Highly-Rated Liverpool Winger Considering Playing For Nigeria Liverpool winger Bobby Adekanye is still mulling over whether or not he will commit his international future to the country of his birth, Nigeria. Born in Ibadan to Nigerian parents, the former Barcelona teenage sensation qualifies to play for the Netherlands and has caps for their youth teams, but has not added to his international appearances since 2015. ''No, I have not made a choice yet. I'm not busy with that either. That will happen in the future,'' Adekanye told voetbalzone.nl. Three years ago, coach Emmanuel Amuneke challenged the youngster to come to the Golden Eaglets camp to prove his mettle, without formally inviting him to the screening exercise held in Abuja. Adekanye made his first appearance for Netherlands U16s in their goalless draw with Spain at the UEFA Development Tournament in February 2015. Eight months later, he played competitively for the U17s during the European Under-17 Championship qualifiers. The 18-year-old scored twice and created two assists in Liverpool's 4-1 win at Maribor in the UEFA Youth League on Tuesday afternoon. Ifeanyi Emmanuel

Amuneke Backs Teenage Deportivo Goalkeeper Uzoho For World Cup Spot By Johnny Edward: Former Super Eagles forward Emmanuel Amuneke believes Francis Uzoho has enough quality to compete for a place in the World Cup bound squad if given a chance, Completesportsnigeria.com reports. Teenage goalkeeper Uzoho made an impressive debut for Deportivo La Coruna, keeping a clean sheet in Sunday’s 0-0 draw at Eibar and Amuneke believes with a bit of consistency he could become a top goalkeeper for club and country. Amuneke who was part of the national U-17 technical crew that discovered Uzoho in 2012 stated that 18-year-old was unlucky not to be Golden Eaglets’ No.1 at the 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates. “He (Uzoho) was brilliant against Eibar and I think he will develop into a top player since he has gott his chance,” Amuneke told Completesportsnigeria.com. “Getting a chance with the Super Eagles will be good for him but he must be convincing in more games. “Credit must be given to Emeka Amadi for the steady rise of these goalkeepers coming up. Not many gave them a chance but he trained them and kept faith with them.” Uzoho was part of the victorious Nigeria squad at the 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates, without featuring in a single match at the tournament. “He was unlucky not to be No.1 then because Alampasu was consistent,” Amuneke, who led the Eaglets to retain the trophy in 2015, added. “Amadi groomed the likes of Dele Alampasu, Akpan Udoh and Uzoho. “Credit must also go to Gernot Rohr who has encouraged more young players in the senior national team so it will not be out of place if he is called up to compete.” Uzoho who is the youngest foreign goalkeeper to ever play in La Liga at 18 also took to Twitter to share his excitement at his debut. “A day that will never disappear from my memory – my debut – thanks all for the support,” he wrote on Twitter. ttps://www.completesportsnigeria.com/amuneke-backs-teenage-deportivo-goalkeeper-uzoho-world-cup-spot/ |

Well 3-5-2 then. Unless you are saying Agu played as a forward when they were attacking. Structurally the 5-3-2 is similar to a 3-5-2, for the same reason you noted. I will check Omeruo's average ratings.. 6.81 is not a big deal. I'd rather say Ekong performed poorly if we are to go by statistical ratings alone. Mickael2: |

Yea, I totally agree. And I don't think that Rohr would play an wholly experimental side against Algeria either. At most, you will see Awazien partner Balogun in CD along with players like Etebo, Ogu, Nacho, and Aina starting. And by the way, I can go on a limb here and predict that our CD partnership in Russia would be Balogun and Awazien, with Aina starting on the LB. Mark my words. O pari Icon4s: |

Icon79: Rohr has stated the Algeria game is a must win. Rohr needs to work on Ekong. Let him not turn out to be our weakest link in the WC. I don't completely rule out Awaziem displacing Ekong but it is not likely. 1 Like |

Icon79: Balogun and Awazeim? Barring any injury,I believe Rohr will stick with the Oyibo wall in Russia.. it's not just about their form...They have been partnered together many times and seem to have a good understanding of each other and that's very vital... 1 Like |

I remember that very well. You challenge a player to come for camping in the papers, you did not officially invite. Firstly Amuneke said, he didn't believe the hype around Adekanye.. And some of us support discrimination of foreign-bred players. smh Anyway, 2 goals and 2 assists -- very impressive. Humility017: |

mumemma:Yes it's expected coz we view football in different ways. Truly Ekong need to improve on his footwork but i still rate him than Awaziem, though Awaziem is doing well for his club but still yet to convince me in d national team. Hope he get his chance and show us he is a better CB than Ekong but i don't see rationale behind rating Awaziem ahead of Ekong when d former has not even justified his inclusion in d team. My man WC no be moimoi o,it require a lot and we need our best. The partnership of Balogun and Ekong is doing well for now, hope they raise their game. 1 Like |

Mujtahida: Problem number 1 solved! Problem 2 is how to get the team to work. To change the team philosophy from "find Vardy at all cost" to creative and attractive play full of attacking flair. There are underlying causes of stagnation in the present leicester team. They need a world class coach preferrably one they cant try "player power" nonsense with. One whomis able to pick out the lazy and the troublesome ones and set the right order. We are here to watch football, not rugby please! 6 Likes |
