M7even: Education thrived everywhere in Nigeria for those that could afford it.. if you listen to Ahmadu Bello talk you'll know how educated he was in that era which means there were other northerners like him... is Dangote an un-educated from the early 1900s even before Nigeria's almagation of northern and southern Nigeria.. Nnamdi Azikwe's father was working for the Bri:tish as a secretary and hundreds if not thousands of other i:gbos were also working for the bri:tish all over Nigeria because the Bri:tish favored them not because other tribes were not qualified and un-educated until 1960 when the Bri:tish left.. their white collar employment had nothing to do with Ahmadu Bello and Balewa. since they already had those jobs before independence and continued on the jobs after independence so Ahmadu Bello, Akintola were working towards replacing i:gbos who had jobs ( which was what we now call federal jobs ) in the north and western Nigeria... you are i:gbo because it is mostly i:gbos that fail to acknowledge that other tribes are also qualified for high white collar office jobs.. which is what I was trying to explain to comodo who may also be i:gbo since he was complaining about quota-system forgetting that other tribes also have highly qualified people.. or is Finidi unqualified to coach S.E because he invited someone playing in Tanzania or was Stephen Keshi unqualified to coach the S.E because he invited an unknown Sunday Mba and still won the AFCON and qualified for Second Round of World Cup from the 1900s till 1960s i:gbos were not the only qualified people in Nigeria but the Bri:tish favored them because colonial:ists try to ensure one ethnic nation is dominant than others and has dominance over the others.. |

ChrisKels: i:gbo is i:gbo no matter where they are... even on Nairaland.... users say there is no rich Nigerian who made his/ her riches legally and that is a lie and a false accusation against wealthy Nigerians... Ojukwu, ironsi and their fellow coup plotters claimed they were fighting corruption and mis-management that's why they did the coup so why not fight corruption and mis-management in the Eastern Region? What concerns Ahmadu Bello, Balewa and Akintola with the Eastern Region and why kill them since they were not administrators or Premier in the Eastern region? Since they claim to be fighting corruption why not go after politicians and Premier of the Eastern Region and limit their fight against corruption to Eastern Nigeria? is Ahmadu Bello, Balewa and Akintola responsible for corruption in Eastern Nigeria? 1 Like |

lovewins:Yes homogeneity and heterogeneity can cut across culture and race. We are racially homogeneous yet see how we find difficult if not impossible to coalesce around socio-political issues. I feel if we were largely ethnically homogeneous perhaps this would not be the case. You can clearly see the incipient rumbling of ethnic politics in England. In a few years, it will become full blown. Immigration in small doses is fine but when it becomes a deluge of racially and culturally different immigrants, you know that's a recipe for disaster. These riots are an omen of things to come. |

codemaniacs: Amadu Bello spoke good English which automatically means he was educated and also gives the idea that his other northern mates/brothers were good too or equally educated, but thousands of Igbos got their jobs out of favouritism even though Azikiwe's father was a secretary to the British. So, Azikiwe's father being a secretary does not equally give the idea that his mates and brothers were also educated and merrited there jobs? Can you quote me on Twitter and write this particular thing you just wrote now with your full chest as a Yoruba man so that I can school you fully without derailing this thread? If Igbos had all the jobs as you said, so for what reason would the old Eastern region be envious of the western region as you also claimed? Also, in what way was the western region as progressive as the Eastern region to cause such jealousy? Besides cocoa which we matched and subdued with palm oil, what else were you bragging about, since we also have all the jobs, according to you? So, who should be envious of who? From your story, was it not already obvious that Akintola and the west were the ones filled with jealousy because the Igbos were occupying good positions which they of course got in merrit? Tell me what we were envious of. I want to know what the west was doing better than the East that made the east jealous. 3 Likes |

codemaniacs: Dude like someone rightly said, you don't know anything. Wetin concern Ojukwu with the coup? Was the coup due to the rot in the old Eastern region on the rot in Nigeria? The previous coups and even the subsequent ones, were they regionally as you would want Adewale and Ifeajuna's? You named coup plotters and left out Adewale Ademoyega, instead you put in Ojukwu's name? In which history class did they teach you that Ojukwu and Aguiyi Ironsi were part of the coup plotters? |

forgiveness:Allow him let him keep spouting bullshyte. When they cannot intelligently make a point, they resort to such lame generalizations. Enoch Powell and Oswald Mosley were accomplished English men. Powell was even a precocious child, he rose to become a brigadier and later a minister of health. He warned his people in the 60s about the effects of uncontrolled mass migration. Thousands like him exist. I sincerely find it outrageous that when a people stand to protect their land, their culture, their heritage, their history, wimps will label them as backward, racist, xenophobic. All indigenous people - from Africa to Europe, Asia and the far reaches of the antipodes - have a right to protect their land, history and culture. Backwards? Yes I am. Uneducated? Yes I am. |
