This is a post, about Iwobi, I found in an Arsenal forum. Thought it's funny so I reckon I should share it with you guys:

"The fact that he chose Nigeria is proof that he’s got a good head on his shoulders. As someone rightly said in another thread recently, imagine the hype if he was English. He would be the next Pele already. Plus he would have to associate with slime like Rooney and sterling to name but a couple. And Nigeria are more likely to win the world cup than England anyway. Hell, Nigeria are probably more likely to win a European championship than England. Best off away from that nonsense. England’s loss will be Arsenal’s gain, I’m sure".

I agree with you on this one Sir. Now aside Brown Ideye and Ighalo, which other Nigerian Internationals should be considered for the Striking roles.

Note. Wobi and Nacho are out of this.

Ighalo can be the arrow head for now. But post Russia 2018, I would love to have seen some one like Victor Osimhen as our arrow head.
Isaac Success too should be given a shot while coping with likes of Ighalo, Ideye and Adi.

You are totally right, Ndidi was better at that RB than Echiejile at the LB. Most of the zambians attacking threats came from that side, that no10 skinned him several times and successfully stripped him nakedly with that shot pass he deliver to that no9 that leaded to their goal.

Ndidi kept kalaba in the right position, the dube had wrong crosses and shot.

Ah...you can lie o. Most of the Zambian attack came from Echiejile? Haba. Did you watch the match?

Ndidi that was being beaten to the point that he started falling kept Kalaba in position? LOL If not that Kalaba has poor delivery, we would have been roasted. Imagine Mahrez roasting Ndidi like that. You go hear am.

Ndidi did his best in an unfamiliar role. He showed lionheart in his adaptive role BUT... It's a no-brainer, he scored the lowest marks among All Of Nigeria's players yesterday. We had about seven to eight solid top top performers yesterday....

The others just did their best.... Ndidi belongs to this "others". And he obviously scored the lowest ratings overall....

Sure I used to think about Adi too but, from all indications, it seems the League he plays in is not that competitive hence his easy scoring performance.

Don't forget, Coach Samson Siasia after monitoring him in training, said he is slow.

I don't know if Fred Sunday can up his game to fill the Shoes. Let's just hope any of the homebased Strikers take us by storm.

For me I can't wait for Osimhen to mature in his game.

It seems hard to spot a striker between ages 20-23 at the moment doing us proud.

Ideye is not different from or better than Ighalo. In the event of Injury to one or both of them, who do we call on as a capable replacement. (don't pray for it though)

I don't know if Siasia really said that because I do watch the MLS on fox sports and he isn't slower than Ideye atleast and he is a pure fox, an aerial ball specialist

I know some people will talk about experience but if you play Ndidi as a defensive midfielder, he will perform very well. I have watched some of his games at Genk and he even looks a better player than Onazi.

I started disliking your formation when I saw Onazi, who is a right footed player anyways, at LB and I'd also fancy Leon at RB instead of Omeruo but okay.

Nwobodo ahead of Victor Moses, Isaac Success, Simon Moses, Ahmed Musa, Imoh Ezekiel even Umar Aminu?! Brother, we have a truckload of quality wingers and Nwobodo is not even close to their quality AT ALL. And Esiti is more like our Chelsea Mikel, we sub him in to balance out the play. Then Etebo as a striker? A lone striker in fact, when has he ever played that formation?

Sometimes I get tired of repeating the same thing.

Ndidi looked poor because he was in his position. That gave the Zambians to have one one duels with him. Most times the Zambians excelled.

Apart from that, Ndidi was not poor in the first half. Made some good passes, got into central defence and made some good interceptions.

Echiejile was not in position a lot of times and gave gaps for the Zambians to exploit. If not for a brilliant game of Omeruo, we would have conceded a lot. Ekong pulled out some aerial balls that came from the left.

The crosses from the right were not accurate because of the presence and battle of Ndidi.

Ndidi had a poor game but he was in position most times. Echiejile was not in position a lot. Not being in position can not receive a tag of playing better.

Depends on the coach and style of play. Yesterday, wing play let us down. We were dangerous keeping possession and passing the ball. With Nwobodo, we can stay organised in the middle and break the opposition with quick passing combinations.

If you remember Kalaba's dive, that was Ndidi deep in the box. As I said, I do not look at one side of the game. Yes, on one on one duels, he was terrible. So was Echiejile. In other aspects, he did better. Echiejile wasted more balls than Ndidi. I remember a pass on the wing that Echiejile passed to the throwing.

There's only one True beast in this Rising Golden Generation... Etebo looks like a beast but he's not a full beast... grin

Etebo is a goals-machine, a driving force of nature in attack... But not a beast. Isaac Success is the BEAST... smiley #official

As for your starting 11.... Hmmmm.... I am trying to like your "weird" backline... It's an option but Onazi as "left back"?? I know he can play right back if told to adapt to the role but at left back?? Hmmm... I'm not sure.

Balogun as Right back will cause another round of debate with the questions: WILL YOU PLAY YOUR BEST CENTREBACK AS A RIGHT BACK EVEN THOUGH HE CAN ADAPT TO THE ROLE? And

WHY NOT OMERUO FOR RIGHT BACK OR A SHEHU ABDULLAHI TO FREE UP BALOGUN FOR THE CentreBack POSITION?

Esiti as the DMF will depend on if Rohr applies this strategy of playing Onazi as a fullback or if Onazi is unavailable (A BIG "GOD FORBID" TO THAT!!!! LOOOOLLLL)

I like the attack.... Nwobodo will cause mayhem in sweet synergy with Nacho and Iwobi...

And Etebo can play that role... He got power and pace and great positioning and most importantly, "FOUR EYES FOR GOALS"... LOOLLLLL

HE'S GOALS-MACHINE ETEBO... smiley but Isaac Success is THE BEAST... wink

Don't wanna speak much...

Wonder what the Big elders and bosses in the house think about your formation and selection smiley

Even when we were keeping possession, Moses Simon's wing position was immensely beneficial, as a true winger he kept the width of the team intact thereby: 1) Reducing the attacking impetus of their LB if not Ndidi would have died in a shorter time
2) He also totally removed their LB from combined defensive duty thereby providing space for the sleek 1-2 touches that we witnessed, without a true winger that formation would not work at all and I am not excited about Nwobodo AT ALL, can someone please show me a youtube link atleast?

In the first half, he actually frustrated Kalaba and Kalaba had to switch sometimes to the Echiejile's wing.

Ndidi's composure when challenging Kalaba deep in the box which got Kalaba booked was masterclass...

But overall, on a day Nigeria was the predominantly better side and convincing in this away win, Ndidi just has to settle for the lowest marks. Takes NOTHING away from His potentials. He's a natural Centreback/DMF anyway.... smiley

What's the this? Etebor can not top strike, he's only good as 10 or SS. Nwobodo should vacate that place for V. Moses, we need experience against the algerian. Esiti will come in later,Onaz owns that place. Then we are good to go..

Sometimes, a team of creative players on the wings are more dangerous than outright wingers. Last season, in some games with Nasri and Silva on the wings. With their positional expansive play, they can stretch the opposition but still keep possession.

Iwobi does not play as an outright winger, running down the flanks. He is part of the passing build-up plays.

Although sometimes, you need a pacy winger when you have gaps created by bombarding full backs.

[b]HOW NIGERIA'S SUPER EAGLES RATE VS ZAMBIA

Individual ratings of Nigeria against Zambia in Ndola today.

8 – Carl Ikeme Man of the Match

Man of the match for Nigeria who made at least four big saves to ensure the Super Eagles record their first-ever win in Zambia. He can be counted on.

6 – Wilfred Ndidi

Played in an unfamiliar right-back and he acquitted himself bar a second-half mistake, which almost allowed Zambia to come back into the game. His long throw-in was poorly headed out for Iwobi to smash home for the first goal.

6 – Elderson Echiejile

Solid showing by the leftback who kept his nerves and let his experience tell in this physical contest.

6 – Kenneth Omeruo

The Chelsea loanee’s mistake led to Zambia’s goal otherwise he was uncompromising in the heart of the Nigeria back four.

7 – William Troost-Ekong

Yet another solid display in the middle of the defence. He has continued to grow in confidence in a Nigeria shirt after making his Eagles debut only last year.

6 - Ogenyi Onazi

He worked hard again to ensure the Eagles defence kept their shape for most of this encounter, particularly late in the game as Zambia went for broke.

6 – Mikel Obi

The skipper did not look match rusty even though he has yet to play for Chelsea in a competitive game this season. He was denied a goal by the Zambia goalkeeper in the second goal. His timely tackle right inside the box in the first half caught the eye.

6 – Alex Iwobi

The Arsenal forward took his goal well to set the tone for a famous victory on the road. He had good understanding with Iheanacho upfront. But his overall contribution in the game was not as remarkable. Probably the tough conditions in Zambia – heat and a poor pitch – affected him more than most of the other players.

6 – Kelechi Iheanacho

He has now scored in Nigeria’s last four games – versus Mali, Luxembourg in friendlies in May as well as last month’s AFCON qualifier against Tanzania and today’s game. He is gradually becoming the leading scorer of the Super Eagles

6 – Moses Simon

His sharpness and endeavour must be the reason he benched Leicester City star Ahmed Musa in this game. He had a chance to get on the scoresheet in the first half after dashed into the box following another defensive slip by the Zambians.

7 – Brown Ideye

The Olympiacos striker may not have scored, but he was full of running and assisted for the second goal when hos clever flick put Iheanacho through on goal. He worked hard for the team

4 - Anderson Esiti

The defensive midfielder struggled to get into the game when he was brought in to add more bodies in the midfield as coach Gernot Rohr tried to defend his team’s 2-1 lead. He certainly had not recovered from a fever, which had initially ruled him out of this match.

Ahmed Musa and Shehu Abdullahi were late subs and did not clock enough time to be rated.

And hey... I am not sparing Echiejile's blushes at all oooo....

That Zambian no.10 take am do lunch too ooooo.... But Echiejile put in a slightly above average shift shaa...

I was so relieved when Nyirenda subbed the big no.10 out.... Only to see the no.18 that was his replacement doing almost the same thing to Echiejile before Esiti's and Ahmed Musa's entrances drove the Zambians back...

That is why I earlier pointed that I look at overall contributions and not only errors. If any wants to give Ndidi low marks, it is okay because people have their opinions. Some coaches like Mourinho or Westerhof can bench a player doing well because of an error.

Some like Wenger and Guardiola will praise the work put in by the player.

The critique of Ndidi is that he was skinned. Apart from that, positioning, he did well. Interceptions, he did well. He did not misplace much passes. Helped in build-up play. Supported the central defence.

you do remember that Silva plays as a wide man for Spain and he provides width there, the guy can play as a true winger so he keeps the width, I am glad you noticed that Iwobi wasn't providing width as much as we needed. Now we are not just talking about a headless winger, we are talking about a winger that is not just dangerous but can keep possession too, Victor Moses plays as an AMF for chelsea these days and his slick combination play with Costa was beautiful, I think he can do thesame cutting in from the wing

The best and the most fair was Goal.com's... In theirs... Ekong was even MOTM. Ikeme was second.

Shows without the error, Omeruo stood a chance if we go by the rating.

I agree with you on this. Ndidi as a DMF and Onazi as a right back yesterday would have forever silenced Kalaba... Looollll

I think that puzzle switch was the only missing item to the game. Kudos to Rohr though.... He's doing good within a short time of taking over. smiley

I love his knowledge of the players and it keeps getting better. smiley

I know some people will talk about experience but if you play Ndidi as a defensive midfielder, he will perform very well. I have watched some of his games at Genk and he even looks a better player than Onazi.

What's the this? Etebor can not top strike, he's only good as 10 or SS. Nwobodo should vacate that place for V. Moses, we need experience against the algerian. Esiti will come in later,Onaz owns that place. Then we are good to go..
Mahrez will destroy echiejile and if you are looking for experienced players, pls lets drop Nacho and Iwobi

Minus that error, Omeruo was a hero yesterday. He was top class.
