TheGoodJoe: Same thing i said earlier. Ighalo gave Zambia defence freedom to build attack from defence. Not even one misplaced pass from the Goalkeeper n defenders. There were just too comfortable. 1 Like |

adegwurulez: He did run but just too slow. His earlier position was good for a cutback which was not feasible. Just imagine if he made that run 2 seconds earlier. That was just what a normal striker wud do, even a sodiq umar |

Afobear:Hahahaha hahahaha @great Islamic law scholar (I don forget much on Islamic law oo, that was then). My issue is be positive about the team. Even if we going to face Brazil, should we just resign ourselves and conclude that we'd be beaten? No! What if Zambia had concluded ooo they have stars, ohhh Mikel, ohh Moses, would they have put up such a gallant, vigorous show? You see how though we beat them we are all giving them their due for being worthy opponents That's just it. You gotta fight, push, give it your best. Your views make it impossible to do so. Now on the tears thing - you win some, you lose some. Brazil, Spain, France, Italy, Germany can tell you that. 7 Likes |

Icon4s:It seems we are blowing d issue of this striker out of proportion. I remember it was on this thread despite Nacho goal ratio, a lot said he was not a typical top 9 referring to Algeria match and later South Africa match. Later d castigated Ighalo which i personally don't even rate was recalled back and had a great outing against Cameroon in both legs, though against Zambia he should have done better. Now u said 1 goal in 3 matches is not ideal for a good striker, this is debatable coz we need to put a lot of things into consideration, what was his total contribution in those matches apart from goal scoring. I can tell u his performance against Cameroon in both legs was spectacular, his first goal against Cameroon gave us a breakthrough and his dummy gave us 2nd goal scored by Mikel. In Yaounde i can tell u Ighalo powerful play gave us d needed goal against Cameroon, pls go and watch Simeon Moses goal and u appreciate his contribution. Pls we u drop Ighalo Odion for any striker against Zambia?also w Nacho perform better than Ighalo in that match?I have said i rate Nacho highly but for Rohr to drop Nacho to d bench he must have his reason. Did u know it reached a stage Rohr doesn't reckon with Ighalo and Ideye again, against Algeria he prefer Nacho as top 9 than natural Ighalo and Ideye who had a good outing in Lusaka. The same Rohr again now preferred Ighalo over Nacho due to South Africa match when Nacho had below per performance and i w not deceive u Rohr w be happy he made that decision coz he was able to get Nigeria a WC slot. I w not deceive u i keep on wondering which striker w come in and upstaged Ighalo and Iheanacho, people talk about Nwakaeme and i keep on laughing, am not saying he is not good but does he better than Ighalo and Iheanacho Boss u have been in football biz for so long, pls how many goals do we want from our striker in d WC?In most WC highest scorer sometimes scores 7 goals, 6 or 5 goals,so what do we expect from our striker even mighty Yekini had a goal in two world cup appearances. Honestly what i expect from Rohr is simple,u have a striker in Nacho who has a very good goal ratio for Eagles, why not have a good formation that w suit him, may be play him behind your top 9 or play him as twin striker. I don't see any reason for panicking our stats shows that we are not lacking in goals,11 goals in 5 matches with different scorers like Moses V,Iheanacho, Iwobi, Simeon,Ighalo, and a odd player when it comes to goal scoring Mikel meaning we are very potent. I don't see any reason why we always castigate our strikers or do we want to go back to Yekini era when we always put our hope on him. We should not repeat what happened in US 94 when Yekini went goal dry, thanks to Daniel Amokachie,Emma Amuneke,Finidi George,Samson Siasia that rose to d occasion. A lot were saying Tammy, truly d guy is good but i cannot say is better than Nacho or Ighalo. We should take thing easy regards players invitations,i laugh when some people were saying Nwakaeme w be d answer, are we now saying Nwakaeme is better than Nacho or Ighalo. It reach a point Aron Samuel was being considered, this is a guy that was not even making his club squad but find his way to national team at d expense of players like Oyekwuru and Kayode. Hope u heard what Peter Crounch said recently, he said d era of traditional top 9 has gone, what we have now is modern day striker who read d game very well and move to spaces and even create chances for others to score. 10 Likes |

forgiveness:If Tammy is that good why is he not banging in goals? We have many good upcoming strikers who need this chance than Tammy. The best for him at the moment is England U21 team, A choice he has made which should command our respect. It is not as if taking Tammy to Russia 2018 will guarantee a Quarter Final Stage for us. We need go with those whose hearts are 100% with us. Besides, I rate Dressers, Osimhen, Kayode and co highly. If you don't give them the chance, you won't know how prolific they are. I am so sure that before the World Cup begins, a good number of our forwards would have done a lot for us to forget about Tammy. 6 Likes |

Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Icon4s(m): 8:24am On Oct 10, 2017 |
Mujtahida: Firstly I did not say Tammy is in blistering form. I meant we need a striker that will be in blistering form going into the World cup. Now comparing goals ratio of 3 in 9 and 1 and 3, mathematically they are the same. But football is no mathematics. You know how difficult the EPL is and worst still playing for a lowly club like Swansea who typically against top oppositions play to avoid defeat rather than winning and hence not creating much scoring chances. In the last 3 WC qualifiers we played 3 games: 2 home and 1 away. Scoring 6 goals. Yekini that I knew would have scored 3-4 of those goals. The Yakubu that I knew would have scored 2-3. Look at those silly misses Ighalo had against Zambia. Nigeria has a rich history of producing top strikers, Ighalo is far short of the standards we have always had . Put Ighalo into this pool and be the judge: Yekini, Martins, Yakubu, Osaze, Utaka, Ike Uche. Ighalo seems to have resumed on his goals drought. I hope he proves me wrong. cc: Kog45 2 Likes |

Over 3 games Ighalo have performed really well. 1 goal and an assist is pretty decent. He could have had a couple more assists, showing he worked hard for the team all round. At a point, I remember seeing him in defense. Could he have scored more? Yes! But I can only fault him on one occasion for not anticipating Simon's cross in that direction and reacting quickly. But he barely missed it. Let's not also forget that the goal he scored he almost singlehandedly made it happen. Can't take anything from him. However, he needs a formidable competition. Competition is healthy in every position in SE. 2 Likes |

Kog45: Agu's criticism came from the first half. Agu was no just poor. He was atrocious, awful and terrible in that first half. That first half was during the match. However, he played better in the second half and covered the defenders well. So I wonder where you got me calling Rohr a liar from. |

Joebie: Ighalo's had other flaws apart from anticipating a cross. He missed chances too. I repeat, if Iheanacho had that exact performance, he would have been crucified here. |

Tammy's career is on the rise. He looks very promising. The sooner we get him into the mix the better. I don't too easily recommend young players but I do so when I see one that is very promising. 1 Like |

Joebie:Ighalo's performance was fair. Perhaps like you said he needs a psychologist. The thing is there inside him. On competition yes it's very good to push every body to the limits of their capabilities. Someone(Colin Udoh or so, I can't recall, check goal.com ) wrote that Echiejile performed well perhaps due to the presence of Aina. All of them need competitors even Balogun, Ekong, Mikel, Moses, Onazi and Ndidi. Not just backups but good competitors. Go read what Shehu said on how he retained the right back role and won MOTM - said he wanted to give his all. 1 Like |

Exactly.. We have already made a move for Tammy.. If he continue with the switch process and FIFA approves it, he is free to come and fight for a shirt, if/when Rohr invites him. He needs to show he is as good, or better than either Ighalo or Iheanacho regardless. Else, he should forget Russia. Kog45: |
