I do not want Iheanacho in the AFCON squad because I am not a fan of Rohr’s system and I do not think Rohr has what it takes to keep on improving Nacho. Nacho is better off without the AFCON distraction focusing on improving his game and soaking information from Rodgers. Thus training in a more offensive system.
when did improving/developing a player becomes the job of a national team coach. The NT is not a grooming center. That's why I am not in support of Samu joining the team for AFCON when there are options of playing for the age grade teams(where grooming takes place).

Players are invited to the national team to replicate their club performances. It's either you deliver or you are out. These set of players are even lucky. Imagine If Obagoal, had received half of the repeated chances given to nacho and Ighalo to redeem themselves. I bet you he would have been our second all time goal scorer just behind Yeking. Nacho and Ighalo have enjoyed a very rare grace. Just think of it. They both went 1year as Eagle's striker without a goal. Yet they were always the first on the list.

How many days do the players spend with these coaches when on national assignments. So cut Rohr{though not fan of his) some slack.

If we are to go by your claim, it is better he stay out of the national team till the time Rohr sees out his contract.

“From what I’ve seen in training and when I’ve spoken to him, he has shown a wonderful appetite and enthusiasm to get better.

“We have a culture where we want to improve players and make them better and he’s responded very well to that.”... Brendan Rodgers.

Contrary to the lazy comments, Rodgers assessment shows Iheanacho is hungry to improve.

From personal first hand experience what coaches say in public and particularly to the press and what they say in restricted circles are many many miles apart.

It is a "FOOLS PARADISE" to take seriously what managers and coaches say in public about players and particularly players in thier own club.

“Oyibo Eaglet” – Nigeria U17 Include Two Players Born Abroad In Final Squad For U17 AFCON

For the first time in the history of Nigeria U17 teams two players born outside the shores of Nigeria have made the squad for the 2019 U17 Africa Cup of Nations ‎, which serves as qualifiers for the World Youth Championship.

Owngoalnigeria.com exclusively gathered that Chelsea teen forward Adrian Akande and young Bournemouth goalkeeper Joseph Oluwabusola made the final list of 23 players selected for the tournament by coach Manu Garba.

Oluwabusola is not new to the team as he was part of the team to the WAFU B U17 Championship which Nigeria won to seal progress to the Africa U17 Cup of Nations but he could easily have missed out on the list of players to the tournament if not for the fact that first choice goalkeeper John Amah failed the mandatory Magnetic Resonance Imaging test, which is usually done to curb the menace of age cheats.

Akande on his part impressed the handlers of the team after training with the team for one week in Abuja and the omission of some forward players who are regulars in the team ‎due to the MRI test helped his inclusion in the final squad for the tournament which will begin on the 14th of April in Tanzania.

Overall four players born outside the shores of Nigeria took part in the screening exercise in Abuja but the duo of former Barcelona Escola Kelechi Ebenezer Ibe-Torti and Go Ahead Eagles Lateef Omidiji Junior were not considered good enough for the Nigerian team.

Captain Of Nigeria U17 Samson Tijani Loses Out On Move To Club Brugge Due To Multiple Representatives

The much talked about transfer of Nigeria U17 captain Samson Tijani to Belgium side Club Brugge won’t be happening, Owngoalnigeria.com can exclusively reveal.

Tijani was billed to join the Belgium team after the U17 Africa Cup of Nations which is the qualifiers for the World Youth Championship but the move suffered a set back due to uncertainty over his true representative.

He impressed the scouts of Club Brugge during the WAFU B U17 Championship in Niger Republic and contacts was made with his local team in Nigeria, which further strengthened the chances of the deal happening.

However it was called off after it was discovered that the 16 year old signed representative contracts with two other agents outside the one who brought the Club Brugge deal according to a source who is in the know about the deal.

” The deal is off. Tijani and the guys who brought the Club Brugge deal are no longer working. They called off their relationship with him after discovering that he has signed representative contracts with two other agency. It’s sad but it’s the reality “, he told Owngoalnigeria.com.

This story is so annoying. The dad collected money from multiple agents and scuttled the deal. Similar thing happened with Iheanacho.

Based on your assessment, there is no need interviewing coaches about players. When Rohr said something negative about Iheanacho, a lot of you jumped on it like the sweetest Ice cream of all time, why did you not tag Rohr’s words on Iheanacho fool's paradise? Or Rohr was not talking about a player.

As I said before, Rodgers has nothing to gain to lie.

Did you see Suarez as explosive for Uruguay as he was for Rodgers and under Barcelona? By the way I have not studied the Uruguayan national team closely but I have studied Rohr in recent games and he is so Conservative. Hard to favor forwards that depend on offensive ball plays to shine.

For Lateef Omidiji I think his age and size could be a major factor. He is still very much a developing player. Still elligible for the next U17 and should give it another shot.

Kudos to Manu for not falling to the factor of "foreign born" to include him. If he is not good enough then he should be dropped.

Story.

Whether National team or club, players improvement is a priority of coaches. I can bet you if you ask players under Amunike at Tanzania, they will tell you they have learnt a lot under Amunike and improved.

I did not say he should stay out of the National team until Rohr sees out his contract but at this point in time, learning supercedes National team euphoria because the system does not favor him and he has a chance to benefit more from the tutelage of Rodgers. There is no need for the distractions, especially in such a dross system.

By the way, it is ironic if you believe our Super Eagles players of the past benefited from working with the likes of Westerhof and Bonfere and you feel the National team plays no role in development of players.

As long as the players are training under a high intensity system and improving their offensive IQ and stamina, they will keep improving. Something I don't see under Rohr’s current system.

Iheanacho should not dear move. Even if Rodgers brings in another striker he favours, Nacho should keep his head down and soak as more knowledge as he can.

At least he should spend a year with Rodgers. It is very hard for players to get this kind of opportunity.

When the chances comes for Nacho to play, he will be playing in an offensive system that suits and will bring out his quality.

How time flies!

Can't believe that the same set of people who stood vehemently against the idea of Nacho been dropped from the national team immediately after the world cup are now in support of the motion. I remember them calling us haters(still don't know who brought that word to this thread- one of the reasons I lost interest in commenting). But I believe that those who want him out them were his true supporters.

I wanted him out so he could buckle up in his club and earn his place in the national team before Afcon 19. Making it now looks like a mirage. I hope he discover his old self.

S. MOSES, CHUKWUEZE, HENRY, S. KALU
I'll pick Simon Moses ahead of Samu, Henry and S. Kalu.
I don't know how we forget things quickly. Is it not the same Simon that was instrumental to our World Cup Qualification? Oh. His pairing with V. Moses on the flanks was beauty to watch. It was painful seeing him missing out at the Mundial. His wealth of experience and understanding of African football will come to play at Afcon. So why drop him!

Of a truth, Samu has potential and that is it for now - POTENTIAL.
I'll rather have him drafted to the U-20 world cup. He can continue his development there. He needs it more than anyother things
Note: He hasn't even reach Nacho's first professional year Stat(14goals and 8 assist or so in lesser time) . Still waiting for end of season before I pass my judgement on the lad.

At the bolded na me bring am....... Present sir

We all know Samu is a good player

But according to this thread , once you play well against barca you should be starting for super eagles immediately.

What you are detailing there is Kramarić shining. This is what Nacho does not need now. What is most important is training everyday under a high intensity system. If Rodgers was not at Leicester City, I would have said leave but fortunately, he is with a genius tactician. The team is training hard and improving everyday. Nacho needs to be part of the process. After developing and improving to a higher grade, he can seek for a team with a very sound offensive system an, where he would be assured regular playing time and then shine.

After that other things will fall in place like the national team.

For now, he should keep learning.

The development and playing in an offensive system with high intensity will play a big part in Nacho doing tremendously well in the near future. Running to Shakespeare hindered his progress and repeating the same cycle will be catastrophic.

For now he is working with Rodgers and he should count himself lucky he is training daily in such a system. In a few months time, he will notice the massive improvement in his game.

“The boys have taken it on board and it is going to take time before we perfect it but sooner or later we will get it exactly how he wants it and I am sure we will be successful." Wes Morgan of Leicester City talking of the impact on Rodgers on the team so far.

You can see Wes Morgan talking about the team needs time to perfect on Rodgers philosophy. Perfecting on Rodgers' playing pattern will have the players improving.

It is this journey that Nacho should not miss.

Bench does not kill players as long as the players are working hard to keep improving on the training ground.

Soyuncu has been on the Leicester City bench for five months. Rodgers gave him a nod yesterday and he had an outstanding game.

So players should focus on improving than looking for game time in mediocre systems.

Out.
