now.. And it's all because Baba Rohr has refused to give him opportunities to show what he can really do Start Onyekuru for friendly, Baba no go hear.. 1 Like |

Meliforme:While it might not be the only thing, it sure hugely increases your chances of scoring. Just like Samu, they both have pace and trickery but if you are not creating chances for your striker or better still converting them then we might struggle against a well organised team. I have just gone through a lot of the highlights of African qualifiers. If you do have time to please have a look at them. You will see why I keep on talking about crosses. 1 Like |

samtol4:Pound for Pound. Moses is still far better than Onyekuru. The only thing I like about Onyekuru is that he has eyes for goal. Ejuke knows how to dribble but he messes up the attack too often. He holds the ball for too long, giving the defense an opportunity to mark others. If he can add quick passing, he'll be more useful and dangerous. 4 Likes 1 Share |

drDoom3: This is not true. Only Ahmed Musa has a better staying power (stamina) than EJuke, if you are to grade the stamina of the wingers we have. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by chrisooblog: 10:04am On Sep 09, 2021 |
For now under Rohr his preferred setup is to use a lone striker which has served us well during his tenure. Kelechi in the beginning, Ighalo and now Osimhen have all done reasonably well under this system. But I suspect you think like I do that a system which utilizes 2 forwards will be absolutely devastating to the opposition. Personally I think God has blessed Gernot with strikers and wingers that all have different strengths and attributes so trying to come up with a good balance should be possible. For the Liberia game I think many factors contributed to Victor's below par showing. The pitch didn't help also the supporting cast were often not on the same wavelength with him. Like Supernerd so expertly broke down their were two glaring occasions that Aina and Ndidi out to have passed to him but choose the wrong option. Anyway strikers have their off days. Aubameyang and Salah were ineffective in the Gabon vs Egypt game so it happens. Thing is forwards like Victor not matter what kind of game they are having can always nip in to score a vital goal when it matters most. Stormtrooper11: 1 Like |

I would have to see Ejuke in more matches before I can judge if he tires out or not. Like others have said I really appreciate his defensive discipline and awareness off the ball. Meliforme: |
