Zidane visits Bayern to learn from Guardiola

The Real Madrid Castilla coach joined Will Sagnol and Claude Makelele in Germany as they aim to complete their Uefa Pro Level Three licence

Real Madrid icon Zinedine Zidane has travelled to Munich to pick up some coaching expertise from former Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola.

The former France star, currently head coach of the Real Madrid Castilla side, has already been earmarked as a potential successor to Carlo Ancelotti at the helm of the senior side at Santiago Bernabeu.

Along with former international team-mates Claude Makele and Willy Sagnol, Zidane has joined a delegation attending Bayern's training centre on Sabener Strasse to watch Guardiola lead a session on Wednesday.

Zidane, Makele and Sagnol - currently head coach of Bordeaux - are attempting to acquire their Uefa Pro Level Three coaching licence as they look to begin their careers in the dugout in earnest.

Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge welcomed the group at the training ground ahead of their three-day spell in Germany.

Zidane, who has also visited Marcelo Bielsa at Marseille in the past few months, is currently enduring a tough spell with the Castilla side, who have lost four games in a row.

Guardiola's Bayern are currently 10 points clear at the top of the Bundesliga and will take on Porto in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

Zidane, along with Willy Sagnol, Claude Makelele, Guy Lacombe, Franck Thivillier, Claude Le Roy and Bernard Diomede, are currently busy obtaining their UEFA Pro Level Three Licences, while coaching their respective teams.

The seven coaches observed Pep Guardiola's training sessions on Tuesday and Wednesday, which was at the Bavarians training ground, and even had time to catch up with some of the players.

Many of you guys literally are not following football at all.
Hahaha hahaha greatest midfielder. The same you who refused to admit that Zidane was greater than De Bruyne when I mentioned the fact that Zidane had won world cup, Euro and World best twice. Now you are citing the lone assessment of a sports writer to cry up the greatness of De Bruyne.

This puts you in a position of not having the right to argue. You are arguing what you don't know. Stick to watching old football tapes.
I am certain that as a football fan your knowledge of football and footballers is not limited to only the games and the players you watched.

Where did you see if and buts? Stop drinking too much garri you no go hear! Please name your 2/3 countries with better squad than us? Player quality is the number one most important factor then a little luck (bad officiating, and injuries/red cards).
chrisooblog:
I also think we have the personnel to win it however the 'if' and 'buts' are too much.

Our success at the AFCON is dependent too much on the technical crew getting the right balance and implementing the ideal formation/tactics.

Man for man based on player quality I think there are only 2 max 3 countries slightly better than us but winning the AFCON is not only about player quality.

That is what most are saying on this platform. Our midfielders are still relatively young. Eletu and Akin should keep pushing their time will come. Just like Orban, Onyedika and Boni!
charlesemeka85:
Eletu and Akinsanmiro are for the future

No one is tipping them to come in and dislodge the midfielders we hv at the moment

Guy chillax you're not the only one on this thread that wants the SE to win the upcoming AFCON. I'm just saying we should be realistic and temper our expectations.

Never said discipleship. I said came to learn from Guardiola. It came after a four game losing streak. Zidane needed to make adjustment to his playing pattern and went to learn from Guardiola.

Guardiola “inspired” them, Zidane said on Tuesday. “I was able to go and learn from him. He was very honest with us. He told me lots of things, gave me advice, we talked a lot, although we all do things differently.”

It's not all about your squad depth.

Super Eagles are a very easy team to beat, clip their wings and they're clueless on what to do.

We're never creative down the middle.

In the next 3 years we will start using midfielders. Our coaches stubbornly refuse to build our midfield but time and experience will teach them a lesson.
By the time we perform poorly in the next 2 nations cup and dont qualify for the next world cup we will start shouting and asking what the problem is.
By 2026 we will be forced to build our midfield. The universe is strict it is either innovate or die. We will learn the hardway. It is a matter of time.
I suspdct when we perform poorly in the next nations cup our coaches will change their mind. By February pesiro may be sacked if he continues this way and does not build our midfield. Doing something that results in failure is not tenable on the long run. We simply have to change

My brother, na cement and block Jpes go take build our midfield? Abeg all this negativity is not warranted. There was a time we could not boast of a decent striker; now we are embarrassed with riches. We will be fine in the midfield department.. it’s a process.
