Midfield iis beginning to look stronger and more fluid. I think if everybody is fit Onyedika, Onyeka and Iwobi should be midfield starters. Samuel did enough to start alongside Lookman in attack. Expect Boniface/Moffi to lead the line on Monday.

Whilst in our earlier meetings with them in the 1990's and 2000's we routinely achieved success against Bafana Bafana, in those games they certainly did the playing...... unfortunately for them we did the scoring.

We were able to do this because the individual quality we possessed was enough to force a result our way irrespective of our relatively chaotic approach. This is actually why their support base always wanted to face us again and again. They could understandably feel their revenge was just around the corner. They couldn't and didn't really accept we were better the better team.....we were 'just winning'.

Fast forward to the last 10 years and Bafana has recognised and doubled down on their comparative and competitive advantage i.e. the sourcing of their players makes it super easy to maintain a team of players who though are not world beaters in their individual capacity but decent enough to compete.

In summary the quality differential of the PLAYERS from supposedly superior teams has become more and more insufficient in compensating for the gap team chemistry.

Although simplistic, this is the crux of the matter with this particular fixture for us. The technical analysis of the actual game will follow.

They have only beaten us once in a competitive match.

I think finidi needs to experiment with iwobi, onyedika and ndidi/Onyeka in midfield

Onyedika should serve as the cdm, ndidi/onyeka b2b and iwobi AM

I will prefer playing Fisayo frm the flanks than lazy iheanacho

Iheanacho couldn’t complete a 1 dribble yesterday. All he did was to stand, get a pass and look for the nearest man to pass it to

You want NFF to provide VAR , should NFF also provide match balls and officials ?

And did I say it is NFF match?

we really clipped SA to rely on counter attack…our second half display brought back the memory of real pressing football….SA were now seating back and looking for counter….we really pressed them in the second half…but winning is all we need oo

Our second half display was reminded me of the super eagles I watched in 2000. My first AFCON. We were full attacking. It was beautiful to see Finidi play that in the second half. I hope we can build on that going forward.

Exactly! Fisayo will continue to deputize for Iwobi for now.

I just hope Chuks can rediscover his AFCON 2019 form....the attacking Trident should look more like.

Lookman......Osimhen/Boni/Awo....Chuks

Chuks showed "something" yesterday. Our play in the third phase needs to be less predictable for us to create more clear cut chances like his pass to Moffi did.

Lookman made some intelligent moves but didn't seem to be in sync with the other forwards like he was with Osimhen/Moses at AFCON.

The match against Benin Rep. is now everything. Anything outside a win ...

Aside from the Finidi starting Onuachu and delaying removing him till the 78'

I think his substitution was spot on yesterday

I expect him to start Maduka and Moffi and bring in Boniface second half on Monday Sha

I no wan see KC for starting lineup abeg

But what does Awaziem really does that we aren't aware that he keeps getting call ups

Finidi used osayi a rightback on the left and tanimu a center back on the right. What happened to the two home based fullbacks he invited to the national team
you don’t want to fill the team with too many debutants, you can’t do too many chop and change ahead of a crucial game

I have a feeling that Finidi might start Onuachu against Benin just to spite his critics, based on his post match rants

If we play Rwanda at home first I believe we'd nick a win. That their home turf is where we drew to Zim and RSA lost. Synthetic turf

😆 he won’t, there’s a World Cup ticket on the line, personally I’ll start Moffi at CF then bench Lookman for Boniface. Lookman played on Sunday, travelled on Tuesday and played 90min yesterday, he can come in later in the game.

Can't he just play both Lookman and Boni?

All of you shouting we will beat Benin are sounding buffoonish. Ordinary Lesotho at home, you cannot beat. Zimbabwe, you struggled to salvage a point and you want to beat benin. Wake up and smell the coffee. We are on the verge of not qualifying for the mundial for the second time in a row. Rubbish
My highly respected elder buffoon, Thank you for the compliment. I'll take it as a badge of honour from an expert in buffoonery like yourself.

Am I the only one who thinks Ndidi was subpar yesterday? I just feel the guy has no more gas in his tank and just scraping off on "experienced" player bias. I think Onyedika, Onyeka and Yusuf are the next generation along with Bashiru/Olawoyin.

Planning to get just a draw against SA sounds embarrassing. Failing to beat them has clearly been on our own part not that they're anyway special.

We haven't reduced to that level bros
