Mujtahida: Will you describe ruggedity as the Super Eagles game? It was more about running and stamina. No matter how good the opposing team is, we will do our best to out work them. Not ruggedity. Why not list Amunike, Finidi, Celestine, Iroha, Chidi Nwanu etc as rugged. Maybe Okocha was rugged. Or Adokie Amiesemaka, or Segun Odegbami. |

Mujtahida: Please Van Gaal is pure possession football. One of his criticisms at Manchester United was his obsession for possession football. https://totalfootballanalysis.com/head-coach-analysis/the-netherlands-202122-how-they-are-playing-in-possession-under-louis-van-gaal-scout-report-tactical-analysis-tactics

Mujtahida: I think a lot of misconception comes with when people listen to Guardiola. Guardiola took a swipe at Bayern players because they had not understood the system. Guardiola wanted them to know that there is a decision that goes behind every pass. A purpose to it. Not just passing for the sake of it. It does not mean he hates heavy possession or hate tiki taka football. He hates passing for just passing he wanted them to see a purpose behind every pass. I think this is where many people misunderstood it and forgiveness thinks Guardiola abandoned it. He never did. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 8:10am On Nov 24, 2021 |
Mujtahida: Keep it simple - The Philosophy of Xavi in a nutshell. "I think he follows the same philosophy as Guardiola," Al Sadd's Guilherme Torres told ESPN. "Having possession and enjoying the game, but not just having possession. Sometimes you see teams with 80% possession, but only one shot on goal. I posted this earlier from Xavi. This is strictly what Guardiola is saying. It is down to interpretation. Keep the ball, have heavy possession but every pass must have a purpose. I also used Xavi's rondo session earlier with Barcelona, highlighting finding room to give a through pass with multiple passing. The aim is to break down the opposition, disorganize them and create passing channels for players between the lines of defence. Not just passing for the sake of it. cc: forgiveness |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 8:16am On Nov 24, 2021 |
I loathe all that passing for the sake of it, all that tiki-taka. It's so much rubbish and has no purpose. You have to pass the ball with a clear intention, with the aim of making it into the opposition's goal. Don't believe what people say. Barca didn't do tiki-taka! It's completely made up! Don't believe a word of it!...Guardiola https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2234051-pep-guardiola-calls-tiki-taka-rubbish-admits-that-he-loathes-all-the-passing So Guardiola is talking of the media's interpretation of what he played with Barcelona. He was talking about their understanding of it. Tiki Taka which they saw as just passing the ball repeatedly. He wanted his Bayern players to understand that every pass was with an intention to break down the defense of the opposition. He noticed some players had chances to give killer passes to destabilize the opposition but chose to make simple passes to please him. Guardiola was letting them know that was not the aim. Not that he hated what he played while coaching Barcelona. Big misconception. cc: Mujtahida, forgiveness 1 Like |
