I'm still trying to understand, did Rohr say he will be working with a pool of 35 players? |

Joebie:I think it has become traditional for 35 players to be called first and then culled down to 23. If I'm not mistaken its FIFA mandated. 2 Likes |

TheGoodJoe: Shehu is very very poor going forward IMO. I had this conversation with Mujtahida when I pointed out that he has only ONE succesful cross in 3games, that is totally abysmal from a fullback, Aina had barely 30mins and managed one succesful cross. Defensively he has not been tested either. In Africa most of our teams have poor fullbacks so he usually has the liberty of facing only the winger with the aid of Simon Moses, in fact in most cases Simon Moses tracks the winger while he mops up. When we face a good team with a good winger and a fullback, Simon Moses will have his hands full with the opposing fullbacks and we will then see what Shehu can truly offer defensively |

goldfish80:Well, your suggestions are well taken but I have an almost unsurmountable prejudice against home based players. It's too strong. It's been ingrained in me for so long. I didn't even watch the last WAFU games and I marvelled at the enthusiasm with which some of you followed our every game. Excuse my prejudice (though I doubt you will cos you are a strong advocate of the home front) Why do you think Bryan Idowu should replace Nura? |

Mickael2: Shehu is cautious and I like the way he plays in respect of leaving us under less pressure. He also does not make reckless crosses due to our cautious set-up too. I am okay with him and I see him dealing well with greater pressure due to his style. Another might come in and give more crosses but leave the defenders under more pressure. |

Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Mickael2(m): 2:40pm On Nov 04, 2017 |
TheGoodJoe: A fullback is supposed to be a passing outlet in defense and in attack. In every top team, bar the midfielders, the fullbacks have the next highest amount of touches and quite sadly Shehu doesn't always provide that. You are right, he applies caution but that used to work in 1990 not anymore, if you sit back too much it will invite pressure from the opposing winger, if you push up the winger will have to move backwards to cover you thus relieving even more pressure from the defense |

This Valencia team is 'astonishingly' good. It is heartbreaking when you recall that Iheanacho could have been a part of this Valencia team instead of sitting on the bench somewhere else |

There's no earthly reason why Kelechi Iheanacho should not be getting playing time on this mediocre Leicester team. I think he should seek a January transfer right away. Get out of the EPL pronto. Go show his skills in La Liga or Ligue 1 O pari |
