Please nairaland, there is one Jones that used to play for Liverpool. For long I have not been hearing that name again.. That guy use to be a very good midfielder, and also has a Nigeria root.

Never knew he had Nigerian roots. But, you are right about him being brilliant. I always liked watching him.

Listen to a kid Vincent Kompany talk. Seems he always had that deep understanding of football.

I thought you said few days ago that his positioning is very poor?

If he didn’t score tonight u would hv cried how bad his positioning and awareness is that made him not to score in 2 matches

U need to learn to comprehend posts prior u post words like this. I criticised his positioning against Inter and even cite how he was well positioned to give Napoli the winning goal against Bologna fhat he has it in him...

Even clarified my comment with some persons that were thinking I was picking on him that I rarely miss Napoli match because of him...and I know what he can offer.

Beautiful! Just Beautiful!

Kompany always had that coaching future in him. His understanding of and views on the game from that age as a young academy player is quite remarkable.

"...the higher the price, the better the player, which ISN'T ALWAYS TRUE" - Kompany from that young age understood that certain average talents would be overpriced and some others even better talent-wise would not cost as much. Time, Circumstance, Opportunity and Perspective all contribute. In the end, he understands the most important thing: It is the actual quality that counts. Not Financial quality but his playing quality before anything else.

"A striker who can MAKE others score is more valuable than a striker who can ONLY Score." - Wow. Golden Comment from a Young Kompany. This is also a view I have held for a long time and still hold when ranking strikers. Funny how he already figured this out as a kid. A Golden Buzzer-Worthy Statement.

Thanks for this Fantastic Clip.

Vincent Kompany and Michael Carrick are my Coaching faves from the Championship of 22/23 so far.

PS: A third fave would be Danish Great, Jon Dahl Tomasson and what he's tryna do with Blackburn.

Brilliant young midfield talent who burst onto the Scenes in 2019/2020 season.

We even revealed his dual/triple nationality on this thread years back. I recall we referenced a post his GF made which exposed his Nigerian roots.

How time flies. Still only 21 and would be 22 by the end of this month but is currently a bit part player at Liverpool. Even a younger Harvey Elliott is more rated in midfield at Red Merseyside now and sees far more gametime compared to Jones.

I know him but never knew he had Nigerian roots .

However, it may be true and not surprising at all. In my estimation at least 60% of all mixed race children in Liverpool are of Nigerian heritage.

We have a less than honourable reputation that is a legacy of the defunct NNSL . And all the sailors who were resident in Liverpool and did so much hit and run with the Local Liverpool women

It's unlikely he will accept a call up from SE, he belongs to the Solanke, Ibe, Barkley, and Billing bandwagon.

okoye was rated among the best in the Dutch league and even won Sparta’s best player of the season before he left for England

It was his performance that attracted Ajax then but the deal didn’t happen before he opted to join watford

In the national team he has been awful but as a coach you will be forced to give him a call up then based on his performance in Holland

I have never rated Okoye. In the national colors he always seemed like a disaster waiting to happen. Take 4 shots on goal and Okoye will chop 3 goals.

Highest African Goalscorers in EPL, only Yakubu Aiyegbeni(95) is on the list, and Riyad Mahrez(78) will soon overtake him. Man has retired a long time ago, enough time to see another Nigerian start and equal, yet....

On the Highest Assist, another Ex-int is the only Nigerian there-Kanu Nwankwo(29) Winfried Zaha just equalled his record.

A line from Tupac's Changes comes to mind at this reality.

Iwobi(25) and Nacho(21) seem to be the only Attackers in the EPL that can do anything about both Records based on how long. But.....

Osimhen is a world class striker now
It’d be poor in my opinion to rate his performance against mediocre and lowly rated teams
We should rate him when Napoli plays Europe’s or Italy’s elites
Let’s see what & how he does against Juve, inter, Roma, Milan
Sampdoria were never a match for this day Napoli
How would he regularly fare against the big boys smiley
After 17 matches they’ve got same points with Arsenal in England lol
Will the Scudetto final come to Naples ?
Does Napoli fold against the big boys ?
Will Osimhen win the Serie A golden boot?
Is he always lethal against the elites like Mbappe for example ?
Only time will tell smiley

Okoye is not Super Eagles standard. Back in the days he would not even had been first choice goalie for our U23 team.

Very good striker yes, but world class , l guess it depends on what your mean by World class.

Has he in his entire career been among the top 3 strikers in a top league .

The first time in his career that he may exceed 15 league gaols in a season is now . Will he be the highest goal scorer in Seria A at the end of the season ❓ l hope he does , because it's about time all the potential is realised with actual goals.

In 2021 Simy scored 20 goals in Seria A but nobody called him world class .

In my opinion the key performance indicator is consistency at the highest level over at least 3 seasons.

So we can say Mane, Salah, Lukaku, Ronaldo, Messi, Benzema, Mbappe, Neymar are world class.

Dusan Vlahovic , 22 years old , is top striker , after two consecutive season at the top of Seria A goal table, but nobody calls him world class. Ciro Immobile is a very good striker but nobody calls him World class. And many would say they are better than V.O.

I think the tag WORLD CLASS is premature, for a player yet to win anything yet.

If you go down that route how many players are SE standard by comparison to the era of Olise, JJay, Finidi, etc.

None of the present goalkeeper are outstanding.

No one is arguing age falsification. The point is the lie that 20/21 years old can pass the wrist MRI scan. That is a bold faced lie.

No it's not.

It's simplistic will everybody have the exact same bone fusion at the same age.

Are we all the same height ❓did we all grow at the same rate ❓❓Did we all stop growth at the same age❓❓❓ Does deprivation ( poverty, malnutrition, poor health care, environmental factors physical and mental ) impact on health and wellbeing and therefore GROWTH ❓❓❓❓❓

The accuracy of the MRI in determining bone fusion is not in dispute. However, the disparities between race genetic and environmental are variable that impact on the age at which bone Fusion will occur in different races and People as well as individuals.

Can you stop making unnecessary emotive based arguments come down from your egoistical high horse and stop making chaotic noise .
