Every football game has an element of luck and fortitude. The team that prepares properly creates team cohesion and through working as a team can beat better teams with sheer hard work and determination.

Nonetheless, cream always rises to the top.

Last AFCON Algeria and Senegal were the best teams and Senegal was unlucky.

If anything we were lucky to get as far as we did.

On paper we are underdogs, there are at least 5 teams better than us on paper. Teams that win usually have a world class top player, that gives them an edge.

what do you mean? How were we lucky? If anything Algeria were lucky to reach semi, they edged out Ivory Coast via pk in the quarters

From studying Eguavoen so far, my deduction is this: Ejuke is his joker. He fancies Olayinka. He thinks the team has missed a lot of creativity in the attack, hence Nwakali.

If everything works well for him, he is going for broke. If his plans doesn't work well (due to lack of the right mix of players), he'll play safe like Rohr. Lol. Except that he'll be more attack minded.

Not bad yeah.

Sometimes judging your team's chances based on who is available or not is not the way to go.

In 2013 Osaze was out and out our best striker using EPL pedigree but we didn't take him. Same with Martins who I think was playing in La Liga then.

At the end of the day what happened? Emenike from a ''farmers'' league carried our goal scoring burden even though before the AFCON he was largely unrated.

So it's rather premature to say without Osimhen, Dennis and Ighalo we don't have hope.

I think everything depends on Eguavoen philosophy as a coach.Stephen Keshi believe so much in bullish striker like Emenike. He love them strong and tall, athletic sort of.

Let's wait for Eguavoen to unleash his team against Egypt.

I've been here for a very very long time. Far longer than most folks here, maybe most folks here don't know this. And if there is one thing I have realized here, it is the level of maturity that has dropped when we talk about football and express ourselves. Please let us grow up.

I'm more of a peace maker, a gentle mind, than a rebel. Nothing gingers me more than peaceful environments. In fact, I recall when thesupernerd had issues here long ago and left to form his own similar federal republic of football in the sport section. I was the one who went there in his thread to CONSISTENTLY plead with him to come back home, here. No other person cared, but I took time to plead with him to forget the issues he had with anyone here and Come home. He came back.

Please, I'm begging all. Let's not bully anyone here, ever again. Talk football and express your opinion withou insults and hateful words. Nobody hate your favourite footballer, nobody is after your best player, nobody wants to steal your wife and rob your money, so why all the mindless tantrums?

If you disagree with anyone, air your points with civil words. If you are being disrespected, ignore the person and move on. Let us be mature. We nor dey drag anything for real life. Na fun we come catch here.

Life too short to be angry in real life and still be angry here. Nobody dey have am easy for this Buhari economy. We know. But once you're here, let us forget our life problems and just talk football. If someone is getting good reviews here and people are liking the person, nor get jealous and find how to counter or attack the person. Learn from the person instead. Befriend the person and argue with corrections and love.

Because las las, nobody come here come toast woman or hustle for money. Na happiness and self healing vibes carry us come.

If you're depressed, take it away from here. If you never fxxk for long, go cure your konji— get a good partner and fxxk wella; nor come spoil our own joy in Jesus name.

Thank you.

forgiveness:

Osimhen 9 goals are 3 assists
Dennis 8 goals and 5 assists
Awoniyi 14 goals and 3 assists
Dessers 10 goals and 3 assists
Onuachu 14 goals

Can you please explain?

Your KPI's are flawed and don't give a balanced assessment.

Generally most clubs look at league performance not cup games essentially because you could be playing a 5th tier club and score 10 goals giving a skewed deduction of your true abilities.

The EPL is the most competitive league and best league in the world. It's the most physically taxing and fast. So scoring in the Eredivisie is not the same as the EPL.

Therefore my assessment approach will be on competitive league games not cup games, which gives a better insight.

Games. Goals League

Dennis 17 - 8 - EPL
Awoniyi 17 - 9 - Bundesliga
Osimhen 11 - 5 - Seria A
Dessers 14 - 4 - Eredivisie
Onuachu 18 - 12 - Belgium 1st
Umar S. 19 - 7 - Segunda

Statistics are still not conclusive just indicative. So most top teams will go further in their recruitment assessment and a whole range of stats on will be appraised with a matchreport by scouts and analysts who would watch him in a quite a few game's.

But the more stats you have the better the picture you have of the player's. You also look at context which means the substance and quality of the league.

So lets look at Sadiq Umar , sentiment aside, unless he has improved, it's hard to say because the league he is in is not very competitive.

He is number 7 in the top scorers table in the Segunda Division. Three players above him are all older than him three of them are 35,39 and 40 and have left better leagues even Chinese and retired to the Segunda. Add to that Sadiq has the lowest conversion rate among the top 25 . He had 51 shots and scored 7 with only 22 on target.

Now before my detractors say HATE statistics don't lie.

I would not be able to justify his inclusion on this list particularly when you have Onuachu and quite a few others David Okereke all playing in first tier leagues in the top 5 for some and top 10 leagues for others.

I see a very lackadaisical attitude in the NFF recruitment strategy IMO just like our politicians characterised by recycling of the old never seeking the NEW.

Epl, la liga and Seria are the Big 3. Their goals holds more weight than any other league that’s why I said “on current form”.. bundesliga and Lique 1 are among the big 5 but they’re still farmers league.. to me, 1 goal scored at Epl, la liga and Seria is an equivalent of 1.75 at bundesliga and Lique 1 while 2 at all other backwater league
When last did a serie A team won the UCL?

That's an entirely different discussion and there was no justification for their exclusion.

The question should be how much better we could have been IMO

Then the real testament is where did those players get to after the tournament. And where did the ones excluded rise to

That's the real judgement.

Senegal had the best team in 2017 they choked, 2019 they lost, way back in 2002 they lost. The favorites tag might be heavy on them.

As for Algeria yes they are very capable of doing a repeat but 2019 was abit surprising most people didn't outrightly pick them to lift the trophy.

I agree aggressively grin

There will be upsets and no amount of analysis can predict that.

Nigeria could win it's very possible albeit it unlikely on the other hand we could get kicked out in the first round.

It's football nobody really knows.
