His personal achievements are his achievements his team's is his team's you can't use because a player played in an excellent team to discredit other defenders

You are not serious sha
Oga mention the 25 defenders and their individual achievements and accolades or remain shut.

He played in an excellent team according to you but you forget that him and other good players were the reasons why the teams he played for are excellent teams. Also, he played for an excellent team and he has been playing at the top for these excellent teams for more than a decade and counting...you think it's easy for a player to play at the top and for an excellent team for 10+ years and has not been benched by another player?

Dominic is possibly the fastest defender in the Championship, he is Athletic strong and quick.

However, technicality is not his strong point.

He was on the up with his team winning all kinds of accolades. Indeed Rohr was seriously looking at him irrespective of the previous politics. His team has lost form so badly it's shocking from contending for top position they have fallen near to the point of possible flirting with relegation.

If your team is failing you loose traction in your personal rating.

Indeed this is something that's going to really help the SE now, the presence of YOBO. He will not compromise on quality and will not be bullied or induced into accepting certain players by NFF officials.

Until l see them both playing good technical composed football it's difficult to ascertain thier true quality.

Nonetheless, as a defender you still need to have some good degree of physicality and athleticism.

We saw how Omeruo was bullied by the Cameroon players in the last Afcon.

Stop doing like you dunno how this Glass House works

The football cabal got him that post. Stop doing like he has more shoulder than even the late Stephen Keshi who we all know still played to the gallery.

Yobo isnt gonna be the 1st, neither the last...... We know that it wasnt on merit. You know. What's his rep before he got the job? Its a Nigerian thing.....

If we make a list of those previously appoi ted by NFF and have merit, we know its gonna be hard to see 3/10.

Not to talk of those that are wayyyyyy ahead of him in both qualifications and pecking order....

So if Rohr is more interested in Ejaria as some say, then he has his reasons. It’s one thing to go for a player, it’s another thing to utilize him well.

charlesemeka85:

It depends on the one that fits the formation and tactics rohr wants to deploy in any game. Both are super talented and would be great addition to the team.

Arabiandude:

This is the exact point I was trying to point out this afternoon. Presently I think we need Eze more because the current SE lacks a recognized and good AM...Iwobi is the one currently playing that role and he usually tires out before 60-70mins and he is not a recognized AM unlike Eze. But in Ejaria CM(box/box) position, we currently have a very good Aribo, Etebo and even to a lesser extent Azeez. In conclusion, the SE team has always lacked a midfielder that complement the strickers in goalscoring until Aribo came in, so Eze joining the team will also guarantee us more goals.

For me, modern football or not, I don't believe in players doing more than what they are supposed to go to the field to do, e.g a strickers running back to defend or an AM becoming a defender when his team is been attacked. Leave Eze there to do the dribbles, assist and support the strickers to score goals, while the strickers scores and the CM(who is to be known as a box/box midfielder) support the defense when the team is been attacked by the opponent. Messi, Ronaldo, Neymar, Mbappe and even recently Haland doesn't fall back to help their defense because it's not their jobs, their jobs are to either assist and score and they are doing it well.

I thought Ovie doesn't have weaknesses according to emeka and because of how he was praising him? If his weaknesses are tackling, crossing and finishing, what then do we need him for?

Ovie has all the strengths reminiscent of a good player in his primary position (the CM), hence judging him by those weaknesses is unfounded, though it would do him good to improve on his tackling and finishing.

As a CM, his dribbling is very strong, his passing is strong, his long shots are strong, his through balls are strong and his defensive contributions are strong. These are the primary qualities needed in a good CM, others are secondary, though, they(the secondary qualities) make a few players stand out among equal.

That said, I am glad we have bagged him, but what the team needs the most is a good AM in the mould of Eze who possesses wicked strengths such as;

Dribbling - (very strong)

Taking of set pieces - (very strong), the super eagles are in dire need of this

Crossing, long shots, retaining possession - all strong

In recent years, the best footballers ahead of their generation have been unanimously Messi and Ronaldo. Surprisingly one defender was been nominated for footballer of the year very very rare. I never heard Pique being mentioned in that breath. In my opinion even if VVD stops playing soccer now, he has already shown how special he is. If it is by longevity and titles, people like Wes Brown, Darren Fletcher will be forming all time greats grin

Gentile no be footballer, it was just a hobby. He was an ASSASIN camouflaging as a defender grin. I believe u must have omitted Franz Beckhenbaur a defender ahead of his time and Mathias Sammer a defensive midfielder turned defender who won the ballon d'or and player of the tournament at Euro 96.

I only know of very few defenders who have won the ballon D'or, Sammer and cannavaro, for people to predict that VVD might be the next defender to win the world's best player, should tell u something about him. And I wasn't in anyway saying we brown and fletcher are greats, my statement is we all know thereally is nothing great about them but they both had longevity and won many club titles, UCL and multiple EPLS so greatness can't be measured on the basis of titles alone.

Vvd has tried because he won the European best

His time to win the world best is gone bro ,no thanks to Lionel Messi

Defenders that has done better than him didn’t even get anyone ,sometimes football are like that

If vvd was playing for a team that has cr7 and Messi he would not even smell the European best

Na mane and salah dey Liverpool ,but he deserved it thou
