Dont blame AE after afcon he said he wanted to return to his role as technical director but you refused... What stopped the nff from getting an experienced international coach for the two games, ghana did so why couldnt nigeria ?

It's not just about us refusing, it's the minister, worst still, he could had resigned to show he was serious,

Now we are we're we are, no two ways about it, the larger blame drop at his step,

Okoye's blasting was because he is fine and a lady's man.

So, most of the men were just full of envy. Their comments always referred to fine boy ,model, women, instagram, etc.

Instead of them to focus on their attackers and midfielders that refused to score, na Maduka dem face.

Our attackers did not score in open play on the 2 legs. How can go to the world cup without scoring goals? If by chance you land there by a stroke of luck, na disgrace u go carry come from there.

It is safe to admit we don't deserve to be at the WC if we couldn't beat Ghana. If our team was in Ghana's shoes in terms of players, I'd have held my head high if we didn't qualify..but with this team we have? They deserve flak!

Our ousting at Afcon stung because it was a very unlucky and unfortunate incident, but this one? We got what was coming to us ni

We wanted him gone because of that Mahrez strike, which people refused to admit was a quality one and in the next 2 competitions we saw 2 errors that were way worse.

They wanted him gone because he isn’t their favorite jare and they refuse to forget the Argentina game which was just a friendly

Akpeyi hasn’t cost us like those 2 GK we parade

I noticed some of us are blaming Amaju Pinnick.
Amaju is not to be blamed, we, top OAP's, ex eagles and most especially Sunday Dare are to be blamed. Sacking Rohr few days to a major tournament will go down as one of the greatest sports harakiri for Nigeria.

Amaju only fault was not sacking Rohr after last nations cup but Rohr met his target.
When did they sign Ghana and Cameroon's coach?

Let's be clear here:

We did not lose to Ghana. They simply qualified over us on account of away goals.

*This thread will not be closed*

It has a lot of brilliant contributions, analysis, data and is an invaluable resource library / repository on Nigerian football and footballers

Furthermore, this thread has transcended Nigerian football into our personal lives as connections have been made and friendships have been forged here.

The thread will only be renamed to reflect our future aspirations and I welcome suggestions for that.

Those advocating for the closure of this thread do not mean it in that sense of it. They are only still smarting from the loss. And we can understand their grievances. Anyone who is passionate about Nigerian football will find a way to channel his or her displeasures. Unlike those who invaded the pitch after yesterday's game to loot and create commotion as a way of channeling their grievance everyone

TheGoodJoe is fixated with particular players who he believes meet and exceed the standards.

I have a bias for Nigerian origin players in the UK , but it's both emotive and objective. But that bias is knowledge ,it is participative and it's involvement based. That means l know a lot more about European and particularly English football.

Bias in this context means specialist and specific knowledge not prejudicial preference.
True though.

Understood. I'm just trying to put things into perspective. Morocco and Tunisia didn't qualify for 2010 nor 2014. Similarly. Algeria, Cameroon, Ghana and Ivory Coast were all absent last year. Nigerians should not beat themselves up over this.

Now we're back to Akpeyi. grin

MEERY GO ROUND grin

You people have quickly forgotten that what made Akpeyi to be blamed was not even Mahrez freekick. He fumbled throughout the entire AFCON. There was one when he was given a back pass and it almost entered the net. He will jump on a corner and spill the ball.

Andrew you sef get mind to dey campaign for Akpeyi. Someone Kaizer Chiefs is hoping to offload this year. He hasn't even played since January.

Like I earlier asked before the match, why can't Nigeria also sign a coach with top coaching exposure on the top 5 league or a technical director of such capacity? Is it a question of money? Enough with all this mediocre coaches. What you put in determines what you get out.

We have good goalkeepers at home. Austin Oladapo is better than all the midfielders in Super Eagles except Ndidi. Oladapo can shoot from anywhere.

He is better than all the midfielders. He can shoot from anywhere. All talk. Why has he not shot his team into CAF champions league or keep them in the CAF confed cup

He cannot qualify his team for champions league yet he will do it in the FIFA world cup qualifiers. You're wise.
