A few months ago this was the experimental squad I proposed to execute the dead rubber game against Sao Tome.

GK - Victor Sochima (Rivers utd) / Amas Obasogie (Bendel insurance); one half each

RB - Festy Ebosele (Udinese)
CB - Jordan Torunarigha (KAA Gent)
CB - Caleb Okoli (Atalanta)
LB - Bruno Onyeamechi (Boavista)

CM - Daniel Daga - (Dakkada FC) Yusuf Alhassan (Royal Antwerp); one half each
CM - Tochukwu Nnadi (Botev Plovdiv)
CAM - Devine Nwachukwu (Bendel Insurance)
DM - Raphael Onyedika (Club Brugge)

ST - Gift Orban (KAA Gent)
ST - Victor Boniface (Union St. Gilloise)

The idea behind this was to assess most of these guys and if they 'pass' deepen our pool of semi-tested options particularly in midfield and in goal.

Also to encourage the younger ones that did well in the U-20 WC and showing them a route to the senior team does exist.

Today the younger guys are probably getting disillusioned.

We don't have a single reliable goalkeeper.

Midfield options are extremely limited and alternatives are untested.

We continue to have an unbalanced team heavyweight in attack, paper thin in the middle of the park and in a state of emergency at the back.......AFCON is 3 months away.

This is the reality.

* I am aware we have lost Festy Ebosele to Ireland and Caleb Okoli is yet to commit to Nigeria. There are also concerns regarding Gift Orban and Togo now pursuing his allegiance.
this una daga all the time

Una no go allow the boy move to europe and start playing before the recommendation go start?

Daga is not even better than bonke let alone onyedika and ndidi or even alhassan who is yet to get a chance

If Nacho and Boniface will start alongside Iwobi, then Iwobi won't play 10. There would be no #10. Rather we would have advanced 8s. Iwobi will play deeper.

Think 3-4-2-1 formation. No wingers. The 2-1 is Boniface-Iheanacho playing in the half spaces close to Osimhen. The 4 is Ndidi-Iwobi flanked by the wingbacks of Osayi and Bruno. The back 3 will be Omeruo/Awaziem, Ajayi and Bassey.

That is one formation where they can all fit into.

Another I have been pondering is one with a 3 man midfield. A 4-3-1-2. The 1 is the man in the hole behind two strikers who can also work the channels. And that 1 must also be able to penetrate centrally with his BTL runs to finish or create dangerous angled chances Foe the 2 CFs.

But in a 433, it won't work unless the corresponding Fullback on the right takes up both offensive and defensive roles with the RCB & DM covering for the RFB's overlaps. Iheanacho shouldn't operate as a wide RW but as an 8 from the RHS.

I don't like this 442 especially because Peseiro doesn't know how to set it up to look like a 4-2-2-2. Our wingers should have one of them as an advanced 8 to support Iwobi's creative role.

spot on, I hv said it numerous times that jpes insisting on his outdated 442 formation will be his greatest undoing as super eagles coach heading to the afcon

I think his major problem is trying to appease the fans and his employers by playing an all attacking style of football.

Jpes is nothing but an old school coach who lacks the idea and tactical acumen to excel in modern football.

Like you said with regards to the quality of players we hv at the moment the 3-4-2-1 formation and the traditional 4-3-3 formation adopted by many coaches in this era are the best formation suited for this super eagles team

If jpes insist on his 442 formation in the next afcon I can bet my life that the team will at best get to the 2nd round or quarter finals which will only be possible depending on the strength of the team they will meet in that phase of the competition

Ivory Coast's Ousmane Diomande. Remember the name. A young CB with a high ceiling. I am jealous to be honest.

Ivory Coast vs Morocco friendly currently on.

That Ivorian midfield (Kessie, Fofana, Sangare) carries a lot of aggressive power. No Amrabat today for Morocco.

#MDAfcon23
who no knw Sporting Lisbon’s Diomande? Bobo is rated as one of the best young CBs in world football currently

Men morocco dont really do well in the afcon. They have reached rhe semi finals a few times (5 times or so).
They struggle against top african teams.
Our afco record is clearly better.
I will not be surprised if they don't win this one.
As for us our problem is BAD COACHING BAD COACHING BAD COACHING.
God give our coaches wisdom. I dont rate this oeseiro at all
even at that the current Ivorian team is blessed with talented young players doing well in top European leagues

Good examples are Monaco’s WB that joined them from Torino and Sporting’s Diomande

Uzoho has had good games for us too, for exa.ple he had an almost faultless WC and he was excellent in the friendly against Brazil before he got injured. Major thing is he needs to find a new club where he will playing and not be on the bench. Staying in Cyprus ad #2 doesn't speak well for him. E beta make he find any club that would of course feed him and at least give him the chance to play week in week out.
bros uzoho na shit, same with okoye. Currently we lack a decent goal keeper and it’s high time the nff/coaching crew scout for one from the local league since we don’t hv any in top flight european leagues

Uzoho and Okoye are below average goal keepers

don’t know anything about the 2 goalkeepers u recommended but if they re good they should be given a chance

With the current situation the nff/coaches should be desperate on getting any goalkeeper/goalkeepers better than uzoho and okoye even if they play in our 2nd tier league

nothing is wrong but he has to move to test himself against the best in europe before been recommended

We do not lack CDMs so there is no need rushing the young boy. He should be allowed to develop his game before such call

I just finished watching Nigeria vs Argentina highlights 2010 and 2014 WC…sir I no gree with u….na Messi scored Enyeama o no be poor Saudis wey Uzoho turned to free kicks specialist
You're focusing on one game.
Typical.
What about France in 2014, Korea in 2010 and Greece.
Especially against France and Korea where his mistakes were directly responsible to effectively knocking us out.
Enyeama was very poor at setpieces, no revisionism can change that...
Nigeria GKS are normally weak at setpieces, Uzoho is no different.
Infact African teams are generally not good at setpiece situations and have regularly been exposed at the WC

Yes Vincent made mistakes 2006 WC Qualifier against Angola in Kano comes to mind but the number of times he bailed Nigeria out makes a lot of people including me forgive him cos in the scheme of things he was more an asset than a liability.

Plus those errors came about after sustained pressure from the opposition so it's not unusual he cracked eventually unlike Uzoho or Maduka who would barely face one shot all game then when it matters most they will contrive to concede one cheap goal like that.

Cech, Neuer, Buffon to mention a few have all dropped howlers in the past but what stood/stands them out is they perform when it counts the most.

Sir is not about one game, have been watching eagles since 1980 and I want to say it is ridiculous trying to make Enyeama poor to back up your point on Uzoho.

Goalkeeping is not about only set pieces but what keeper offer all round and I want to say Uzoho damn too poor in eagles, imagine that Ghana goal.

I think it’s time we give players that can do it the chance irrespective where they are,Sunday Mba won Afcon for us….reason why we need to invite Ifeanyi Emmanuel and Kelechi Nwakili just like we are having Fisayo in camp, let’s solve things fast.

Am seeing us losing out just like last Afcon if things are not addressed….goalkeeping issue is there and midfield is thin cuz we can’t be having Ndidi and Iwobi alone starting,we need midfielder that can give us fluidity just like Mikel normally does it for us.

You can't be so sure, Ikeme would be 33/34 by now, he wouldn't be too old. He might still be playing. Remember he's a goalkeeper.

An average goalkeeper retires more later than outfield players.
