your opinion is quite useless as well, my brother.

You having hope or not on Nacho's career is equally useless. The guy is good, your seal of approval is not needed, so, stop stinking up this thread with unnecessary pessimism
This is the comment that irked liedetector. Personally I cringed when I read it because prior to this liedetector and Drklever were engaging each other cordially.

I doubt that if safarigirl and liedetector were talking face to face she'd say these words to his face. And even if she does he might not be angry because face to face conversation carries more width than dry words(I know we've called our friends idiot, stupid, crazy, yeye in the course of discussion and they never got angry.) Just the tone of her voice, the look on her face, her hand gestures will give an entirely harmless cast to those words. But reading them naked like this one cannot help but feel insulted. And sure enough the guy felt insulted.

Oga Kog45, we have always cautioned peeps here on names calling and I am sure you know that.

We are all wired differently. There are some people that find it difficult to change some things about themselves.

We have always preached caution and some level of restrain when we engage in certain arguments and with that most of us that have adhered to this have not had our Fathers or mothers insulted.

There are certain things we cannot completely eradicate from a public forum like this. We can only minimise such. No system is perfect. We can only strive towards perfection.

And to every member of the house it is very important that we respect each other's views. There is always room for criticism but we must learn to do that with respect.

That's the word Sire. Respect. When we criticize the player, do it with respect, with understanding. When we criticize those who criticize our favourite players, let's also do it with respect.

It's becoming lame this crying hate, hate hate anytime we read some critical word here. Trust me some of the views of our renowned critics here riles and infuriates me especially Mickael2 and komekn but I think we should respect them nonetheless. The one you cannot bear, read and pass. Since we've been attacking komekn has he changed? No! He still remains his objective, verifiable, non prejudicial, substantiated self.

On the Jersey issue you and I as well as several people were at polar ends. Yet we tackled each other in fairness and with respect. Today we might be of opposite views, tomorrow we might be driving on the same road but at all times respect should not be lost between us cos if there's no respect then why engage with each other.

Ma'am, go through my post again.

Leicester's set-up was way different from what we know them with.

They filed out in a 3-5-2 formation with Vardy and Diabate(played behind) playing upfront. In another game Nacho will pair vardy. But this one, the strategy employed by the coach favoured Diabate.

Mahrez on the other has missed two of their last games prior to today's game and he only trained yesterday in almost 2weeks. So the reason he started off the bench is not far fetch.

I wonder why ❓

One reason blistering pace he is the only one that can match Vardy for pace and so the two complement each other.

Unfortunately that's one area KC can not compete with Diabate, the very reason he started.

Puel was back to his old self. Negative football. That was why he left out some of his creative force including Gray, Mahrez (although the City drama made the decision easy) and Iheanacho.

Diabate offers more defensively, that was why he was selected over Nacho. In a more offensive setup, Nacho would have been picked ahead of him.

The goal Leicester City scored in the first half was kind of a Greek gift because it prevented an early offensive change. We saw the introduction of Danny Simpson.

When Nacho came in, the harm was already done. Even teams like Barcelona with quality forwards have found it difficult touching the ball.

Finito.

I am suprised at your analysis.

The issue is Leicester will not out play city or out pass them. They need pace to break and pace to defend step in the new kid on the block. What does he have over KC one main ingredient BLISTERING PACE.

That's the end of the discussion, anything else is jara.

I think you are right. You cannot start a game except if you have 11 players.

I recall a friendly between Ghana and Zambia some time ago. Zambia had only 9 players. They had to search for Zambians anywhere in London. They were able to secure 3 Zambian students. 2 of them started the game while 1 was on the bench

Zambia lost that game 4:0.

So I think you must start the game with 11 players else its a walk-over.
At first I read the bolded as 'I' referring to you. I thought Haa when did Sir Icon4s become a Zambian. On second read reading I got the message.

Firstly, it's not about positional rigidity but adaptability and versatility.

I noticed his attributes immediately on his debut and you should know them with your experience. Then consider the team dynamics and structural strategy.

I realised immediately that he is not a straight replacement for Mahrez but as in the modern game particularly with variations of the 4:3:3 the three forward players interchange and become strikers when suited or if opportunity arises.

You have seen Diabate he has come from French league two. And he is tearing it up in the EPL for them.

Last week the TV pundits dedicated a whole five minutes to eulogize about him.
you see what a French league 2 player is doing in the EPL, and you want us to believe the championship is better than the teams in ligue one

Actually he is not.

In reality you are because you do not look at the team dynamics and converge that to the team strategy and the managers approach.

But being an emotive fan, you cry Wolf.

I made this observation as soon as Diabate arrived and made it clear that KC direct competition was not Vardy or Okazaki but the Diabate. I was labelled a hater bad belle and unpatriotic.
Well, that's your opinion.. watch how KC would stroll back into the starting 11 in Okazaki's absence. It's obviously the formation that favoured Diabate, and not that he's better.. Passes, reading of the game, goal instict, and football intelligence KC beats him completely. They ain't even mates!

nobody is denying that. It was a horrible tackle no doubt but what I am saying here is that the ref not giving Matuidi a straight red isn't exactly a case of corruption as some are potraying it. TheGoodJoe's opinion here is that Matuidi had initially tried to injure Onazi, that is also my believe as a nigerian, but call out a french guy and he would tell you that there was no malice intended and he just wanted to win, doing his work as the destroyer in midfield and he could give reasons to back up his claim too. So you see that there are two sides to this same story, and whichever side the ref chooses in that particular point in time is not wrong, it was just the way the ref viewed it.

People seem to think that I am saying that the foul was fair or something, I would have sent him off if I am the ref no doubt, but the ref on the day had enough reasons not to send him off, thats the point

There is this implicit bias against African teams about our physicality, if it had been African team that made that tackle, the referee won't have hesitated to show a red card!!

Rmbr I called it implicit bias, its built in them, they themselves are not naturally self conscious of it, that's why I think the VAR system can add some fairness to the game..

Still on Wilfred Onyinye Ndidi.....

He made a game high Five tackles, executed two dribbles, committed five fouls (really disturbed Aguero on two occasions and also did one on De Bruyne), had a passing accuracy of 76% and made 25 passes amd made 48 touches with the ball.

He also won three solid aerial battles.... Ndidi was f**king busy yesterday and had more passes, and more touches with the ball than his other midfield mates (Silva and James). He made more tackles too... The highest in the game. His aerial wins too were the highest in the game.

Of course he still leads as EPL's top tackling machine. wink Up from 109 to 114....

Ndidi is key to our mission in Russia. That first game against Russia will be decided in the midfield for the most parts and we have a real battle on our hands with Modric, Rakitic and Kovacic as our midfield opponents in waiting.

Ndidi's boundless energy, growing passing range (who saw that fine pass he laid on for Vardy over the top in that first half which got cut out for Ederson who was intelligent enoughbto rush out early enough to prevent Vardy from lashing on? It was beautifull from Ndidi...), top tackling, interceptive and marking skills and all-round midfield impacts will be key to complementing the genius of Mikel Obi and the Zealousness of Onazi (or it could be Etebo or Ogu... Depends... But Onazi it is most likely).

He is among the key young players Nigeria will be banking on to deliver the goods and shock the world in Russia. Our prayer is that he suffers no major burn-out and also suffer no injuries... Keep soaring Ndidi the rock. They call him the Octopus too for the grounds he covers in games for Leicester and we see same for Nigeria's Super Eagles including his show against Argentina.

Who else caught a glimpse of his reaction after his battle for the ball led to him feeding Nacho who in turn found Iwobi for that equalising goal..... I recall Sir Tbaba1234 caught a glimpse of it coz he mentioned it. When I returned and read back on the thread I caught thst comment from Sir Tbaba... He caught glimpse of Ndidi's show of outrageous passion in the GWG.

Watch out for Ndidi people... This is not hypes... It is just what it is... A special player that I believe will bring many years of smiles to Nigerians in the GWG and beyond... Enjoy his continuous rise to the top....
Indeed Ndidi is key to our WC drive. And I hope our team is sensitive enough to factor in the possibility of Ndidi being taken out deliberately by our opponents just to cripple our game. Italy did it to us in 94, Italy did it again to France in 2006(yes Matarazzi's insult was a script played on Zidane whose temperamental nature was well known to the Italians cos Zidane played for Juve.)

But then in all the competitive matches Ndidi played for the SE I wasn't quite satisfied. However he shone like a thousand stars in the match against Argentina. And then I began to think what I'd thought before: there's something about pairing him with Onazi that limits and stifles his game. I do not think it's effective pairing both of them.

You need to break out of that box ooo.

Here's my prescription for you: praise all Nigerian players once in the morning, once in the afternoon, once in the evening. Take these dosage and you go dey alright.

Sir did you know Morocco have not won any major senior cup for past 40 years plus

Did you know the starting eleven of Morocco CHAN team were made up from 5 Raja and 4 Wydad players.

Did you know that the majority of starting eleven did not played against Sudan in their last match and gave them fresh legs in the qtr, semi and final match.

Did you know Morocco played all their six matches in the same stadium.

Did you know other teams need to travel by road to some stadia to honour their matches.

Did you know Morocco was a host and they had massive support knowingly they have not won any major cup at national team for so long.

I'm saying this to tell you it's not that easy though not an excuse for bad performance but mind you we played Morocco in the final.

Truly our team struggle to the final without clear performance but despite that they made it to the final, some would say Ezenwa and Ajiboye played a major role in our performance but they are part of the team.

I believe we can do better next time, losing 4 nil in the final not really good for any team but i remember Brazil losing 3 nil to host France during France 98 final, the same Brazil lost 7-1 to Germany at 2014 WC even as a host, heaven did not fall.I remember our present Super eagles lost 2- nil to South Africa at home,so nothing new about it.

Pls this is football and it happens sometimes and we just need to take it and move on and plan ahead for better performance

All this talk.... loooolll... then I suppose we should also allow Congo4ka and Pussypounder to keep on doing their stuffs without bothering them too... let them feel as free as the wind to dump their very sensual posts okay.... especially the funny Congo4ka aiit.

That is the freedom then. wink Lol...

And in all others... I know I am right in what I say. I have been here long enough to know each and everyone's stand when it comes to that young man called Nacho and by extension to include the Super Eagles. I know how the lines have been drawn for some so I am not wrong in saying that anyone who has a problem with Chief Icon4s' post definitely has a silent bias against Nacho. I am a master at reading between the lines and sensing the thoughts of people over a long period of time via their repeated comments and central ideas contained in those comments. So be rest assured that I know what I am talking about.

The truth is that talking and typing is not for everyone. If one cannot post something devoid of illogic and suspected bias with no backed up fact on sensitive issues such our Super Eagles players then that person should kindly take the route of silence. Not everyone can be in the arena of analysis. Not everyone can just talk because they feel they have a mouth or rather finger to post words or sentences.

One must first think of what he is about to post before he clicks the submit button.

Don't you see Egbon Forgiveness? He may castigate Nacho but he does it using facts and instances even if he focuses on a part of the whole picture.... so it is up to anyone arguing with him to bring that other part of the picture to light. And guess what, Nacho is not all Forgiveness talks about. He brings in other players for us to consider... I recall when he used to talk of Brian Idowu, Ola Aina, and Even Ebuehi (although I admit that I think Sir Tbaba1234 was the first to mention Ebuehi and a certain Ehizibue).

So you see... Forgiveness in his own way does want the progress of the team... and I see that he also acknowledges Nacho now when he does well even if he can castigate him again tomorrow. Forgiveness described Nacho's skills against Swansea as live and direct in response to another moniker. I took note and said nothing. Look, I take my time to go thru most posts... and I reference them at will because it is good to have a history of what someone stands for along various lines before you address him or her.

This is what informs how I approach everyone here... I know what each person stands for and what opinions each hold on certain matters already trashed here. So no one here can deceive me.

Sir Mujtahida... you just have to accept that in trying to accommodate everyone, you actually cannot accommodate everyone... because there will be the few that will keep pushing to fly the flags of pessimism and negative nonsense here high.
That is part of why I am here... to counter it and keep the equation balanced.

I know what you are trying to do but this is the human world... so it won't work. We should just learn to navigate thru it. We all cannot be positive... we all cannot be sane... we all cannot believe in this team. We all cannot truly want to see this Nigerian team succeed in Russia. We all cannot be happy when Nacho does score in Russia to give us the win against an opponent...

I can boldly tell you that there are folks here who will rather pluck their eyes out than see Nacho score tons in Russia. They don't wish it. There are even those here who cannot wait to see Onazi taken out again by another Matuidi and will call it fair... so many instances. But I will stop here.

Nacho is no god. Who says he is? This is yet another funny statement to make especially coming from you Mujtahida. Who calls Nacho a god? Why are you guys doing this? Always bringing up different titles and adulations that no one has dared termed Nacho with. Why should the sentence , "Nacho is no god" even be brought into the picture as if he has worshippers here to grovel at his feet.... loooollll... choice of words... sometimes I wonder.

Nacho is no god but he is a special player for Nigeria and Nigeria's highest goal scorer and most lethal in the GWG for the past 2 calendar years. His Super Eagles scoring ratio right now is the best or one of the best for any GWG striker in our history but it is still early days because he has played less than 20 matches... The lad has shown himself to be a multiple attacking weapon for us from set pieces, from outside the box, from inside the box and more... he is special... Rohr knows this. Colin udoh knows this... Pinnick knows this. So many major stakeholders in our football know this so why is it only on this thread that we see a bunch of "God knows who" who take it upon themselves to try rubbish the boy's obvious super talents. Say it as it is... Like Ndidi, Like Iheanacho... I will not hold back the truth of how special our players are....

It cannot happen as long as thesupernerd moniker is present. smiley

So let us pick someone else to talk about if indeed this Super Eagles team is not just about Nacho.... can the critics plsss take the lead coz I have already done my bits on Ndidi.... wink

Yep... so that is it. No more talk on this.

Mujtahida:

Nobody knows it all. Freedom must be given to all to state even nonsensical ideas. Yes! That's their privilege as human beings and no one has the right to stamp on their persons in the name of 'we must only make sensible statements backed with facts and figures(yes because there's a way a man's opinion or viewpoint is attacked and he feels it is himself that is being attacked). You are a science oriented guy. Isn't hypothesis an opinion? Some hypothesis are right, some are wrong. In the face of wrong opinions correction is what is needed. But to say that only correct

Are we going to have only white here and no black? Even a regime of sensible ideas backed with facts and figures is abhorrent to my soul.

Even if one cannot stomach 'nonsensical' opinions (mind you what is nonsensical to you might be sensible to another person just as it is often said that one man's rebel is another man's freedom fighter) then one can as well challenge it but how we challenge bollocks matters. It is not until a man is told 'wakaa' that he'd feel insulted

Iheanacho is not a god. I heartily support him. In fact I get pricked when he's criticised but I do not subscribe to our creating a gang mentality where everybody must have the same opinion. That is fundamentalism, that is totalitarianism, that is how terrorism begins. Even in the face of facts people are entitled to their opinions because interpretation of facts differ from person to person. Our fingerprints differ, our brain patterns differ, our voices differ. So also our views and opinions. Let's loosen our grip on the need to be right and be seen as right to the extent that we cannot tolerate other people's opinions.

And its not correct to say that those who queried Sir Icon4s' intervention are people who hate Nacho. I understand what Icon4s said but at the same time the undercurrent sounded like he was giving approval to the way liedetector was hounded.

We should not say welcome to people when we cannot welcome them in totality particularly since this is a faceless impersonal online forum. What sort of welcome is this: I welcome you but I do not welcome your absurd opinions. If there's no liberty for them to state their opinions whether backed by facts and figures how can we discuss, how can those with wrong ideas be corrected? Congo4ka is one weird guy but I like the way he was corrected yesterday. But you will note that others still said they liked him. That's how life is.

We've all been guilty of attacking each other here but I have soft spot for newcomers. They should be handled with more sensitivity. Only God knows the many number of persons who can richly contribute to this thread that we have chased away. Would it not be better if sometimes we ask people the reason for their 'absurd' opinions and try and engage them?

And even if an opinion is wrong it won't hurt if we endeavour to correct it with the patience and the wisdom of those 'who know'. Elyte89 reaction is typical. He doesn't hate Nacho. He hates the sacred opinions, viewpoints and facts surrounding Nacho and he's decided to desacralize those ideas and facts just to infuriate those who are intolerably Pro Nacho. In a sense elyte89 wants to save Nacho and free him from the consequences of dangerous love.

I should not be misinterpreted as saying that I approve absurd ideas. What I am saying is that we cannot dictate to people the ideas and opinions they should state. I state my own. That's my freedom. You are permitted to disagree, you are permitted to interrogate my opinions, to challenge them. You are even permitted to state your own contrary views. That's your freedom. Igbos have a beautiful proverb which underlies their republican nature: let the Eagle perch, let the vulture (note that the vulture is a clumsy, gruffy, ugly, absurd looking bird) also perch. The one that says taaaa to the other, let his wings be broken.

I am pro Nacho but anti - siege mentality. I will end by giving this short anecdote which ends with one of my favourite quotes: Jean Jacques Rousseau was writing dangerous books, espousing ideas that threatened government, the social order and many cultural norms in 17 century France. He was wanted by the government. All over France he was a wanted man. He had no where to run to. Finally he decided to run to Voltaire. Upon knocking the door Voltaire welcomed him with the following words which have become immortal: I do not approve of the things you say but I will defend to my death your right to say it.

Cheers and love to you all.

Iheanacho remain the face of Nigeria football cos he is our homegrown talent just like Kanu of Japan 93 fame and Mikel of 2003,so expect a lot of discussion on him either positive or negative. One thing is clear nobody can take Iheanacho quality from him no matter the criticism.

Oh Kayode Olarewaju not good for WC when we are not playing Somalia, this your statement showed total disrespect to the player in question.

Pls let always gives respect to our players even if it's negative criticisms. They deserves it cos it's not easy.

I am suprised at your analysis.

The issue is Leicester will not out play city or out pass them. They need pace to break and pace to defend step in the new kid on the block. What does he have over KC one main ingredient BLISTERING PACE.

That's the end of the discussion, anything else is jara.

If Blistering pace is the key to success, Andros Townsend would have been the next Maradona.

Finito.

TheSuperNerd u don dey see now,if we dig out people's comments on CHAN team, nobody would blame Michael2 cos i just don't understand, this is the reason player like Vic Moses find it difficult to be nominated as one of the best three in Africa.
