Chelsea starlet Fikayo Tomori could become the most expensive Nigerian defender in history if transfer speculations are anything to go by. The Daily Star is reporting that Burnley are hoping to clinch a £15m deal for Tomori, who is also eligible to represent the senior national teams of Canada and England. Should Chelsea agree to do business with The Clarets, Tomori will become the costliest defender eligible to represent Nigeria, surpassing the 12 million euros Inter Milan paid Auxerre for Taribo West in June 1997. Tomori was loaned out to Derby County for the entirety of last season and was named the club's Player of the Year and spent the previous season at Hull City. With Chelsea slapped with a two-window transfer ban, it is thought that the central defender is in the plans of new Blues boss Frank Lampard as he was included in the pre-season squad for games against Bohemians and St Patrick's Athletic FC this week. Although Manuel Akanji is a Switzerland international and no longer eligible for the Super Eagles, he is the most expensive defender of Nigerian descent in history, costing Borussia Dortmund €21.5 million when he was acquired from FC Basel in 2018. 3 Likes |

Mujtahida: Which press the point? I am giving you facts here and not emotive analyses of the game yesterday. He didn't do anything before the two goals were scored. In fact, the ball touched his legs once or twice and still lost the ball. The two chances were after the two goals were scored. EOD 2 Likes |

I was surprised to watch the south Africa goal keeper yesterday...I kept asking myself if the dude play with akpeyi in south Africa...too? then why is he exceptional.... please we still don't have a goal keeper... If you don't win this tourney Rohr should be asked to leave us |

Barryseal: Yes Ighalo was MOTM yesterday and he gave a world class performance. However, it should also be noted that Chukwueze came in and acted like the decoy necessary for Ighalo and Musa to operate with less pressure from the defense. That's why we hail him but that doesn't take away the performance of the other players like Musa, Iwobi, Etebo et al 14 Likes 1 Share |

We need a very good tactician to assist Rohr. I don’t think we should throw away the positives Rohr has brotught to team. However we NEED a tactician. |

Decoy., that’s the word. Chukwueze is known to Seesorf, which is why they made a quick substitution and always had two men on him. darkelf: 3 Likes |

andrew444: please if you look very well... you will understand that the style of play in his club side has really affected him. Moses that I know prior now was a very deadly winger and also good with free kicks... I don't understand why you ighalo fans are making it look that those applauding chuks and his introduction wanna take the spot light of ighalo... everyone knows ighalo did well...I praised him for that... but notwithstanding Chuks introduction paid off also.... he really kept the Cameroonians busy afterwards. 3 Likes |

Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr has blamed lack of concentration for the goals conceded by his team during the first half of their 3-2 victory against Cameroon on Saturday evening. Nigeria took the lead in the 19th minute when Odion Ighalo's close-range shot was deflected beyond Andre Onana but the first half ended in dramatic fashion with the defending champions netting twice in the final five minutes. The Super Eagles could have avoiding a meeting with the five-time African champions if they topped Group B but finished as the second-placed team after losing to Madagascar. ''Just after the Madagascar match we had some few days, we didn't want to lose this match, we wanted to finish first in the group and avoid a team like Cameroon, we could not,'' Rohr said at the post-match press conference attended by allnigeriasoccer.com. ''We wanted to give competition to some of our players and I am very happy with the players that lost to Madagascar but could not participate today. ''This victory was a difficult match, everybody knows Cameroon have a very good team, we dominated in the beginning, scored a good goal and then in the end of the first half there was a lack of concentration and Cameroon got their goals.'' Rohr praised the midfielders - Wilfred Ndidi, Oghenekaro Etebo and Alex Iwobi - for their efforts in the second half that eventually turned the game around. ''In the second half, we tried to have a better organization in the midfield and also to believe still in the victory, players were disappointed at half-time but my young team did not give up and continued to fight. ''We had better organization in the midfield in the second half, I must say that we had two days more to prepare for the match, towards the end of the second half we had a little bit more fitness than them. ''Congratulations to the Cameroon team, to have a good football match you need two good teams''. |

Joebie: yea he kept them busy and disorganized their plans.... who knows had it been he was not introduced even if we score... the Cameroonians would have pressured our defense and with their skill they would have gotten a goal. so the lad did a thorough job... ighalo also should be commended... he came to party yesterday. 1 Like |

BascoVanVeli: Now you are being mischievously contentious and prejudiced. You are entitled to your opinion irrespective of how devoid of objectivity it is. This was a routine long ball that came into the direct pathway of our CB , who then mistimed his header was bullied into this elementary error and that forced Aina to backtrack and end up on the wrong side of the SA Attacker as he tried to mitigate for the first error. Ola Aina the weakest link in the SE according to you is just downright spurious. 1 Like 1 Share |

Chukwueze came in and the match changed, but Ighalo had the most influence in that match...No need for confusion! 2 Likes 3 Shares |
