TheGoodJoe: Yeah, you need to be glad about that, else you'd see etebo between the sticks in place of Akpeyi, ogu as our main man upfront. On a more serious note I'm pro-nacho anyday, anytime. I love the kid. Here are what rorh can achieve if he sends him to the bench. 1. Iheanacho may not need a whole 90 minutes to make an impact everyday. 2. He needs to remember that he's dispensable anytime, he still needs to fight for his spot. 3. He can read the game, capitalize on the inadequacies in the Cameronian defense and deal with them. 4. Cameroon, just like you and me would predict most of our starting 11 and would study and see them, understand their game, see how to stop them. Just one change would disrupt their strategies against us. Eg : Manutd vs Chelsea when Murinho dropped ibrahimovic for Rashford who had an abysmal goal scoring record in the league at that time. 2 Likes |

My point was Onyekuru was quoted as saying the CF role is his preferred role. I had seen it in him that he will thrive even better in that role. The modern day forward can play all 3 roles. We need to bury that idea of a natural number 9. In fact today's modern coaches have different preferences as to the qualities their chosen number 9 should have. Football is evolving faster than we think. TheSuperNerd: 2 Likes |

Abi o. U will notice I stopped commenting about it Even OGN has not posted anything new in a little while when I checked. Well I guess that's why it's called rumors. It can go either way. Iheanacho next! TheSuperNerd: |

Joebie:You just pointed out what alot of people still do not understand about modern football, contrary to what people believe that when the going gets tough you need a tall target man when the reality is that target men are one of easiest kind of strikers to mark out of a game, because they can be predictable...but now the best coaches in the world prefer a skillful, technical, pacy and diminutive CF who has some certain degree of workrate and defensive contribution...people here amaze me when they say iheanacho is not a 9, Just because he is very creative?...The best strikers in the world are some of the most creative players in the game, Suarez, griezman and aubameyeng have exceptional vision which is one of their strengths, so would we now say because they have too good vision they should now be played as SS or AM when they have an exceptional goal scoring ability? They are not the most physically imposing but still get the job done, so why can't iheanacho also do so? His biggest strength in his game is his finishing, why not take advantage of that to the fullest while still having exceptional vision? 5 Likes |

and Chile just got robbed. what is the essence of having the VAR when teams still get robbed? |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Mickael2(m): 9:35pm On Jun 28, 2017 |
Loogan: but when things get out of hand even the best teams employ a target man. when Barcelona starts losing a game, Pique goes forward and becomes the target man. When Man U starts losing a game, they start pulling long balls towards Ibra etc etc. the point we were making was that by virtue of how the match against south Africa was going, we needed a target man for our long balls. remember also that most of our midfielders were using long balls so why not implement a system/players that will utilise those long balls? 3 Likes |

And today, your boy friend didn't even have the courage to step up and take a penalty as the same Chile schooled them! gosh, I am so happy for Chile. For over 4 years I have been hearing about how Leo can't beat Chile but today the so called "winner" fake Ronaldo couldn't beat the same Chile either O pari o bataderemi: |

Icon4s: that is why people like Komekn are complaining about Anichebe's absence and players like that, however I believe that even a midfielder can be a target man like Ogu for example but the problem is that you look at our entire bench and none of them can win a header so there we have a problem and that is why I am questioning the coach's integrity. 1 Like |

TheGoodJoe: this means that you have failed to understand what we are arguing. we are not taking about modern coaches here, we are talking about what concerns us, Nigerian teams presently. modern coaches in modern leagues might prefer a flashy 9 but here in Africa we still play this kinda game that makes it difficult for slippery strikers to thrive so you either adapt or get left behind. Nacho might be a wonderful striker at club level but for the national team playing in Africa he could be utterly useless there because he will be marked out. nobody is here to argue about modern coaches because this is not a thread for European teams 1 Like |

Mickael2: It easier to cast blames. Iheanacho was (still is) our best striker going into that game. What I thought the coach could have done was to Play Iheanacho and Kayode together in that second half. And then swapped roles between Etebo and Iwobi. Ogu ke? You think wining of headers is all only about height? And besides I hope you know that most defenders and midfielders, even those that are good aerially, find it difficult to keep the heading on target. They mostly head wide. BTW Anichebe for real? You mean this thing? 4 Likes |

Mickael2: Here in Nigeria, our Super Eagles coach is Rohr who plays a modern system of play. So suggesting an archaic system will not work. |

Icon4s:Exactly Sir,that was single tactical decision rohr should have made by switching to a 4-4-2 in that S.A game when the long balls weren`t working out but man just exposed his below par tactical decision making by removing nacho when he should have played nacho and kayode together upfront. This was exactly what rohr did against senegal by playing them both in front and moved etebo to the left wing. This however led to our goal in that game as kayode moved to press a senegal defender who lost the ball to him while he in turn held up the ball for nacho to move ahead of him while also under pressure from 2 senegalese defenders before laying the ball for nacho 1v1 against the goalkeeper who tripped him in the box which led to our penalty in the game. But rohr removed our most lethal finisher for kayode whose patnership with nacho would have been better, with kayode pressing their high defence line and nacho attacking the space left by the defenders would have produced some goal but rohr messed it up. 2 Likes |

From the matches I'm seeing at this confedcup it will take African teams a bit of luck and more preparations to reach the semi final of the WC. And by the way, Nigeria still has a long way to go. See Germans with unknown names spoiling the party for Mexico. Last night the tempo between Chile and Portugal was overwhelming 1 Like |

Loogan: Tell me which defenders will not describe playing against any of these players as a nightmare. Players listed below are a defenders worst nightmare first of all they do not need a lot of support on thier own they can unsettle, disrupt and dismantle am entire defensive line up. Kane Ibrahimovic Benteke Lukaku Conte Balotelli Drogba (in his prime) I would consider your proposition as being without any substance what so ever. You suggest that target men are devoid of skill, speed, vision and lack creativity. The opposite is the case the best of them simply bring everything to the table. 2 Likes |
