One problem with this team is that individually to a man, in the final third the decision making is almost always extremely poor. Sadly on the rare occasion where the decision making is right the execution of the final ball or shot is guaranteed to be atrocious.

Big name players who are all deep down chronically lacking in confidence once they put on the Nigeria shirt but obviously having to put up a brave face for the camera. The manager takes the full blame for this, as it's his shoddy selections, tactical preference and application that has so drained their confidence.

Alhassan was the best midfielder on the park and he wasn't even invited in the first place.

They know more than anyone else that they won't be doitagain if it means winning this cup. This is going be a long tournament for the fans albeit chronologically speaking a short one for the team.

I was shocked when the commentator said the biggest player on the Equatorial Guinea team plays for Las Palmas. The rest of them play in second and third division teams.

Their forward Nsue who terrorized our defence plays in the Spanish THIRD division as a RB.

My whole body just weak.

But Equatorial G. has had the same first XI for the same 3 years. Team chemistry will always trump having a spattering of “top names”.

At the end of the day, they are still professional players. The gap in pure ability from say Prem vs 2nd division in Spain isn’t as big as some people think.

I have been saying it, I have never been impressed with Osimhen's performances in the Super Eagles. A player of his Caliber shouldn't be caught offside that number of times and that clear chance, haba. What a miss. This was a game we could have easily won.
We go face CIV.
21 goals in 28 appearance

If he easy enter pitch go do am

Going forward, we need to adopt a new approach to team call-ups.

The coach must first determine how many players he needs in each department and then seek for players to fill up the slots.

Enough of these lopsided call-ups because we want to field our biggest European-based stars.

If we need seven midfielders, invite seven midfielders regardless of whether they play in the Mongolian ninth division.

Rashidi Yekini of blessed memory, is incomparable to anyone yet.
Just before our match today, I watched Yekini's goals at Afcon 94. He was exceptionally good. He missed many chances against CIV in the semi finals but damn he stamped himself on the tournament.

How can Osimhen miss that kind of chance? EG had only one chance and they made good of it. I'm tired of small teams pulling their weight against us. Haba na. Yes football has changed but it's still football

The players Jpes initially left out will all come good. That’s the result of hunger. Don’t let any player feel unchallenged.

Poor decisions in the final third ruined us. That Match was winnable by atleast 4goals to 1.

It’s the small teams (not São Tomé grade) that always trouble us under Jpes. And that does not guarantee we will do well against big teams..

But some people here will fight tooth and nail against the invitation of someone like Nwakali because he plays in the Spanish second division despite the fact that we are in desperate need of creative midfielders.

Until the tourney finish, I’ll save my assessment. Argentina still won the WC after losing their first match to KSA.

We just need to grow well in this tourney.

Overall wasn’t a bad performance. The transition from defence to attack has greatly improved. However our forwards need to be more assertive in the final third and be more clinical in front of goal. We would have won this match easily if not for wasted chances.
