NAIRALAND NIGERIAN FOOTBALL AWARDS!

A good and blessed Morning House.

We have all analyzed football here for a couple of years now. We have tasted the joys of victory and agonies of defeat from different competitions we have participated in. And each one we have come out better as we have always learnt one, two or more lessons.

Believe it or not we have here in the house some of the best followers and analysts of Nigerian football. Forget that we argue all the time, but these arguments generally have yielded fruits in certain areas and our national teams have gotten better for it.

DON'T WE THINK IT IS TIME WE STARTED ROLLING OUT AWARDS, IN VARIOUS CATEGORIES, TO WELL DESERVING NIGERIAN NATIONAL TEAM FOOTBALLERS?

Now this is just a suggestion.

If a larger part of the house agree, we go ahead and set up a players selection committee which will be saddled with the responsibly of:
1. Coming up with various award categories eg: Most improved player in 2018, best Nigerian goal in 2018, Most impressive new inclusion, Best young player (U20 and U17), Best SE Goal keeper 2018, Nigerian Player of the year, best Super Falcons player etc.
2. Nominating players for the various award categories selected above (Maximum of 3 for each category). Note that criteria for the selection of these players must be spelt out.
3. Collating and announcing of results after the votings.

How do we come up with who and who will make up the Players' Selection committee?
I would suggest a 3 Man (or woman smiley) Committee. The house will have to suggest monikers. Every member of this thread or even visitors would have to nominate one person he or she feels should be a member of this committee. Note that you cannot nominate your self and you cannot nominate more than 1 person. 3 monikers with the highest number of nominations will form the players selection committee.

If we agree, we can set 1 week period for which we can suggest names for the selection committee and the selection committee will have to start work immediately after the Nigeria vs Uganda friendly. So that the voting process will commence first week in December.

At the end of the exercise a thread will be created to publish the names of awardees and mods called upon to take to front page or we may even take it to the sports sections of major News Papers in Nigeria.

Note again that it is just a suggestion and open to more ideas and suggestions.

The simple thing to do for a start is if you agree you click "like" and if you do not agree you click ''share''.

Wow! Rohr must cap tie him immediately!. Do you think it's easy to be close to a debut for a team in England? In England!. In Almighty England!. He doesn't even need to make his debut before we call him, his English passport and British accent alone is enough proof that he is better than those bunch of local-bred carpenters in the SE.

Rohr must not let go of this great talent. Though I've never watched him, I know he is a great talent because......c'mon, HE'S BRITISH!. And we all know England only produces phenomenal players!. The SE needs him!. We can't afford to let another Foreign born player slip beyond our grasp!.

I repeat, call him now or.....

Young Nigerian striker Femi Seriki is inching closer to making his debut for EFL League Two club Bury.

The 2003-born player was named in The Shakers 18-man squad for their EFL Trophy clash against Mansfield Town but was not utilized off the bench.

Seriki was temporarily promoted to Bury's first team for the fixture at Field Mill after a string of fine displays for the U18 team, for whom he has scored five goals in eight appearances.

The 15-year-old is among Bury U18s top assists providers having teed up seven goals so far this season.

He would have worn the number 42 kit if he had featured as a substitute against Mansfield Town on December 4.

Nigerian defender Emeka Obi is the youngest player to debut for Bury in the EFL Trophy, against Morecambe aged 15 years and 86 days.

You are reporting a 15yr old making his debut for a league two club

Is it because he's British or what?

That's one of the thongs wrong with the black man... We see everything white as being better...Did you miss the part where I said we should only approach the ones we really need? Why waste time chasing foreign born players when we can spend more time and resources on grooming our own local players? People always complain about our league and youth team getting little financial assistance but they don't wonder if the money being spent to chase foreign born players could be channeled into helping the home grown players and the league? Look at the super eagles past and present, how many foreign born players have actually helped us achieve success on the continent and world level before ? Iheanacho, Ndidi,Musa,Success,Uzoho,Chukwueze, Osimhen... Those are products of our youth system and local league... Are they not good enough?
All the African countries that have been getting foreign born players to play for them what have they achieved with them? Morocco went to the world cup with a squad filled with foreign born players... why didn't they win it?

See ehn,I'm not in any way against the calling of foreign born players to the national team.. But let's call up only those we need... The ones that can actually improve the team....
if they aren't ready to play for us let's forget them and move on.. No be by force..

So far, iheanacho and success have no business in the SE.

Unless they miraculously up their game

That is always the problem here on this thread. You have not given them game time yet u have concluded they can replace him.

That aside, those 3 players cannot compete with Iheanacho because of the kind of roles Iheanacho plays for the SE: Lone striker, SS, and behind the striker. Osimhen and Odey can only play CF. Iheanacho kind of player will hardly be thrown out from the kind of SE team we have currently even though he starts more from the bench.

I think kelechi is poor mainly because he has never played with a true playmaker. If someone like Iwobi plays behind him,he might get those true passes he needed and it won't be a problem to finish off those chances since he is clinical.

The new coach would have been told that he is their prized possession. There is no way that that would happen to him. Villarreal are already trying to offer a new contract that will up his buyout clause from 30M

Boss,dt one no mean o,vicmo almost look indispensable during antonio conte era,Infact after hazard and kante,MOSES was next to be a sure starter in d line up

But when sarriball came in,what happened to Vicmo

D coach might decide to play another different pattern from what dey use to av,wc might make his usefulness little or of no need,. I believe its only two player we av presently irregardless of d formation u want to adapt even a 9-1-0 tactics (messi or cronaldo must play in ur team) .my opinion though. cool cool
