TFLASHOGEE: I sensed sarcasm in Anthony's voice when he said : that's obviously the WC or Olympics; but he just tried to keep it professional . I also burst into laughter but had to stop when I reminded myself that there's nothing impossible in life. |

12large1:It is not by increasing the number of African teams at the WC that will guarantee an African team doing well at the WC. It is about improving the quality of football our national teams play. Compare the quality of the Afcon for example with the Euros. If your point is about equalization of the number of African teams to balance with that of Europe as a way of increasing the number of teams representing Africa, I'd say you have a point but to stretch that and make the argument for increased representation a guarantee for an African team excelling, is an overreach. 6 Likes |

A tactically sound Coach has the Tools to succeed as Super Eagles Coach. Maduka still gonna get picked ahead of Uzoho by any Coach as GK. Backline..... Aina, Akpoguma, Balogun and Sanusi should always be the first Choice based on Form and Clubs' pedigree. Middle...... Onyeka and Ndidi pivot gonna be hard to break. Attacking Midfielders...... Chukwueze, Iwobi and Aribo. Forward.... no other choice but Osimhen. Musa, Simon, Onuachu, Shehu, Omeruo shouldn't ever make the List again. Instead, Awoniyi for Onuachu, Ebuehi for Shehu Lukman for Simon, Moffi for Musa, and hopefully Olise or Ejaria for Omeruo (enough of packing Defenders in the Squad). 7 Likes 5 Shares |

Mujtahida: Don’t defend the colonizers they don’t have your best interest at heart. World Cup allocation should be equalize by continent and impartial referees should officiate games. African team will excel at the World Cup on those terms |

Oasis001: If we’re being honest and partial in selection, Orono doesn’t deserve to start. This season alone, Emmanuel dennis has been Nigeria best player at EPL but he isn’t even getting invited. In turkey league, nwakaeme has been our best player but no invite 3 Likes |

Oasis001:Zidane proved himself? How? What had he won (your premise oo) before his appointment? Gaudiola too had really not won anything per se or rather his victory with the B team can also be the equivalent of Amunike's U-17 victory. So that means that they are coaches (safarigirl has supplied more names) who were appointed to well known clubs without any winning pedigree as such. Although Zizou and Gaudiola's coaching successes have justified their appointments, at the time they were appointed, it was all a risk. Westehof was virtually unknown when he was appointed. See when a person succeeds, it makes everything good. I understand your point about track record (at least Buhari has taught us a bitter lesson not to overlook a person's pedigree) but it's all a risk. 6 Likes |

TFLASHOGEE: Lol, I think say na only me notice am. Some of these ex internationals are just something else. They make you feel like they won the World Cup in the past and Rohr has come to scatter everything they built. They are annoying and fun to listen to at the same time. I remember an interview where one of them was told to give his opinion on Benjamin Mendy's case and the guy said Mendy was just so unlucky as he didn't know the girls he carried were underage(which I think is true) but what made me laugh was when he said : Thank God say them no catch us when we dey do our own 2 Likes |

Please, if we are talking about dropping Shehu, Musa and Ighalo permanently, we're supposed to add Omeruo to the list, because why is he still getting invites? How many players from AFCON '13 are still in their national teams getting regular invites? These are the issues. 4 Likes |

12large1:What's about defending the colonizers? That's a red herring you snucking into the conversation to give it a different slant. Your argument is : the more the number of African teams =the better performance of African teams. And to me that's no good argument if the quality of our continental picks is below par. If you like increase it to 20, if the teams are poor, they'd get beat. It has nothing to do with defending colonizers. Quality teams are quality teams. It has nothing to do with the number of representation. Africa had two teams in Italia 90. Cameron got to Qfinals cos they had a good team. Heck they beat Argentina sef. USA 94 it was increased to 3 because of the strong performance of Cameroun and Egypt. In 1998 it was increased to 5. My point is that you can argue for increased representation. What I disagree with is to say increased representation guarantees better performance. As per officiating, is it only the colonizers who officiate? Yes, officiating should be improved. 2 Likes |

Oasis001: I disagree with excluding Onuachu. He offers an entirely different skillset to Osimhen that can be useful in some circumstances. Better finishing, aerial ability and static strength (Osimhen is dynamically strong, Onuachu is statically strong). There are situations where you use players like Onuachu to unlock tight games (e.g Benin) but of course Rohr doesn't know how to maximize the skillset of our players and that's why Onuachu looks poor with the SE. If not that Osimhen is the kind of player that can succeed anywhere, Rohr's tactics would have made him look like a headless chicken in the SE jersey, the way it has with players like Onuachu for example. 5 Likes 1 Share |

Oasis001: Emmanuel Amuneke came to the on-going FIFA U-17 World Cup as one of the rookies in the coaching business, but the former Barcelona star has been able to confound even the ‘experts’ in the game with his unorthodox tactics that has made everybody to sit up and take notes. After Sunday’s 3-0n defeat of Brazil, the FIFA Technical Study Group (TSG) saddled with the responsibility of ‘monitoring international matches and identifying latest footballing trends’ applauded the tactical savvy of Coach Amuneke for the ease with which they dispatched the Samba Boys. “Sincerely, we (TSG panel) have tried to understand the tactics you are using but it is confusing,” Curry told Amuneke matter-of-factly. If you sit down and reflect on this, you will understand the gift. Amunike did not put play good football alone. He made confounding tactical switches that even experts found difficult understanding. That is deep. Very deep. 2 Likes |

Oasis001: I disagree to call Amunike's U20 stint a failure. It is failure for those who just look at result and not the work behind it. That team played over 50 matches and lost only one. If that was a league performance, he would be celebrated. By the way, even the game he lost took a sabotage. He had to play on a waterlogged pitch at Teslim Balogun during a rainy season when we had other pitches that would suit the passing style of the team. 6 Likes 1 Share |

12large1:Stop sounding like a delusional broken record, most African teams can't even boast of a decent stadium or the fact that some teams can pull out qualifiers due to one reason or the other like Chad did in 2015. Which continent do players like those from Djibouti and Eritrea flee to when they go for away games or I suppose FIFA and your so called colonizers will have to consider all these factors in your proposal. If Djibouti players go for play off in Australia how many of them will come back to complete the qualifiers? 4 Likes |
