Will we ever use the Abuja stadium again? |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Nobody: 6:23pm On Mar 22, 2019 |
oloriooko: That field was tiny. Which was probably one of the main reasons Seychelles parked the bus so well and it was so hard to penetrate their defense. I'm pretty sure if we atleast played on a whot card we would have scored more that 4 goals. The Super Eagles still need to vastly improve before the Afcon though. 4 Likes 1 Share |

So these ones were not able to score at least 7 goals..even clean sheet seems impossible how then will they be able to win the AFCON?.. Just de eye this Rohr, already failed in the world cup..just make mistake and not win this AFCON then na shoot on sight if seen anywhere in the terrain of Africa, talk more of Nigeria... 1 Like 1 Share |

Iwobi poor, could not get his passes through Ighalo, not good either, falling down all over the place. One good turn. Etebo, what exactly does he offer? Uzoho, seriously, what was that? Shehu, what was he playing? Ndidi and Collins best on the pitch. Borefest!! 12 Likes 2 Shares |

It's not the pitch. Its the way we played. No creativity in the middle. Our passes are predictable- defence to wingers. Ighalo has no business on the pitch till he got injured. He was just a short one. The coach is just a wise old man. Playing very safe and managing the ego of his players. The Egypt game will open up lot of shortcomings in his tactics. 8 Likes 3 Shares |

Bolowolowo: That Abuja stadium(and Lagos's) is a classical example of how wasteful and vision less our government are .. After the super eagles stopped playing there, they abandoned it... no professional football team uses it..its only for concerts and some sport events...And to worsen it,they have refused to privatize them.. I read somewhere late last year that Julius Berger were asking for 2bn(can't remember d exact figure) to renovate the stadium but the ministry of sport said the amount was too much... 3 Likes 1 Share |

Very poor pitch. I'm trying to phantom why Amaju Pinnick took d super eagles game to dis cattle ranch. And to be honest super eagles were very disappointing. In the first half dey were trying long balls even wen it was so obvious d Seychelles players were taller den in d second half wen onuachu came in which was supposed to be a perfect time for trying long balls dey decided to try going to d middle which is quite surprising. and as for uzoho don't let me just start abeg 4 Likes 2 Shares |

People are trying to make excuses unnecessarily with the size of the pitch and aesthetics of the stadium. The fact is that the pitch was not responsible for the lack of urgency and creativity on display today. Bournemouth and Watford in the Epl play in a smaller pitch than the Asaba ground yet they manage to play good football on it. Genort Rohr must try and fix the lack of creativity in this team. He hasn't managed to achieve this starting from the pre world cup friendlies where they played in fantastic stadias in Poland and Wembly. The team generally looks painfully slow in build up. #Barryseal 8 Likes 2 Shares |

Rockyrascal: The likes of Onyekuru and Iwobi should have been the creative hub of the team today. But Iwobi was totally off key while Onyekuru only had a decent 5mins spell after the moment he scored otherwise, he was painfully pedestrian. I feel Rohr got his tactics wrong. He just wasn't witty enough to concede abit of possession and territory to Seychelles so as to draw them out. Which inevitably would have had Seychelles leave gaps behind where our attacking players would have had joy running into those vacant spaces. Instead, Rohr made his team spend a lot of time tossing the ball around aimlessly in defence and midfield trying to open up their defence when they lacked the personnel to play that kind of football. The result is the fucck ups you saw an hour ago. #barryseal |

Can we return to Uyo? I watched an interview where the stadium pitch manager in Asaba was bragging about this stadium. He even compared it to the best european pitches. The under 23 have a crucial game, we can't afford to be complaining about pitch in that game. 1 Like |

I'm particularly angry about the issue of stadia in the country....it irks me always when we host matches on "cattle ranchs and call it stadium... Many countries in Africa have a few standard stadiums, big capacities etc we don't even have a 80 or 70 cap in the country, I think Abuja should be 60 or so while Lagos is about 45,uyo 30 I guess and others, way below. Can't say the same for southie or North Africa... I still ask when are we gonna host the nation's cup, funny how we have never bidded or be in reckoning as a potential Hosting countries of late, simple. We currently lack the infrastructure, which is quite shameful, our two biggest stadiums don't even work... Sometimes or many times self I just Tire for naija... Didn't watch the match, but everyone is complaining bout the pitch, some even questioning why a football match should be played there... A must win u23 match is also billed to be played on the farm... I hail us for this country..... A football mad nation without stadiums... |

Wow. You're definitely a generous grader. Your students must like you tremendously. Meanwhile, here's how I'd rate them: Uzoho- 3/10 - was rarely tested plus he committed an elementary error Shehu- 4.5/10 Ekong- 6.5/10 Omeruo- 6/10 Collins- 6/10 Ndidi-7/10 Etebo-5/10 Iwobi-4.5/10 Musa-5.5/10 Onyekuru-7.5/10 Ighalo-5/10 - this could've been 4 but he scored a good penalty Sub... Onauchu-4/10 Ajayi-4/10 Simon-5.5/10 - didn't last long enough to be rated, but I will rate him since he scored O pari Danielnino00: 1 Like 1 Share |
