In fact ehn, no unnecessary noise for this thread. Nothing wey person no hear before the match. They made it seem like this guys would win champions league uncoached.

Lol

Guy to be very honest I didn't see anything like them hyping this guys before d match. all I saw was a group of enthusiastic fans who were happy with the huge pool of talent at our disposal. and even if u feel dey were hyped, I insist d problem is not with the players.

come to think of it d federation knew they were having a match in March dey waited until February b4 scouting for players to use. dey didn't organize friendly match neither did dey start camping Early enough. dey waited until January before they opened camp for d home based players b4 dey realized d issue of age. and then worse of u employ coaches who are pre occupied with other jobs, d assistant coach still coached in an NPFL match in d weekend which is about 3 days b4 d match. training was held just a day b4 d match. even if u invite CR7 or Messi under such poor administration no miracle will happen

i think zaha can be world class. right club plus focus on his end. if he continues on this trajectory it's only a matter of time before a top club re-signs him

He is the highest paid player in Crystal Palace.

Add to that he is very happy and content after the nightmare he experienced at Manchester United he may not be too kern to move.

So, the story gets told about how one of our best assemblage of talented footballers in recent times fail to qualify for the U23 nations Cup.

This is football and shit happens.

The talent is not evenly distributed across all departments, midfield and defense especially. Meanwhile I remember the team of 96. In one of the qualifiers against Kenya in the first leg in Lagos, we labored to a 0-0 draw. In came Okocha, Kanu, Oliseh, etc the Kenyans didn't know what hit them in Mombasa, 3-0 hammering. Hoping we can convincingly win the 2nd leg and qualify, at least it's better to hope than give up hope. And if we lose out, it's not the end of the world.

Disappointed with the U23 result. I wonder why Imama didn't park the bus after going a man down. A one goal deficit would've been easier to overturn.
I agree with the idea of sending the likes Utin, Awaziem, Onyekuru, etc to help out.

A team like Bayern won't have patience for Onyekuru to adapt to the German league

Thank you very much. The same thing was on my mind this morning and brought me online.

The preparation for this qualifiers shows the height of unseriousness in the NFF and Sports ministry. A game of this magnitude and they wait until the last minute to kick off preparations.

Baffling.

Football is not a game of chance. It takes time and preparation to get it right. You can not expect the players to know themselves and assimilate the coach's philosophy with few training sessions. That is ridiculous.

We had lots of international windows to organise regular friendly games and camping sessions for Imama and his crew to know his squad. This should stop. The NFF and Sports ministry need to start having a long term plan to success. Enough of the cutting corners to achieve short term gains.

I watched the game yesterday and we dint play that bad, our keeper also made a mistake but the libyans only had two shot on goal even after we went 1 man down... We can win the return leg definitely its just the margin that would be a big issue.. Remember this is the first time the team played together its was obviously going to be difficult.. I see people saying we played badly far from that we had more possesion we dominated the midfield we were not able to break their defence line because the defended deep... But at home am certain that we could whoop their asses by 4 four goals or more...

Good morning gentle women and gentle men grin my joy is that these players are not going back to Europe...they will be together for four good days...they will train morning and evening...though not enough but something good will come out of it.....2-0 well not a mountain to climb...but if we had scored one goal like Senegal did in Guinea..though they lost....it would have been better....

I still insist the u23 is not for amateurs in Europe....it is for those who are u23 EVEN IF THEY HAVE PLAYED IN THE WORLD CUP BUT STILL U23...COME ON JOIN THE PARTY....it is not only for young foreign based....so let us unearth our best in u23 to power past Libya...yes we can

To be sincere Libya played a more organised football..

PS: We need more realists on this thread. The unnecessary hype is becoming sickening

This is why people like me are needed.

People that will criticize floppy players no matter the barrage from their blind fans. When I talked about Iheanacho I was almost stoned to death on this thread.

I'm happy our eyes our clearing gradually.

To be sincere Libya played a more organised football..

The thing is we often have short memories. We are always so quick to forget the level of competitiveness of the game both at the U20 & U23 levels. Your U23 team should be close in strength to ur Senior national team.

Some peeps here were referring to the U23 as cadet Football. Haha. Well at least yesterday's result would have changed their orientation.

Zambia were the only team to win away yesterday against Malawi. They will be missing out on the AFCON and so they have vowed to stage a comeback to world Football and build a future Chipoloplo team with their U23 team and so all Zambian players in their senior team, within the U23 age bracket, have been drafted to their Olympics qualfiers. And I can tell you they are on the right track.

2:0 as you rightly said is not too high a mountain to climb. With the right selections, tactics and mindset we can cancel that deficit within the first 45mins.
