SharpJoe: Substitution in game could be change of game plan. Rohr testified that he thought of either bringing in Etebo or Ogu for Onazi. If you go by off the ball movement, you need to remember that Onazi played in the Seria A where much emphasis is made on movement. We played better doesn't mean we played badly. Which links up where bad? When was the chances wasted, was when Onazi was there or when Ogu came in? |

I think it is because Rohr feels he has no much time anymore.... he just wanna focus and solidify his team for qualification first before bringing in our future no.1s ..... SharpJoe: |

SharpJoe: Rohr's plan for this game is far more important than what u felt he should have done for the friendlies. Rohr is the man! |

Very very likely Sir Joebie.... heard a clubside is being arranged as replacement. Not yet 100% though... Joebie: |

TheSuperNerd: That is if any of those young goalies will eventually be our no1s. Two years back did anybody know Ikeme will be our no1 and Akpeyi no2? Any other goalie can spring up from any where in future and become first choice. |

SharpJoe: Yobo was registered by standard liege in 1998 not 97. It was standard liege who converted him. To Nigerians he was known as a an attacker. Picture they say is worth a thousand words. I didn't photoshop this image. Kindly show me the 5th defender in this picture. A snap shot taken at 92'. If he wasn't playing in defence when he came on, why do you still argue he was a defender in the game?

Icon4s: lol. Obviously if he gets off the bench then he is better than all of them. I don't just appreciate the fact that a bench warmer is our primary striker |

forgiveness: lol. You are funny sha. So the substitution which was primarily because of an injury is now a tactical substitution? Oga, Ogu was brought in to do what Onazi was doing, he did it better. The tactical subs came in later in the game. 2 Likes |

@Calvin Emeka.... (Twitter) Y'all probably know already that the Burkina Faso match is off. Arrangements are being made to find a clubside. |

goldfish80: As I said before, a picture of a game can not give an accurate description of what is going on on the pitch. The link I showed you is the 1997/1998 Standard Liège team list. Yobo was a Standard Liège defender. We would not call a Standard Liège defender to play attack. That is like taking a screenshot of a midfield and if you do not see Mikel there, you will say he did not play as a midfielder. I repeat, we would not bring a Standard Liège defender to play attack for us. 1 Like |

forgiveness: so you like watching an average performance? You are also forgetting that he played in the Seria A primarily as a DMF, De Jong is a typical seria A DMF, do I need to explain to you De Jong's style of play? Onazi's link-up play was bad, very bad, I don't know why you don't want to understand 1 Like |

That is true.... but that is subtly why I no call name naa.... alampasu is not doing well for now.... and I still have high hopes for him.... Nwokolor gets rave review In his league.... but still a greenhorn... For now... na Ikeme we know.... For the future... the next no.1 will eventually reveal himself... we have never ever been in lack of Great goalies for any generation.... so I have no worries for the future.... My Only worry now is Ikeme's fitness. I hope when cameroun comes calling we won't hear Ikeme is down again... Icon4s: |

goldfish80: As in, what clout will Yobo use and play attack in that team? Do you have an idea the kind of players we carried to Nigeria 99? If you do, you will not argue this. Haruna was the best player coming to the tournament. Considering we had young Superstars like Ronaldinho, Emmanuel Zulu, Christian Timm, Albright, Pablo, Takahara, Roque Santa Cruz, Forlan and Chevanton. Yet You want to prove that we went to Standard Liège at that time to sign a defender to play nine, dropping Aniele along the way. It is too illogical. |

TheSuperNerd: Let me be sincere. I'll glad if that Burkina game is off. Our boys are still recovering from the fight they had with the Lions we want to throw them in again to fight with the Stalions. NFF should look for one league one or two club play abeg. Atleast with that Rohr can start and assess Ebuehi and Obazee And also do some shuffling upfront or try a 4-4-2 or 4-3-3 formation. I would also want to a 4-4-2 with Success and Iheanacho as the hitmen. No Burkina friendly abeg. With dey did against Senegal they are good enough to beat Cameroun in Uyo, which is all we need to eliminate Cameroun. |

Icon4s: but we will play Cameroon twice in....4 days? Shouldn't we be getting ready now? I would have preferred it if the Senegal match was cancelled rather than this one, the Burkinabes are seriously good, dudes were all over the cameroonians for 90 mins if not for that smash and grab. And they roundly outplayed the Ghananians, stronger test than Senegal IMO 1 Like |

Nigeria friendly against Burkina Faso cancelled The Super Eagles’ second international friendly, against Burkina Faso in London on Monday , has been called off after seven players in the Burkinabe contingent failed to secure entry visas into the United Kingdom . The other players are able to enter the UK . Chairman of the NFF Technical and Development Committee, Barrister Chris Green told thenff . com in London : “ We regret to announce that the second friendly match we had scheduled for the Super Eagles as part of preparations for the remaining matches of the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying series and the beginning of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualification race would no longer take place on Monday , 27 th March 2017 . “ The match in question is called off due to no fault of either the organisers or the Nigeria Football Federation. We will announce further plans for the Super Eagles’ preparation for these two important qualifying campaigns in due course . ” There is no British Embassy in Ouagadougou , and officials of the Federation Burkinabe de Football had been shuttling between Accra and Ouagadougou for visa processing . FBF sources said the Embassy in Accra told them last week to proceed to Morocco ( where the Etalons played the Atlas Lions on Friday ) and that the visas would be issued there. However, the applications were still pending at the British Embassy in Morocco as at close of work on Friday, the last working day before match day in London . The Burkinabe Football Federation on Friday , 24 th March 2017 by 7 pm UK time telephoned the match organisers to say some of their players and officials were unable to secure entry visas into the United Kingdom and therefore would not be able to honour the match . NFF President and CAF Executive Committee member, Amaju Pinnick was unhappy with the development but stated that the objectives of satisfying the technical team ’s desire of squaring up against tough , physical African opposition and fostering team bonding and organisation were achieved . “ The Technical Adviser ( Gernot Rohr ) wanted to play very physical African teams, as part of the preparations for the World Cup qualifying matches against Cameroon , and we duly fulfilled that with the arrangements we made for Senegal and Burkina Faso . “ Unfortunately , some of the Burkinabe players could not secure entry visas into the UK . It is nobody ’s fault . Our joy is that we were able to play Senegal and got a fair result with a depleted squad , and also the objectives of team bonding , team building , team discipline and further imparting the Technical Adviser ’s philosophy to the group have been well served . “ The Technical Adviser has also been able to look at a few more options , and our strength - in - depth is looking very good . ” Source: http://punchng.com/nigeria-friendly-against-burkina-faso-cancelled/ |

TheSuperNerd: That is it. Lets not worry abt a future goalie. Let us focus and solve the problem at hand. A goalie will eventually emerge when the time comes. I give Rohr kudos for keeping faith with Akpeyi who in my opinion has not been exceptional but has done well as a reserve goalie. For all those calling for Alampasu, Nwokolo and Daniel can Rohr put any of them in goal against Cameroun? No! Akpeyi haven kept goal against Egypt in Alexandria, Algeria in Uyo and Senegal in London has proven he is no shove over. Let us use all we have at our disposal to qualify for the WC and AFCON first then start thinking abt building for the future. The NFF even told Rohr that there'll be no contract renewal if he fails to qualify for 2018 WC and u expect him to be planning for 2022 WC? 3 Likes 1 Share |
