BascoVanVeli:Well, it is either there is so much hype or the local teams are that bad. If you say Zesco is a big ten then I will not argue. But are they bigger than Ranger I mean, it seems our league is still growing or is outrightly poor. We don't even make any statement on the continent again. Same crap Kano pillars did some years back. It is better to say the truth even if it hurts so we can make corrections than give excuses and not improve. You can't give what you don't have. For us not have a good goalkeeper in the whole league that can step up to ikeme, or defenders and midfielders who can even stand out on the continent is not too good. How many home based players can make the current Super eagles bench? " |

Icon4s: Lol...that his father still want him to fight for his place...where he can't even make match day squad.. I just can't wait to watch that lad weekly score and make up goals |

Icon4s: What concerns me is Iheanacho becoming a better player in the near future. If rushing him to a team that will diminish him in the name of looking for goals and assists, I am wholeheartedly against it. The whole game time thing has been blown of the map with Iwobi and Ighalo deteriorating with game time. It is misleading. What is most important is Iheanacho's continuous development. |

TheSuperNerd:Talking about Kelechi and his next destination or if he stays at City or not is not exactly of importance now because the transfer window opens in August. This season have not even been concluded. It's just the condition we find ourself is quite dire. If Ighalo, Ideye and Emenike had lived up to expectations and became really world class, we wouldn't even be talking about Kelechi leading our attack at the world cup. He would have just been a sub where he won't be under immense pressure to deliver. He's still learning afterall and men's world cup us men's world cup. The Gk issue remains a big worry if Enyeama don't come back. In Africa you need a world class Gk performance to get a result, especially away from home. I don't know how well Akpeyi and co will cope judging by the lack of confidence Nigerians and even the technical crew seem to have about them. |

Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 9:14pm On Apr 17, 2017 |
Humility017: Pogba could not make match day squad a lot of time of Manchester United and hardly started a game. When he went to Juventus, he was head and shoulders over a lot of players who had regular game time. Same goes to Pique who hardly had game time but went on loan to Zaragoza and was one of the best defenders in La Liga. He came back to Manchester United and hardly got game time, went to Barcelona and was a key player of the six title winning Barca squad. Game time is misleading. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Icon4s(m): 9:15pm On Apr 17, 2017 |
TheGoodJoe: Yeah. That was about the first thing I remembered as I read that article. TheGoodJoe, sincerely speaking, I feel Iheanacho needs that game time now. He will turn 21 later this year. Comparing him with other great players at 21 you'll find out Iheanacho is yet to take off. At 21 Nigerian strikers like Kanu, Martins, Yakubu and Utaka, were already killing defenses. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 9:18pm On Apr 17, 2017 |
Icon4s: 21 is still formative. Iheanacho is only not playing because of the quality ahead of him. Not that he is not quality or improving. With a few run of games, people will see his quality. What is most important is him working hard on improving. Just as we saw in Delph, if a player has improved, it will show. He still has my blessings if he wants to take the Hoffenheim deal. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Icon4s(m): 9:20pm On Apr 17, 2017 |
TheGoodJoe: Hey Iwobi is not deteriorating IMO. He is just burnt out. He was a regular for Arsenal to close to 3/4 of the season. He is a young player and so needs that time out now. I believe we'll see a rejuvenated Iwobi next season. 2 Likes |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 9:23pm On Apr 17, 2017 |
Icon4s: I do not buy the burnt out excuse. Fabregas did more for Arsenal at about the same age and never got burnt out. Iwobi needs to examine himself and find out where he is lacking. He needs to fix it soon. If it means spending more time with the U23 coach, so be it. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheSuperNerd(m): 9:26pm On Apr 17, 2017 |
You are doing the best you can to subtly belittle this Lad Called Kelechi Iheanacho..... What do you mean by Men's world cup is Men's world cup?? Pele at 17, Muller at 20, Klose at 21 or so.... all were "men" abi?? Ighalo and Ideye and even Emenike were never close to world class... so live with it.... Kelechi is the best we have got.... whether you like it or not ... And he will be one of the team's leaders at the World cup.... at his young age... so brace yourself for that and stop belittling the young man... Guys like Tammy and Osimhen will still come in and hopefully live up to their "world class" potentials... And about The GK role... it is what it is right now. enyeama is still forming James Bond citing someone in the NFF as his reason for not wanting to come back "yet", Akpeyi looks like our most likely goalie if Ikeme doesn't recover on time.... or else Rohr wanna surprise us all and hand a debut to a rookie... in goal. And the goalkeeper role is the most sensitive of a team's defence. So we can only hope and watch for now.... coz unless something happens... then Akpeyi it is... as much as I hate the admission of it. goldfish80: 1 Like 1 Share |

TheGoodJoe: U saw the quality in the inter Milan attack when a 21yrs old Obafemi Martins took Europe by storm. I hope you recall Kanu Nwankwo won the champions league as a 19yrs old. Not as a bench warmer but a starter in that Stars studded Ajax team. Utaka at 21yrs was already the leading African striker in a French league that is flooded with West African talents. Time is ticking. |

Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Icon4s(m): 9:42pm On Apr 17, 2017 |
TheSuperNerd: Drogba's case is just an exception. More over Drogba never had the opportunity to start at the stage Iheanacho started. He probably would have started shinning earlier. Samuel Eto'o at 21 was already tearing defenses apart. Iheanacho was an U17 champion and MVP. Got himself into one of the best football academies in the world. 4 yrs after that his mind blowing performance at U17 he should by now be tearing defenses. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 9:43pm On Apr 17, 2017 |
Icon4s: Time is ticking but Martins early exploit at Inter Milan did not culminate in him becoming one of the best hitmen in the history of the game. That is what I am pointing at. The hype does not mean development. Development is reaching a level where he is operating at the best of his abilities. Martins did not reach it despite ticking early. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 9:45pm On Apr 17, 2017 |
Icon4s: That time will come but Iheanacho has room for improvement. When he gets his run, it will be explosive. |

TheGoodJoe:I see you always mention Iwobi when you want to justify Iheanacho sitting in the stands..... Truth is that Iwobi did not detoriate because he's playing. Rather I think Iwobi's form have been inconsistent lately because of fatigue. This is his first full season as a professional and he has played 80% of matches this season when you factor in national team assignments, the numbers are venue higher. Arsenal seem to have noticed he is in the red zone and gradually withdrew him from the front lines, he needs a rest . He's just 20 afterall. 1 Like |

TheSuperNerd: I just want people to understand playing time is no guarantee for improvement. Iwobi is one of the Special creations of football and I know he can do better. However, he has to deal with other factors aside from game time to reach his height. |

Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by goldfish80(m): 9:55pm On Apr 17, 2017 |
TheSuperNerd:Nobody is belittling anyone. Its very convenient to mention Pele and cite Maradona but truth remains that the world cup is not exactly a playing ground for young lads. Italy had to recall a certain Del Piero and Totti to pilot their 2006 world cup ambitions. Even Germany recalled Miroslav Klose for the Brazil mundial. These are facts,if our older strikers were up and doing, Kelechi would have still be playing second fiddle to them. 1 Like |

goldfish80: Tell that to Iniesta who played regularly for Club and country at a young age. What of Xavi? Or Gerard or Scholes. Young players have played instrumental roles in clubs. Iwobi needs to know that he needs to keep working hard to remain on top. No time for too much play. |

goldfish80: James Rodriguez, Neymar and Ozil are recent examples of young players that took the World Cup with a raging storm. Maradona and Pele are too far. |
