But this is not the kind of game you gamble with an inexperienced and a young player . These Algerians are coming for bloodbath and they will throw everything at us. I won't even consider Alampasu. Akpeyi is my first choice not because he is more talented than Ezenwa but for his experience and confidence.

Neither is it a game to gamble with a weaker keeper due to the keeper's experience. Best in training starts.

True talk my sister coz d guy is not ready for recall due to a reason best know to him.He did not step aside but retired,a very tough decision for him and it w be tough for him to come out of retirement.

No option for now than to Psyche d trio(Akpeyi,Ezenwa and Alampasu)up for d crucial match. There is nothing anybody can do about d goalkeeping area for now than to encourage d guys.

It w be better for Enyeama and country if he can come out of retirement, with him and Ikeme in camp then w are secured.

Did you just say "reason best known to him ? " Oga,you go jail ?

On a serious note, Do you really believe there are forces in NFF working against "people from a particular region ? "Do you really believe that crap?
Pls guys don't turn this section to tribalism.I don't care if all our players come from south east, they are d best, all w want is result

Oliseh has always been a hothead. People like that don't make good decision. He ruined everything and humiliated our hero before the public. Oliseh deserve a beat down by Nigerian youths.

Please, do not beat Oliseh. He is also a National hero who did a lot for the Super Eagles.

But there was never a time Aiyenugba was rated as a world class goalkeeper. I have always known him as a good penalty stopper, not such a great goalkeeper. He had his chances and fell short,he won't be the first,so let's try some other hands. Ultimately,I want you to erase Aiyenugba from your memory,he will not be called.
why would anyone want to call aiyenugba. That guy wasn't spectacular. I wondered what siasia was thinking when he placed him ahead of Ejide if he felt enyeama was indisciplined.

Yea national hero but messed Enyeama up but how i wish Enyeama handle it in a very mature way like Mikel did, anyhow Enyeama must come out of retirement coz Eagles belong to Nigeria not Olishe.

I don't buy that best in training starts,it smells of disaster. An inexperienced player can have a good day in training but that is not to say they will replicate such form in a real life situation. I will prefer Akpeyi to start because he is more experienced and has been in a similar situation, hence, experienced. You and I know that no way in the world would Alampasu start against Algeria. It's not even a smart thought.

Aiyenugba was a very good goalkeeper. He just had Enyeama and Ejide ahead of him but he was also quality.

He is better than Ezenwa and Akpeyi (at his prime), that's for sure.

Enyeama's case was far different from Mikel. He buried his mum, flew out of Nigeria to camp the next day and arrived on a Monday.

This was not a case of stripping off Enyeama's captain band but during his time of pain.

The pain, stress and hatred got to his head.

I agree with you. The goalkeeping role is too sensitive. Akpeyi looked nervous at the Olympics in an inconsequential match though.

My stance is clear. I believe the training ground is the best place to sort the team. Not history of games. If Alampasu does better in training than the other keepers, then the right thing to do is start him.
This game is too big for Alampasu. Alampasu is not exactly known for having nerves of steel.
At the U17 world cup, it took him 3 games to settle. Nerves got the best of him until the knockout stages when he settled in. Against Algeria, no matter how good he is in training, he will just be too nervous in the first 30mins atleast.
You don't want to imagine what could happen within those minutes. Akpeyi starting is unnegotiable

They were both at the Olympics. Akpeyi played one game and he was atrocious.. The 3rd group game after we qualified.

I buy it well. That is why you can see clubs play young keepers despite lack of experience. What is the use of all the experience if one teenager will Outshine an experienced player in training.

How experienced was Cassilas when he started keeping for Real Madrid?

If Alampasu outshines them in camp, play him.

Alampasu is no more U17. He is a regular goalkeeper for a European team. By the way, where was Akpeyi's nerves when Emmanuel Daniel displaced him?

I followed Aiyenugba when he was at his best,at Enyimba fc during their second time as Champions of Africa. Aiyenugba was average ,at best. Akpeyi is better but Ezenwa is brilliant

Do we have any spectacular goalkeepers except Enyeama and of recent Ikeme which i highly rated coz of his technicality, others are bunch of average.

On Ejide, honestly i don't want to say much on him coz he has everything to be a world class keeper but a total flop coz he lack composure which made Onigbinde to rate Enyeama ahead of him, though a first choice in Afcon 2008 ahead of Enyeama but it was apparent that Berti Vogts went for his physic

Also Siasia benched him for Aiyenugba coz he lack d heart of goalkeeper coz with his height and frame I don't even expecting Enyeama to be No 1 choice

So when will you now judge a goalkeeper's performance? I talk say pesin no fit catch shot wey soft you dey tell me babu sey no be him fault say na counter. No be only counter na front desk you for talk

forgiveness:

Dem don sign am? grin

Until den, I dey observe.

Aiyenugba did nothing wrong in that match because it was a counter and you don't expect him to turn to super man.

NFF was to be blamed for not doing there home work.

Akpeyi and Ezenwa are in no way better than Aiyenugba.

Did you watch Akpeyi at the Olympics? He was terrible in the only game he played.

Ezenwa is an error waiting to happen.. Watch the goals conceded by the NPFL all stars in spain, A good fraction came from a misjudged cross or Ezenwa getting beaten on his near post. Good reflexes, poor technique

Aiyenuba was not exceptional but he did things well.

It's not a chasm between 17 and 20.
He's playing for a second division side in Portugal. You hardly have 50 people watch such games live at the stadium let alone having it on live TV.
Totally different from the 60000+ swearing fans in Uyo. Its not even close.

Emma displaced Akpeyi from where?
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by tbaba1234: 6:33pm On Nov 03, 2016
In my football playing days, i was an Ezenwa... good reflexes but weak fundamental keeping technique. One minute, i could make a fantastic save, the other i misjudged an ordinary cross but i was not a professional.

You do not teach reflexes, you either have it or you don't. The other aspects of keeping have to be taught. Positioning, dealing with crosses etc

Who was our Olympics No. 1 goalie? Akpeyi should have been number one due to his experience.

If the 60,000+ shouting fans means better keeper, then Akpeyi should easily Outshine Alampasu. If not, what is the use of the experience, if not getting an unfair advantage over a better talent.

Alampasu's team actually plays in the 4th divison in the Portuguese football league.
You really canvassing for a keeper with a 4th divison team to start against Algeria? The biggest game for Nigeria this calendar year.

So Akpeyi who is a Champions League regular, (LOLS), should easily Outshine Alampasu in camp. If not, what is the need of the Champions League experience?

Truth be told, i think Alampasu is better than both Akpeyi and Ezenwa but the experience factor is against him. Akpeyi should start.
