I understand they feel hurt because of the torrents of vile abuse they suffered but they can't avoid playing for Nigeria forever unless they are saying they want to retire.

Mistakes and emotional reactions from fans is part and parcel of the game sadly. Beckham messed up in France 1998 The England fans insulted him sotey they even hanged an effigy of him getting hanged.

Saka, Rashford and the other guy his name escapes me missed penalties at the Euros last time and we all saw the English fans came for them.

As long as the NFF and national team coaches rate them that's all that matters. Use future great performances to shut your critics up.

As an aside our fans need to know how to control their emotions better no cursing or wishing death on a player and his family it's not that deep.

You can't even compare the level of support and love Saka, Rashford and Sancho got, to the criticism they got. the English FA and government even came out to caution fans against insult and slurs.

What has NFF done for these players? What have they done to prevent all these? Even in the NFF you still find people criticizing the players.

As dey refuse to play you now call them "ekuke". Osimhen and Iheanacho also pulled out too. What will you call them?

See, we must learn to be less brutal as a people. Not every player is mentally strong to take a shit load of criticism without counter support from fans as well. Playing for Nigeria is now becoming a scary thing because of over emotional fans without self control. You hardly see fans around the world heavily criticize their own players. The worst thing you'll hear them calling on the coach to bench him. But in Nigeria, we insult our players down to their underwears.

With time, players become either non-chalant or might refuse to play entirely. Many of these players are already devastated as a result of mistakes and we add our own on it. I remember the rubbish some prominent people online were typing after our losses to Tunisia and Ghana, because they were angry. These days I get scared for the kind of criticism a Nigerian player will collect if we lose than we actually losing.

Look, karma or whatever, doesn't exist. That players pull out doesn't mean that God will find a replacement to punish them. A player can pull out and you'll never see an equal replacement in 30 years.

I don’t need to read but you are just being emotional because of Maduka

I will get back to this newspaper you put up there .

The bolded is absolutely not true... Nigerian fans will issue threats online, but how many of such threats have ever been carried out? You are trying to imply that Nigeria has the most fanatical set of football fans in the world..how??
Uzoho and Okoye simply can't deal with the presume they are facing at the moment and that's understandable..Not everybody has a tough mentality...
Akpeyi got a lot of sticks from fans after the 2019 AFCON, but he didn't quit... Ighalo got his own share of insults after the world cup,but came back to win the fans over with his performance at the AFCONQ and tournament proper... Players like Musa and Shehu have been getting the stick from fans since forever and they are still here..

I'm not condoning what the fans did to Uzoho and Maduka, but they should understand that it's work hazard..it's all part of the game... Their pulling out won't matter much cus they can easily be replaced...

They are not that good enough to be considered not easily replaceable. Our goalkeeping department is so bad that even if we change goalkeepers we can't see the difference.

The most Nigerians can do to you is insult you. After that one nothing else. We have way too much problems in our hands to be going after players physically.

Nigerians are now so used to toxicity and being treated like crap that they now see evil behaviour as a normal way of life. You'll even find a lot of them encouraging it. Background/upbringing matters a lot. A large part of our humanity relies on the nature of our upbringing.

can’t really blame them, they are really traumatized, another mistake and Nigerians will lose it with them. Several reports said the team spent the larger part of half time consoling Uzoho during the Ghana game, Okoye was moody and unhappy till they left camp during Afcon plus Okoye and his family were threatened. They’ll be fine though.
it doesn't really works that way.... coming back stronger would have been a perfect response

Pulling out of the friendlies because of criticism is a silly move. It shows they lack the mentality

I think a good number of SE players are really gutted to miss out of Qatar.

Being used as training materials by world cup bound teams is demotivating.

That's a primary issue the new coach and NFF have to address.

Over to Sebastien Osigwe or Akpeyi and Ezenwa. Either way, Ike Shorunmu is now having a bigger job of finding the new Vincent Enyeama. I wish him all the best. If he mess up he go colet.

Exactly.

Nff hasn't done anything.

Big names in sport influence have not done anything to rally support and campaign for show of love in a way. Just to tell Nigerians to desist from such actions next time. Accumulated pain and frustration in arrears is still hanging over the SE brand then this new one again. Both sides have a case but never should we go the Escobar way. Nff should do something. These guys are not safe to walk cos if they are seen in public lasan, big wahala if angry fans spot them. I'm sure the threats have gone that far.
Right now, winning Afcon may change all these furore.

Daniel, hope you know Akpeyi still get threats for that 2019 goal? Now imagine the messages those two will get? Are you trying to deflect that Nigerian Fans aren't fanatical in nature? Just club football alone, they kill over that.

Like a wavelength thing, fans are a mix of both: fanatical and most loving and supportive. Remember the way they chanted for Iwobi and Osaze? For these two to want to pause, then death threats are real and nobody can guarantee safety right now so safe way out.

Balogun is better than Omeruo.

Bassey benches Balogun for club.

Awaziem is good but a journeyman. I can’t rate him until he becomes relevant in Europe. Similar to Awoniyi pre-Union, abundant talent but needs to settle and prove himself.

Bassey starts over all our CBs today. I can’t remember any CB we have had in recent years that is consistently performing at such a high level.

Regarding the statement in bold letters, I think the club wants to sell Bassey, one of the strong reasons but not the only reason why he sometimes starts in central defense, they are also marketing his versatility. I have analysed Balogun and Bassey very closely, i believe Balogun has the edge.
